[If you're listening to the radio today, there's a special announcement in the middle of the afternoon, after Ken's usual program has ended.]

-We interrupt this program for some special news! In Ohritori Island, a large swarm of Cutiefly have appeared in Route 2, near the Berry Farm! It seems they've drifted in from Alola. We ask any trainers to help with managing the swarm. A Cutiefly's natural habitat is in the Wildflower Cape, in Route 4, so we'd appreciate the help in relocating them there! So if you catch a lot of Cutiefly, please release them in Route 4 instead of anywhere else! I'd love to be there and do that myself, but I'm all the way at Chura Islands...

[Ken goes on to describe Cutiefly, it's habits and habitats. But maybe you're not listening to the radio, and doing something else instead?]

If you've got anything you've been thinking about having your characters doing, but don't want to make a whole post about it, this is for you! Or you can go play around with Cutiefly. Maybe you'll encounter a shiny? The chances of meeting them are higher during swarms after all!]]

Chloe comes to help with the relocation, but Eevee wants to play! She runs around, exclaiming, "Eevee-vee!" and inviting all the Cutieflies to play.

Chloe has to laugh as she watches. Eevee is so happy and excited to meet new Pokemon. Chloe is very interested herself by now. She might as well see if she can learn anything new about Cutieflies.

They're cute, aren't they?

[Alice waves, trying to herd them with a butterfly net. Her Blastoise, for his part, is currently waving his arms as Cutiefly swarm him.]

I've read that they're attracted to emotional people because they mistake them for plants! It's related to their sense of the aura of living creatures.

They are.

[Chloe smiles. She listens, intrigued.]

Really? That's interesting. I don't know much about them.

[Eevee romps and plays.]

[Buson’s listening to the radio, sure, but he isn’t here to do anything so noble as relocate wild Pokemon, he happened to be in Route 2 for an entirely separate reason. He liked visiting the farming districts whenever the cargo ship stopped in Ohritori… and there was somewhere he planned to visit later with a friend.]

[Evie is happily playing with Cutieflies and looks up.]

Hiya, Evie!

Making friends? Maybe tell those 'lil guys how to make it to the Wildflower Cape, if you know the way, so they'll know where to find food and their own kind when you're all done having fun.

[He's not going to help out himself, but he bet Evie could do the job much more easily by communicating with them!]

[Oh? Well guess who is right outside on route? That's right, Manzana!

Yet he doesn't notice Buson at the moment. Instead he's finding himself being swarmed by Cutieflies that seemed to be confusing him for a flower somehow.]

Ah--please I can't take you all home!

[While he seemed preoccupied, Manzana's own Cutiefly will notice Buson. Delighted to see a familiar face (and not at all bothered Manzana's attention is hogged by other Cutieflies) it'll zip right on over to lightly bump against Buson's face.]

[He heard the familiar voice, sounding distressed, and immediately reached for the pokeballs on his bandolier before he could turn to see what was happening or even hear the rest of the sentence (he’s a bit protective…), but the Cutiefly that bounced off his nose felt a little familiar.

Not wild, are you? Manzana’s?
[He reached up to give the Pokemon a place to perch, atop his fingers, his other hand still over his pokeballs as he finally turned to look Manzana’s way.

Ah, he’s being swarmed… very gently. He didn’t really need to fight these off.]

Manzana! Good to see ya. [A grin, then, Buson’s hand left the pokeballs entirely and… instead, he caught one of his shoes under foot to pull his foot out, balanced on on one, and tugged a sock off with the same hand to offer it.]

Ya smell like flowers from the shop, I’ll bet! Here, some BO will probably scare ‘em off.

[Who needs a Repel?]

[Lillie eagerly headed out to Route 2, with plenty of pokeballs, eager to capture and release Cutiefly. On a more personal and perhaps somewhat selfish level, she also felt the sight of so many Alolan Pokemon might soothe her homesickness... as well as helping someone find some sort of family or community here. Spirit of alola?]

Alola, Cutiefly! I know you're a long way from home and... it's lonely... I understand! I really do, but I'm here to help you! I'll take you to a nice place with flowers to get settled.

[Snowy eagerly translated for her.]

[Alice smiles. She isn't catching any of them in Poké Balls, notably, but she is chasing some with a butterfly net while others are swarming Shellock as he makes what for a Blastoise is probably a laughing noise.]

They must like you since you're from the same place. It's hard to find reminders of home sometimes when you've up+left, isn't it?

Really, you think so?

[Lillie smiled shyly.]

I wonder if that's true... but, maybe they did come to my garden, once or twice... I used to feed wild Pokemon to study them, back in the Alola region.

[A number of Cutiefly gathered around her. She even thought to offer Pokemon food to some. It made for easy cpatures!]

Have you been having luck with that net?

[After hearing about it on the radio, Ai was eager to help (and likely begged Gold and Professor Banyan for help saving them)!

Now, decked out in an oversized straw hat and carrying a butterfly net (she's too young to be a trainer, so no pokebalks!), Ai was ready to gather up Cutiefly to be transported. For ease of motion, she's in (sunflower print) shorts instead of a long dress today! She might look a bit silly and not too many Cutiefly would always allow themselves to be caught so easily, but...]

[Gold's joining Ai on the quest! He's got a few extra Pokeballs from Banyan, and he's following with his hands in his pockets, less enthusiastic about doing what Ken From The Radio said. Still, Ai seems excited to help, so he'll do his best.]

So they're small, yellow bugs with thin black legs... You see any around?

[Ai frowned, gripping her butterfly net's pole with both hands.]

Ummm, I thought I saw one but—oh!

[The straying Cutiefly flew past Gold this time!

Ai tried her best to catch it, but might only take Gold's hat.]

[ Route 2! Volo gets into a predicament again... ]

Volo would like to do his part to help...but he doesn't have a lot of spare money to buy Poké Balls. He'll bring what he has, but mostly he just wants to go and see the Cutiefly, since he's never heard of them before.

When he gets to the Berry Farm, it takes him a few minutes to find the swarm, and he's drawn by the sight of people, rather than Pokémon. He was expecting the Cutiefly to be...bigger? They look cute, as their name suggests, but he can't help laughing.

"Those are the tiniest Pokémon I've ever seen! Are they really Pokémon? How can they battle?"

Volo moves closer to the swarm, trying to get a better look. A few of the nearby Cutiefly seem to think he's a threat, and they shower him with a mild dose of Stun Spore powder that makes him splutter and back away. Well, that answers that question...but now his face feels weirdly numb...

[not being helpful, at all.]

Oh, hey, it's the guy he thought he dreamed up after too much to drink! (Smelling significantly better, today, but still weird.)

"Man... did you seriously just go and provoke wild Pokemon like an idiot? Size isn't everything, buddy, not even in Pokemon battles. Stun Spore can paralyze you in seconds."

Yes, that's exactly what he did.

Volo can't even disagree. It was a stupid thing to do, and he should have known that, coming from a place where even small, sweet-looking Pokémon could be aggressive. He'd even been attacked with Stun Spore, too, on more than one occasion.

So, he could only nod in agreement.

"Ah, hello! I remember you!" The drunk man, he adds silently, reminding himself of their first meeting.

Fortunately, he hasn't inhaled any of the powder, but face is still feeling tingly. He tries to carefully wipe his face with his sleeve; it might also serve to hide his humiliated blush.

"Got too close. My fault."

[Iris has Salveyo weed, so you're in luck!!!]

Iris was just admiring the cute Cutiefly, utterly unaware of the radio message (because she didn't really listen to things like the radio) or of the Cutiefly's predicament (at least for now!), she just saw cute Pokemon and ventured out to meet them, when she noticed a familiar face.

"Volo!" Iris waved at him, recognizing him. "Hiii, it's so good to see you!"

[ like when cats are embarrassed and suddenly start grooming themselves... ]

Oh, it's the girl from the market! Volo wants to grin, but he can't really tell what his facial muscles are doing right now, so he waves back with added enthusiasm to make up for it.

"Hello, Miss Iris, of the Village of Dragons!" He's always had a good memory for names and faces, anyway, but he could never forget that introduction. "Nice to see you, too!"

He's still trying to wipe his face without getting any of the spores up his nose or in his mouth. With any luck, Iris didn't witness his moment of silliness, but just in case she did, Volo nods in the direction of the swarm and laughs lightly.

"Never seen Cutiefly before, but I won't underestimate them again!"

A mingle post is absolutely the best place to slam in a new muse (insanity)

A. Huh? Radio? What's on with that radio?
[Pokegear? As if this kid had one to begin with--okay, he does. So when the radio starts kick off the moment he became very aware he wasn't where he thought he was frowned.]

...drifted. The guy on the radio said drifted...

[He's muttering to himself, clearly not caring about the sand that's stuck to his uncomfortably out of place shirt.]

B. Berry nice to meet you Cutiefly!
[Some time later, he's made his way down to Route 4 with what seemed to be a Pokedex in hand. He's aiming it towards the wild Cutiefly but--it doesn't respond. There's an annoyed look before he makes a motion seeming as if he's about to slam the Pokedex to the ground but he stopped, frowned to himself and lowers his hand.]

I guess there's no way to learn about any Pokemon outside of Johto and Kanto with this thing. What's the use of carrying it then?

C. Wildcard! - hit me with your best shot!

[There’s a redhead he isn’t used to seeing around! It isn’t Mayday, but a young boy… from Johto, judging by the PokeGear. A redheaded child from his region was already an odd and rare sight, but thinking he might be… someone… important, Buson stopped in his tracks, staring, before carrying on, with a more casual, friendly manner.]

Yeah, the Pokemon drifted in. Us guys from other regions suddenly endin’ up here are called drifted.

[Buson’s not in uniform and he’s likely not a face Silver knows, with or without his ever-present shades, but Buson didn’t want to scare off the kid whether or not he was the Boss’ son. He’s just lost, right?]

[After catching a bunch of Cutiefly on Route 2, Gold's made his way to Route 4 to release them. Standing in the flowerfield, opening a Pokeball after another, he spots a flash of red from the corner of his eye and looks- wait.

Is... is that Silver?]

HEEEEY!! SILVEERR!!

[Gold waves from the distance with a wide grin, scaring a bunch of Cutiefly. He pays them no mind. It's Silver!! Maybe it's not his Silver but he really hopes it is!]

[Alice's first thought is, Four. But that, and with it the complications of anything to do between her and Four, is shuffled aside. Clearly this one isn't a girl, he can't be her. So Alice's head goes to the photo the Red here showed her of his Gold and Silver, and she wonders for a bit if he's that one. But no, the odds are far too low to assume he's any particular Silver out of the lot.

Instead, she shakes her head and turns to him and away from the Cutiefly.]

There is a professor who can upgrade your Pokédex around here. Or get you a new one if you're attached to your old data.

[Silver's not the only one pointing his Pokedex at the Cutiefly swarm; Calla's been running around chasing the Pokemon like a gardener trying to chase a flock of Pidgey away from their garden. All she's gotten for her trouble is getting mobbed by them whenever she stands still for longer than a couple of seconds. Even now, there's one sitting on the top of her head while she looks at him.]

Wouldn't Professor Oak get mad about losing it? -Ah, yours looks different than mine.

[And fancier! Don't mind her walking over to take a closer look (with the Cutiefly in hot pursuit).]

Professor Banyan has ones that work here in Ultern, but... I like my old one better. Can I see yours? It looks neat.

[Is she jealous? Maybe. A little.]
