Suddenly in the midst of a Summer Festival--

There's a distinct sound of waves, and bustling of people nearby.

In the coastal city of Turnbloom the sun is bright and warm, and the scent of the sea wafts through with the cool gentle breeze that makes the glittering pinwheels spin, and the leaves on the palm tree dance.

Today the streets are extra decorated with these cute, colorful and floral shaped pinwheels. It seemed the people who were out in the streets were dressed in colorful summer attire--either casual, or the more traditional yukata. It seemed like with the booths were set out for both food and games for festival of some kind that was currently underway.

Just how did you get here, and why? A mystery, and it seemed the people in the streets didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary as they go about enjoying their time out on this bright sunny day.

Red? He dance

[monologing]

[Within the crowd of people who are dancing is this lad who looked to be enjoying himself. Although it's clear from the way he's observing those who are dancing, and the way he wasn't quite apt at it, that he clearly wasn't from around town.

Still, it doesn't stop Red here from facing the closest person who wasn't participating before approaching them with a wide smile and holding both hands out, indicating he wanted to dance with them.

C'mon, c'mon! It'll be fun! Join him!]

Who, me?! But I don’t even know how to…

[This isn’t familiar to him at all!]

[monologing]

[Red's beaming in response, followed by a laugh. Despite Trip's protest he's still holding his hands out right out to him.]

...s'okay! Me too.

[serperiority]

So, it's the blind leading the blind...

[Despite the grumbling, he takes his hands anyway, unsure how he ended up in this predicament.]

[monologing]

[Oh! Despite his grumbling he was receptive to the invitation, that's great actually. With a smile still on his face he's leading Trip closer to the dancing crowd. He'll turn his gaze to the closest people who were swaying their arms in a particular motion.

That didn't look...too hard! They just had to do that, right?

Releasing Trips hands, he turned to face the younger trainer as he held his own arms up.]

Like this! ....I think!

[Red laughed, while he too moved his arms from side to side. It was fun just moving to the beat of the music for him.]

[Yes, it looked oddly simple... but, their movements looked well practiced and flowed like water! If he did it, he wasn't so sure it'd look like more than kind of limp wiggling or slowed-down flailing, but... alright!

He watched Red, looking unsure, but copied him just the same.]

I think we're out... no, we're definitely out of sync!

[Is there some kind of order? He tried to watch the other dancers to figure out if there's some sort of rhythm...]

[monologing]

[They were out of sync?

He's pausing and glancing at the other dancers who were having a lot of fun. Oh! People were whistling along to the music too, wow! This was pretty lively...!

Turning to Trip, Red looked less deterred by his observation. He's gesturing for Trip to come closer to him.]

... ...don't worry! We're just learning, it's okay to not be good! Just have fun!

[timidlyblooming]

Hm? Oh, it’ll be my pleasure!

But, um, is it okay if I do a different kind of dance? Or will we learn this one together?

[It’d be better to learn away from judging eyes, Lillie thinks it’d be less embarrassing that way… but if they’re both going to be clumsy about it, it might not be so bad? Maybe?]

[monologing]

[Red looked puzzled. Another dance? The only dance he knew was the Bon Odori himself, but the people around him sure were moving a bit more animatedly, along with their arms.

Looking back to Lillie, Red lifted the brim of his cap to show a clearer look of his face. A confident grin soon followed. He wasn't about to make Lillie try and do the same dance if she didn't want to!]

....yeah, sure! Let's dance together.

[timidlyblooming]

[Then, Lillie will curtsy, then step back and dance... a waltz with thin air. It looks silly and isn't really keep in step with the music at all! Maybe she should just try something else?]

[monologing]

[Oh wow! It was certainly not a dance he has seen in person (on TV, definitely). While it was mismatched with the upbeat music, it sure suited the younger girl. Red however was determined to learn whatever this dance was!

He glanced around the people around him who were moving in beat to the music. Raising his arms up like the other dancers who were swaying their arms about. Okay, this was kind of fun!

Turning to Lillie, Red's offering an encouraging smile her way.]

This is fun too...!

[timidlyblooming]

Alright... I'll give it my best shot!

[As a show of determination, Lillie took a hairband, pulled her hair back into a high ponytail, and imitated the others very seriously! She might initially be too stiff about it, but it'll become more fluid with practice!]

[monologing]

[Red laughs, which of course wasn't at Lillie. It was out of delight when he saw her determination as she began to dance too.

Red too will do his best to copy the other dancers, even if part of it was him staring trying to figure out their movements. The dance looked so easy, but it was a little hard being as good as the other more experienced dancers.]

That's the spirit kids! Let's dance the night away!

[One of the dancers commented to them before they followed up with a loud whistle in tune with the music, seemingly to further encourage the two.]

dang!! he dance too!!!!

[He didn't actually expect there would be some kind of dance party after the fireworks. But the way everyone sways their arms to the beat of the sanshin is kind of mesmerizing in some way. And he could even pick up the happiness and joy surrounding the crowd.]

This looks fun!

[And when Red offers Ash to join him, it surprised him at first, then turned to his Pikachu before both grinning at each other.]

Whaddaya say? Let's join in!

Pika!

[And immediately both Ash and his Pikachu approach Red. They're ready to PAR-TAY!]

two lads from Pallet Town what will they do

[monologing]

[Red beams at Ash's enthusiasm along with his Pikachu. wow, what a cute duo!

He laughs as he gently takes hold of one of Ash's hands to lead him towards the crowd of dancers. He doesn't go too fast, as he wanted to make sure Pikachu was close by still.

Once in the midst of the crowd he turned over to Ash and Pikachu.]

...ready?

[He lets Red drag him towards the crowd as he just happily follows along. And when Red questioned him, he pumps his fist upwards while beaming.]

Heh! We're ready as ever!

Pika-chu!

[Both Ash and Pikachu are looking pumped up!]

HECK YEAH

[monologing]

...heh heh! Me too!

[Red beamed right back at Ash and to Pikachu. He's glancing over to the dancing crowd to get a good frame of reference to their dance. It was sure different from what he's used to (bon odori) but it looked a lot of fun to him.]

...okay! Let's give it a shot!

[With a small cheer of his own, Red will begin swaying his own arms. He could hear one of the dancers in the crowd letting out a cheer.]

That's the spirit kiddo! Sa sa sa!

[Wow, this other guy seems really nice!

And when Red starts dancing, Ash takes a moment to observe before copying his moves and attempt to dance alongside the crowd.]

So... like this?

[He starts swaying his arms, though a bit awkwardly. His Pikachu also attempts to copy Ash, but the best he could do is flail his stubby mouse arms. But the moment he heard one of the dancers cheer them on, it only boosted Ash's confidence as well as his enjoyment.]

Okay Pikachu, let's try to keep it up! Sa sa sa sa!

[Yep, he's really geting into this.]

[ ??????????

Tallie just... blinks. She's more confused than unwilling. ]

... me? [ Not that there's anyone else around her - she's standing alone for a reason - but ??????? ]

[monologing]

[...oh!!! It's Tallie!!! Wow, it feels like it's been ages since he had seen her around.

With the way his smile grew and held his hand out still Red's nodding rather enthusiastically. Yeah, you Tallie!

oh wait he should say that out loud shouldn't he? He's tilting his cap up to better show his smiling face to his friend.]

Mmm! ....it's been a while, Tallie!

[lockedtrainer]

[ … Ah. She’d thought he’d seemed familiar. She hadn’t wanted to get her hopes up, just in case, but that voice - the warmth when he says her name - isn’t something she could forget so easily.

She wasn’t sure if she’d ever see him again, but now… ]

It has been. [ She takes that outstretched hand in hers, her faint smile already beginning to grow. ] Red.

[monologing]

[Taking hold of Tallie's hands he thought about how it wasn't his first time holding hands with her. This time however it's during a festival.

Returning her smile, he's leading her towards the crowd who were dancing.]

....okay, let's dance!

[However instead of letting go of Tallie's hands, Red felt compelled to hold onto her hands a little longer. It really did feel like a long time since he's seen her face.]

[ He's yet to let go of her hands, but she's also made no effort to pull away. For as closed off as she gets at times, she's... comfortable, in this strange new place, with a familiar face.

Even when the subject of dance arises. She's awkward ] I- I've never danced before. [ but not opposed to the idea, given how her thumbs tap against his hands, trying to find the sense of rhythm somewhere in her body. ]

[Despite having been told that there was a Red here in Ultern, Blue hadn't expected to run into one so certain. Certainly not right here in the middle of a dance. Certainly not looking so much... younger? Was he younger? Maybe not? It'd been a while since she'd been home...

Probably the whole reason she hadn't started dancing yet was because she was busy blinking wide eyed at him. When he held his hands out, she just starting blinking faster.]

[monologing]

[? ? ?

Why was she just staring at him like that? There were plenty of people who were joining along in the dance... oh, maybe he wasn't clear on why he approached her by just holding his hands out? That must be it, he didn't exactly expressed them vocally. Yeah, it totally has to be him not saying anything that was confusing the nice lady.

Red's nodding to himself like the dweeb that he is.]

...wanna dance?

[He tried once more, with his hands still held out to Blue followed by a warm smile on his face.]
