Stardust Beach - Traveller

[A rather confused Trip might be found wandering the beach today! It seems he's drifted back in for the first time in a while (not counting his younger self who's been staying at the Professor's place)... well, at least he's already dressed for the beach, with a sun hat, (oversized, hiding nearly half his face) shades, capris, and a breezy (very orange) shirt! But, there's just one little problem...]

... have you seen my Frillish?

Pokemon Center - Takeover

[Nurse Emi was supposed to be off today, wasn't she? Yet, it seems she's come to work anyway! Quite the workaholic, isn't she? ... or is it her? She seems to be acting, well, strange...

She's lazily flung herself, ragdoll-like, as if she isn't quite sure what to do with her limbs, into a seat behind the desk and is rudely bossing around the Pokemon Nurses like a little despot! She didn't have to be here today, why is she being so mean?! Maybe she's not feeling well? It seems like nothing's good enough for her!

She isn't even really doing any work, she's mostly just... drinking jasmine tea. She's been drinking cup after cup of jasmine tea with no end in sight.]

[Not at the beach or the Pokemon Center today? That's alright, a bored and mischievous Ghost type Pokemon could bring chaos and confusion to your home, too! Is that where you left that thing? "No, I haven't!" she says. "Is yours blue or pink? I love both colors!"

Trip turns and smiles down at her.
"Yeah, they're nice," he replied gently
before answering, "Blue, he's a boy Frillish."

And nowhere in sight, it seemed...

Evie beamed happily. Yay friends!

"Does he have a name?" she asked. "We can call for him!"

"Oh, I don't really... name my Pokemon," Trip responded, wondering briefly if that seemed unkind. "I didn't want to give them silly-sounding names..."

Evie seemed to like her name...

"I thought Pokemon would be happiest with just their own names, although I wouldn't be able to know what they called themselves..."

“That’s nice that you think about that!” Evie said innocently. “A lot of us have two or more names. That’s okay, though! We like when people name us.”

"You do...? I suppose a private nickname would be fine, then..." Trip said, considering Evie's words.

He didn't have much confidence in his nicknaming ability, though...

He did sometimes call him a "troublemaker," but that's not really a nice nickname, especially to tell someone else...

"Oh, I call him 'prince,' sometimes... that might help?" Trip admitted, colouring a little to admit it.

"Oh, that's a nice name!" Evie said. "We can call 'Prince' and maybe he'll hear and come!"

[That felt embarrassing to say out loud where others could hear it! He couldn't, he wouldn't...!]

Maybe... you could call Prince and I'll Frillish. He should hear both of us, right?

[Sorry, Trip's proud nature can be troublesome...]

[Meanwhile, this child here is looking like he's never been out in the sun before--and overly dressed for the beach. He tilted his head to one side, smiling while his eyes clearly glanced around his surroundings before confirming that yes, Trip was indeed talking to him, specifically. Ah...how troubling. He had no idea what Frillish is.

Plus he couldn't see any clear benefits in helping this kid in front of him. (But he should, right? If he didn't there was a chance of this kid getting angry, and...)]

[He spoke, in a very clear, Orrenian accent.]

[In Trip's defense, he would ALSO check his pockets if a Unovan bumped into him]

[Oh, another American! He hadn't expected that... he didn't remember this boy, was he someone who drifted in while he was gone? Trip wondered how much Ultern changed since he was gone, before focusing on the matter at hand. Sorry, he was just happy to hear a familiar language in a foreign land! Even if some part of him might initially think of how lawless Orre is and, the hands he kept in his pockets might find and hold tight to his wallet... save it, that doesn't mean anything here. Still, he can't help but be suspicious...

No assumptions about his dress, other than assuming the kid burns easily... he's very pale, after all.

He'd switch to English too, although his accent's more Unovan.]

Oh, good. He's a male Frillish! Do you know what they look like?

Ace won't judge as he finds that to be absolutely normal ffff

[He's glad Trip swapped over to a language he's far more familiar with. He smiled, not even bothered by Trip clearly being more mindful about his pockets--that was to be expected. Nobody could be too careful outside.]

No, not really...

[At least he was truthful about that.]

But if you describe what he looks like I can keep an eye out. I know how it feels being separated.

[A-Ace... well, maybe in Orre and Unova, but--]

[Trip suddenly felt concerned. Was this just a strangely stoic boy who's newly drifted? He brought out his PokeDex anyway, but still eyed Ace warily. Did he need help...? Or is he just talking about missing people from home?]

When Ultern is just too friendly-

Yeah, but it was some time ago. It's fine now.

[He will peer curiously at the PokeDex, before focusing on what was on screen. So that's what Frillish looked like? Pokemon... he's never gotten close to one. Suddenly, he felt wary. Maybe this was a bad idea...? He could just run, right? Surely this kid won't chase after him?

He glanced over to Trip when noticing he was looking at him. What was on his mind? He wasn't quite sure. So he'll laugh, and smile over to Trip. People tended to not hit him as hard when he appeared friendly!]

[Man, what a depressing thought. He felt awkward, not knowing how to comfort someone he's only just met. Should he pat him on the shoulder? No, they're not close enough to do that yet, so... he just stood there, stiffly, frowning.]

[Huh? Was there something Trip had to be sorry about? Ace was genuinely puzzled by the other's reaction. No one really cared if he had even offhandedly mentioned anything.

He was about to ask but seemed he had now made Trip flustered. Ace laughed again, a smile still on his face.]

Ehehe...don't worry. I'm used to getting stared at. It's my eyes right?

[He'll say while fixing his bangs to mostly hide his red eye. That usually creeped people out...]

Trip's gaze flitted between Ace's face, his hair, then back again and he just looked even more awkward.]

There's nothing... wrong with your eyes. They're—pretty cool, actually.

[At least, he started to both look and sound more confident, if a bit forceful... he even brought out his camera!]

In fact, I'd like to take your picture, because I've never seen anyone with eyes of different colours before!

[What? Oh, right. Right! Frillish!]

... he's one of my Pokemon, a Unova Pokemon. A Water and Ghost type Pokemon who resembles a blue jellyfish with, well, frilly and veil-like tentacles... here.

[He'll show Ace Frillish's entry on his PokeDex! That's a... concerning entry...
'Frillish, the Floating Pokémon. Frillish can constrict its foes using its veil-like tentacles and numb them with poison. It is said to live in dens some five miles below sea level.']

Pokemon Center

Ah, Ultern. It's been such a long time since Gold's been here. Several months, at least. Or was it just a day or so? Maybe only a few hours? Who even knows. He's back after leaving for a while anyway.

Today, he's walking to the Pokemon Center... with a Typhlosion by his side? Anyone who's seen this specific Gold around has probably seen his Meganium. Well, right now, he's talking to the Typhlosion.

"...So, yeah, we're probably stuck here for a while, and then we'll suddenly return with no explanation," Gold explains.

The Typhlosion grumbles about this.

"Yeah, I know. It sucks, but not like there's anything we can do about it. Might as well just chill."

He opens the door to the Pokemon Center and spots the nurse lounging unnaturally. Great, looks like this place is doing some weird shit again.

"Wow, nice welcome," Gold says, hand on his hip, then turns to the Typhlosion. "Drasiel, I think this place is haunted or something. Wanna learn to fly real quick and go to the other town's Pokemon Center instead?"

The Typhlosion stares at him flatly. Haunted? Really? This place is barely even eerie.

[Well, Drasiel can't keep being a naysayer after seeing this--probably...]

The lounging nurse propped herself up on an elbow, fanning herself.

"W-what was that?! You're accusing me of being a bad host?! I'll show you...!!"

It's a shame Typhlosion's not one to see through illusions, because everyone entering is under the effect of one!

At least, Frillish Nurse Emi has just as much pride in being seen as a good host. She'll float off of the—oh, hold on, she's just landing on her feet now, you see, that was just a big jump! She might be blushing at "forgetting" to rise normally.

Some of the Pokemon staff are staring now, too... uh-oh...

"I've been working out!" Nurse Emi lied terribly with a grin, flexing her arm. "... maybe too much on just my legs, ahahaha!"

[gold_drum]

When Frillish Nurse Emi floats up into the air, Drasiel lets out a shriek that makes Gold jump.

("AAAAGH IT'S A GHOST RUN AWAY!!") she shrieks, leaping to try and hide behind Gold.

...Then she sees the Nurse's terrible excuse, and shrinks to hide behind Gold, not out of fear, but embarrassment.

"...Uh," Gold says, not sure how to react to any of this. He doesn't know what's going on, but it's more goofy than scary. "I'll... protect you?"

("You don't have to,") Drasiel hisses, embarrassed.

Frillish Nurse Emi hadn't intended to make herself obvious, so blushed even more, even if she couldn't help cracking an oddly sinister and crooked smile at Drasiel's terrified shriek, lowering her arm. It's taking all her efforts not to burst into a creepy little laugh!

... oh, but, wait, what's this?! Drasiel's embarrassed?!

H-her performance wasn't scary?! Wait, never mind, she didn't want to be scary right now! But, she did love seeing people and Pokemon's terrified faces, ah...!

What should she do now?!

"W-would you like some jasmine tea?"

Stupid, don't offer it, just... present it!

"Make our guests jasmine tea!" she barked at the harried Pokemon!

[gold_drum]

Drasiel has seen scarier smiles, but she's not fond of this ghost business!

("Do NOT accept the haunted tea,") she tells Gold.

Gold, who has no idea what she just said, nods.

"Bring some cookies too!" Gold says confidently, and Drasiel does a comedic faceplant. That's the opposite of what she was saying...!

Poor Drasiel! Not that totally-not-Frillish will correct that misunderstanding.

"Leave it to me!" she said confidently with a big (forced) smile!

Hmm, but did Nurse Emi always refer to herself the way a little boy would...? That sure was a "boku" instead of her usual "watashi"...

Nurse Emi rushed off to find cookies, so the Pokemon will finally have a chance to breathe. They're tired from being overworked! Scattered complaints...

("She's not usually like this!")
("She didn't have to come... it wasn't even her day to work...)
("Maybe she's sick?")

"Yay, cookies!" Gold cheers.

Once Nurse Emi is gone, he takes out his Ulternian Pokedex.

"I wonder what kinda ghost that is. Maybe it's a Pokemon?" he muses, pointing the Pokedex towards where the obviously haunted nurse went. Hey, just because he wants cookies, doesn't mean he forgot about that!

("Seriously?") Drasiel asks flatly. Even she's not sure if she's talking more about Gold, who's accepting ghost cookies despite knowing, or the other Pokemon, who can't tell that was a ghost.
