Stardust Beach - Traveller

[A rather confused Trip might be found wandering the beach today! It seems he's drifted back in for the first time in a while (not counting his younger self who's been staying at the Professor's place)... well, at least he's already dressed for the beach, with a sun hat, (oversized, hiding nearly half his face) shades, capris, and a breezy (very orange) shirt! But, there's just one little problem...]

... have you seen my Frillish?

Pokemon Center - Takeover

[Nurse Emi was supposed to be off today, wasn't she? Yet, it seems she's come to work anyway! Quite the workaholic, isn't she? ... or is it her? She seems to be acting, well, strange...

She's lazily flung herself, ragdoll-like, as if she isn't quite sure what to do with her limbs, into a seat behind the desk and is rudely bossing around the Pokemon Nurses like a little despot! She didn't have to be here today, why is she being so mean?! Maybe she's not feeling well? It seems like nothing's good enough for her!

She isn't even really doing any work, she's mostly just... drinking jasmine tea. She's been drinking cup after cup of jasmine tea with no end in sight.]

[Not at the beach or the Pokemon Center today? That's alright, a bored and mischievous Ghost type Pokemon could bring chaos and confusion to your home, too! Is that where you left that thing? Wait, who ate those treats you were saving? Are your Pokemon partners or other room mates mad at you and you have no idea why?]

"You do...? I suppose a private nickname would be fine, then..." Trip said, considering Evie's words.

He didn't have much confidence in his nicknaming ability, though...

He did sometimes call him a "troublemaker," but that's not really a nice nickname, especially to tell someone else...

"Oh, I call him 'prince,' sometimes... that might help?" Trip admitted, colouring a little to admit it.

"Oh, that's a nice name!" Evie said. "We can call 'Prince' and maybe he'll hear and come!"

[That felt embarrassing to say out loud where others could hear it! He couldn't, he wouldn't...!]

Maybe... you could call Prince and I'll Frillish. He should hear both of us, right?

[Sorry, Trip's proud nature can be troublesome...]

Okay! That's a good idea!

[Evie was very innocent and cheerful.]

Where did you look already?

Well, I looked around the shore I found myself near... when I realized I wasn't in Undella Bay anymore... um, I waded in the water a little bit, but I didn't really go swimming...

[He looked at Evie's dense fur... she probably wouldn't like getting wet, would she? He could ask, but he's a little too awkward to, and just assumes.]

Maybe I should check in the water and you ask the people up the shore? Frillish is a Ghost type, so he might use illusions to scare you a little. He just think it's funny, he means it as a prank, Ghost types can be that way...

[Evie might not mind getting wet, but she was also fine with searching the shore.]

Okay! How do you know if it's an illusion?

[Big wide innocent eyes.]

Well, Frillish is not a Zoroark. His illusions aren't perfect. He can either change a small thing for everyone or change everything around just one person, but the latter is more like... seeing a nightmare.

And... he also doesn't really transform like Ditto, he just creates the illusiom he has, so if you touch him, he'll feel... bouncy. Jelly-like.

[Then again... Evie looks and sounds pretty naive. He lowwred his voice and knelt down.]

I don't think you should go touching everybody, though. Besides it being rude, Frillish has the Cursed Body ability, although it really only prevents you from using attacks that make physical contact.

[She listened attentively and nodded.]

I won’t touch everyone! I can just ask if they’re a Frillish!

[What a funny thing to say! He can't help but smile a little.]

He can be, if he trusts you. So, make good friends with him first.

[But as for Evie's childishly simple plan... what a naive way of thinking! Trip blinked, then sighed a little. Oh, well, Evie might not be the best help for this sort of thing...]

I'm sure a plan like that might work if he were Ulternian, but... Frillish might lie and try to trick you, but... you can try.

[Evie tilts her head and considers that.]

Oh. Yeah, Ghost Pokemon like to do things like that, don’t they? I don’t really understand why! It’s nicer to try to help people!

[He felt... an ache in his heart. How longcago was it that he couldn't see the point in lying or deceiving anyone...?

He felt nostalgic, but also a little out of place, as he often did here.
He'll just quietly keep looking, while Evie aids in her well-meaning, but probably fruitless search...
But wouldn't it be funny if one of the people Evie asks, really is an illusion by Frillish?]

[Evie cheerfully walks around the area, asking people if they’re a Frillish and saying that Frillish’s person is looking for him! She hopes he will come back.]

[Frillish... is so amused by her gall that he ends the illusion, just for her! Where she once saw a man sunbathing, Frillish will wink at her and wave jauntily!]

[Evie jumps up and down happily.]

Yay! I found you! Your person will be so happy!

['Hmm? I didn't say anything about going to meet my master, did I~?' Frillish teased in their shared language. 'I don't want to stop playing yet! I was just rewarding you.'

In an instant, he vanished again!

Trip walked over.]

Who were you talking to?

[Evie stands there looking confused, tail swishing.]

Wait!

[She looks up at Trip.]

Frillish was here! But then he disappeared again!

Again?

[Trip didn't seem that surprised, honestly... he sighs.]

At least, we know he's here. Frillish! Please come back here, it's getting too hot!

[A beach ball will roll over and gently bump into Evie! No, it looks like a beach ball, but what Evie will feel is cool, bouncy, and jiggly, like jelly!]

[Evie jumps, and then stares at the ball with wide eyes.]

Can Frillish turn into anything?

[The ball rolled innocently back, before getting stuck in the sand.

Trip raised a brow and turned. She's watching that ball intently, could it be...?]

It's not really turning into things. He can't transform, that's basic... but he can cast illusions. Small ones, like making eyes appear, or make you see things that aren't there... basically, he can change how things look.

He can't change what they really are, that's why I said he'll still feel the same, even if he looks different. Or he can trap you in a nightmare with Night Shade, but that'll change everything around you—

[Ugh, Trip's giving his entire game plan away! Time to block all that out.
Annoyed, Frillish will wave his frilled tentacles and send... murky crimson rings that grow bigger as they travel outward, like ripples in water. He's hidden himself, but the crimson rings and Frillish's glowing red eyes will be visible to Evie. Watch out, if one of those rings hit you, you'll be caught in Night Shade!]

[Evie stares at the rings and jumps and dodges them.]

Are these illusions too?

[She looks to the eyes.]

[Thwarted again! Ugh, how annoying...

Yes, well, the eyes glare back and the glow disappears. He frowns and makes himself visible again.

Trip raises his pokeball.]

Alright, Frillish, that's enough... oh, unless you want to battle Evie?

[A battle might actually be fun!

'Depends... are you up for one?!']

Yeah, we can battle!

[Evie waves her tail. She doesn't battle much, but she's okay with it when it's play! Or if she needs to protect someone.]

Alright...

[Trip stepped back, finding a free of beach-goers and their things and taking off his backpack to free his arms. Frillish is excited to have a battle, even a little one, what fun...!]

Frillish! Water Pulse!

[They'll start with the offensive and keep other moves secret! Frillish concentrated energy into a ball of churning, turning water... the attack seemed to have a delay, so Evie could possibly attack before he finished making it bigger and more powerful!]

[Evie was getting captivated watching the Water Pulse get so big! But she snapped to and used Swift.]

[Evie's so cute! Trip felt a little bad for how disttacted she got, but it was funny, too. He laughed a little.]
Remember to battle, okay?

[Here comes the Swift! Trip swung an arm out as he ordered:]

Dodge it!

[Frillish flung Water Pulse Evie's way as he quickly swam away from the stars, which swallowed up several stars in their violently churning waves... before finally, the surface of it broke and the water crashed down. A stray star or two weren't caught in it and managed to clip one of Frillish's tentacles, sending him crashing down.]

Frillish!

[Ooh, that hurt... Frillish will prop himself up with an annoyed sound.]

Protect!

[He needed a moment to get back up, so... he spread two tentacles out, shielding himself with a barrier that rippled and shone like water.]
