[If you're listening to the radio today, there's a special announcement in the middle of the afternoon, after Ken's usual program has ended.]

-We interrupt this program for some special news! In Ohritori Island, a large swarm of Cutiefly have appeared in Route 2, near the Berry Farm! It seems they've drifted in from Alola. We ask any trainers to help with managing the swarm. A Cutiefly's natural habitat is in the Wildflower Cape, in Route 4, so we'd appreciate the help in relocating them there! So if you catch a lot of Cutiefly, please release them in Route 4 instead of anywhere else! I'd love to be there and do that myself, but I'm all the way at Chura Islands...

[Ken goes on to describe Cutiefly, it's habits and habitats. But maybe you're not listening to the radio, and doing something else instead?]

If you've got anything you've been thinking about having your characters doing, but don't want to make a whole post about it, this is for you! Or you can go play around with Cutiefly. Maybe you'll encounter a shiny? The chances of meeting them are higher during swarms after all!]]

Chloe comes to help with the relocation, but Eevee wants to play! She runs around, exclaiming, "Eevee-vee!" and inviting all the Cutieflies to play.

Chloe has to laugh as she watches. Eevee is so happy and excited to meet new Pokemon. Chloe is very interested herself by now. She might as well see if she can learn anything new about Cutieflies.

They're cute, aren't they?

[Alice waves, trying to herd them with a butterfly net. Her Blastoise, for his part, is currently waving his arms as Cutiefly swarm him.]

I've read that they're attracted to emotional people because they mistake them for plants! It's related to their sense of the aura of living creatures.

They are.

[Chloe smiles. She listens, intrigued.]

Really? That's interesting. I don't know much about them.

[Eevee romps and plays.]

They don't live where I come from, but I've read about them! They're definitely charming in person. Bug/Fairy, I believe.

They are really cute. And Eevee's sure smitten.

[Eevee happily plays with any who'll play.]

Bug/Fairy? That sounds unique.

[Buson’s listening to the radio, sure, but he isn’t here to do anything so noble as relocate wild Pokemon, he happened to be in Route 2 for an entirely separate reason. He liked visiting the farming districts whenever the cargo ship stopped in Ohritori… and there was somewhere he planned to visit later with a friend.]

[Lillie eagerly headed out to Route 2, with plenty of pokeballs, eager to capture and release Cutiefly. On a more personal and perhaps somewhat selfish level, she also felt the sight of so many Alolan Pokemon might soothe her homesickness... as well as helping someone find some sort of family or community here. Spirit of alola?]

Alola, Cutiefly! I know you're a long way from home and... it's lonely... I understand! I really do, but I'm here to help you! I'll take you to a nice place with flowers to get settled.

[Snowy eagerly translated for her.]

[After hearing about it on the radio, Ai was eager to help (and likely begged Gold and Professor Banyan for help saving them)!

Now, decked out in an oversized straw hat and carrying a butterfly net (she's too young to be a trainer, so no pokebalks!), Ai was ready to gather up Cutiefly to be transported. For ease of motion, she's in (sunflower print) shorts instead of a long dress today! She might look a bit silly and not too many Cutiefly would always allow themselves to be caught so easily, but...]

[ Route 2! Volo gets into a predicament again... ]

Volo would like to do his part to help...but he doesn't have a lot of spare money to buy Poké Balls. He'll bring what he has, but mostly he just wants to go and see the Cutiefly, since he's never heard of them before.

When he gets to the Berry Farm, it takes him a few minutes to find the swarm, and he's drawn by the sight of people, rather than Pokémon. He was expecting the Cutiefly to be...bigger? They look cute, as their name suggests, but he can't help laughing.

"Those are the tiniest Pokémon I've ever seen! Are they really Pokémon? How can they battle?"

Volo moves closer to the swarm, trying to get a better look. A few of the nearby Cutiefly seem to think he's a threat, and they shower him with a mild dose of Stun Spore powder that makes him splutter and back away. Well, that answers that question...but now his face feels weirdly numb...

[not being helpful, at all.]

[buson]

Oh, hey, it's the guy he thought he dreamed up after too much to drink! (Smelling significantly better, today, but still weird.)

"Man... did you seriously just go and provoke wild Pokemon like an idiot? Size isn't everything, buddy, not even in Pokemon battles. Stun Spore can paralyze you in seconds."

[Iris has Salveyo weed, so you're in luck!!!]

Iris was just admiring the cute Cutiefly, utterly unaware of the radio message (because she didn't really listen to things like the radio) or of the Cutiefly's predicament (at least for now!), she just saw cute Pokemon and ventured out to meet them, when she noticed a familiar face.

"Volo!" Iris waved at him, recognizing him. "Hiii, it's so good to see you!"

[gold_drum]

[Gold's joining Ai on the quest! He's got a few extra Pokeballs from Banyan, and he's following with his hands in his pockets, less enthusiastic about doing what Ken From The Radio said. Still, Ai seems excited to help, so he'll do his best.]

So they're small, yellow bugs with thin black legs... You see any around?

A. Huh? Radio? What's on with that radio?
[Pokegear? As if this kid had one to begin with--okay, he does. So when the radio starts kick off the moment he became very aware he wasn't where he thought he was frowned.]

...drifted. The guy on the radio said drifted...

[He's muttering to himself, clearly not caring about the sand that's stuck to his uncomfortably out of place shirt.]

B. Berry nice to meet you Cutiefly!
[Some time later, he's made his way down to Route 4 with what seemed to be a Pokedex in hand. He's aiming it towards the wild Cutiefly but--it doesn't respond. There's an annoyed look before he makes a motion seeming as if he's about to slam the Pokedex to the ground but he stopped, frowned to himself and lowers his hand.]

I guess there's no way to learn about any Pokemon outside of Johto and Kanto with this thing. What's the use of carrying it then?

C. Wildcard! - hit me with your best shot!

[There’s a redhead he isn’t used to seeing around! It isn’t Mayday, but a young boy… from Johto, judging by the PokeGear. A redheaded child from his region was already an odd and rare sight, but thinking he might be… someone… important, Buson stopped in his tracks, staring, before carrying on, with a more casual, friendly manner.]

Yeah, the Pokemon drifted in. Us guys from other regions suddenly endin’ up here are called drifted.

[Buson’s not in uniform and he’s likely not a face Silver knows, with or without his ever-present shades, but Buson didn’t want to scare off the kid whether or not he was the Boss’ son. He’s just lost, right?]

[Boy howdy, a stranger was already approaching him. So naturally, he'll be on guard as his eyes narrowed scanning Buson up and down. He didn't recognize the man, and he didn't seem to pose a threat but--he knew better than to trust anyone right off the bat.]

So you're saying this is nowhere in Johto. Figures.

[Immediately he's stuffing his Pokegear away, before once again staring at Buson.]

What do you want?

[overly familiar’s either rude, or honestly, kinda creepy]

Just checkin’ on ya, kid, don’t sweat it. You sounded a little lost, that’s all. ‘Sides, we’re practically family. Not too many folks from Johto here.

You’re in Ultern. No way back home from here, we all arrive and leave pretty suddenly. There’s no way’a travelling to other regions from here, either, you ain’t gonna find these islands on any’a our maps back home.

[Checking on him? "Practically family"? He's narrowing his eyes further at that, while taking an obvious step back.]

Who are you?

[--dummy! Of course some guy he just me was going to be truthful to him! Only person he's met who was like that was Kris but she's not around, obviously.

He does however take in the rest of Buson's words about Ultern. No way back home...faraway from Johto or any of the other regions? While anyone who was suddenly snatched away from home would look distressed, it seemed the young boy was suddenly interested in his surroundings as if looking for something.]

[The kid looked wary, initially, but Buson didn’t take a single step forward to close the distance. Let Silver do what he needed to feel safer.]

I work as a sailor. Used to work as a rice farmer and Miltank dairy farm hand here in Ohritori, that’s the island you’re on right now.

[Silver never gave him a name, so why should he?

Utterly unbothered by being away from home and even looking eager? Sounds like a runaway.]

Lookin’ for somethin’, kid? Even if you’re on the run… [An unsettlingly broad smile spread across his face.] No cops here know your face. [Now, with a pleasant, carefree and lighthearted tone.] So! Kick back, relax, and think of it as a vacation.

[After catching a bunch of Cutiefly on Route 2, Gold's made his way to Route 4 to release them. Standing in the flowerfield, opening a Pokeball after another, he spots a flash of red from the corner of his eye and looks- wait.

Is... is that Silver?]

HEEEEY!! SILVEERR!!

[Gold waves from the distance with a wide grin, scaring a bunch of Cutiefly. He pays them no mind. It's Silver!! Maybe it's not his Silver but he really hopes it is!]

[At the sound of Gold's familiar face, Silver immediately turned to his direction. His eyes are wide, and for a moment there's a hopeful look in his eyes until he fully registers Gold. His brows knit together, as his lips curled into a pronounced frown.

He looked like--well of course they would look a like, moron. Still he's wary. How did this kid know his name, but he's dressed like him?

But, but this place obviously isn't Johto, so could he really...? Uncertainty hung over him as he decided to cross his arms, and try to look little less scowl-y than usual.]

.....What? So you're fine with yelling out my name in the open now?

BLS I AM JUST INNOCENTLY ON THE RUN

[At the mention of cops got him to stop, as he returned his focus on Buson. He's making idiot moves in front of his stranger, but he wanted to get away pronto. He had to know what was around, and if what he was looking for was even here.

It wasn't like him to have his hopes up, and he hoped the other man didn't notice--but that look he had as he spoke made him uncomfortable. It was too much like that kid.]

Funny words coming from a supposedly friendly sailor.

[He threw right back to Buson, because holy heck what is with this creep? Wasn't dealing with one bad enough?! Of course it isn't-]

Why would you even think I'm on the run? I just got here.

[gold_drum]

[Gold jogs over to Silver happily, but stops a respectful distance away and scans the boy with his eyes. Well, he sure looks like his Silver, but something seems off in the way Silver looks at him.

And what Silver says means nothing to Gold, but sounds like something this Silver's talked about with Gold before. Well, not Gold himself, but some other Gold... Anyway, he's another Silver from another world, obviously!

That's kind of a shame, but it's nice to see another Silver anyway. ...And now that Gold's thinking that way, he feels bad about telling Ken off for treating him like the Gold from his world. It's not easy thinking of somebody who looks so familiar as a stranger.

Anyway, that's enough of staring at Silver, he needs to say something.]

Hey, you get the talk about different worlds yet? Because I guess you're not the Silver I know, and I'm not the Gold you know. Or the kid-named-something-other-than-Gold-who-looks-like-me you know. But I guess your name's Silver! Hi, I'm Gold.

[weeeeelp]

Now, when did I ever say 'friendly'? Puttin' words in my mouth... ya never gave me your name, so why should I feel safe enough to give you mine? I'm doin' all the talkin' here, ya never thought to think about my feelings? [It's all teasing, light, with that friendly smile still in place, but his voice took on a slightly darker edge, now.]

Because most kids look scared or upset when they find out there's no way home, or start lookin' for their mommies and daddies, but you looked a little too happy to have no way back to Johto. Sounds like someone itchin' to get away from home, either too protective a home situation, or just plain bad. You're a little too happy to be a lost child, so you're a runaway, even if you weren't before today.

Besides... s'not like you can't toss a rock without hitting a redhead in Johto... just not a common sight. Maybe in Galar or Unova or somethin', but Johto? You an' I won't fit in just anywhere. We look different, don't we?

... and it isn't just those looks that make us stick out like a sore thumb, is it, Silver?

[Well didn't he feel like an absolute fool, who managed to stumble out of bed with two different pairs of shoes on with his outfit on backwards. He shouldn't have gotten his hopes up to begin with given how eager the other hand been to leave. His gaze lowered contemplating for a moment how he should even talk to Gold, let alone acknowledge the other.

If anything, he shouldn't give away Chris's name. Around or not, Chris wouldn't like that and Silver wasn't a fan of it either.]

Forget what my name is, tell me--what's this about different worlds? You're not trying to pull my leg are you Gold?

[For now he's not going to deny or confirm whether Silver was really his name completely. Although wow! What kind of person gave out his real name like that- thought the kid who absolutely did this after stealing from Elm's lab.

[He's on edge still, with one hand slowly reaching for one his Pokeballs, the more the conversation continued. This man, whoever he was, he wasn't good news. He could be like them. Like Vasily. Like Lance, like--

His movements stilled when Buson continued. This man was aware of where he's from, vaguely of his situation and his name. It takes him a moment to slip his hand away from his Pokeball, opting to place a hand onto his hip.]

Don't tell me you belong with them? If you do, just get lost already. I don't have business with the likes of you, or any of you.

[What was the use of lying about his identity when the man clearly knew it already?]
