Mingle Post
[If you're listening to the radio today, there's a special announcement in the middle of the afternoon, after Ken's usual program has ended.]
-We interrupt this program for some special news! In Ohritori Island, a large swarm of Cutiefly have appeared in Route 2, near the Berry Farm! It seems they've drifted in from Alola. We ask any trainers to help with managing the swarm. A Cutiefly's natural habitat is in the Wildflower Cape, in Route 4, so we'd appreciate the help in relocating them there! So if you catch a lot of Cutiefly, please release them in Route 4 instead of anywhere else! I'd love to be there and do that myself, but I'm all the way at Chura Islands...
[Ken goes on to describe Cutiefly, it's habits and habitats. But maybe you're not listening to the radio, and doing something else instead?]
[[ooc: This is a mingle post, so I probably won't be replying much myself! If you've got anything you've been thinking about having your characters doing, but don't want to make a whole post about it, this is for you! Or you can go play around with Cutiefly. Maybe you'll encounter a shiny? The chances of meeting them are higher during swarms after all!]]

[ Volo has failed the 'have a conversation without mentioning Arceus' challenge... ]
Volo had no idea whether or not they were in the same boat. He didn't even know if he wanted to be in the same boat as Buson - that would depend on the boat, right? - but it felt much better to think that, for now, than to assume they had absolutely nothing in common. The latter would have left Volo feeling a little sad, even if he couldn't pinpoint why.
"Yes, that's a wonderful way of looking at it. In truth...in some ways, I already feel more at ease here. That is to say, I do miss my home - sometimes - but Ultern is certainly a kinder place, as you put it. There's so much I don't know, but that's why Almighty Arceus gave us the Lake Guardians, yes? So that we would be blessed with the ability to learn!"
Well, that was a very odd way of saying that he's not shunned and banished from human civilisation here...
Volo tried not to laugh as Buson explained his earlier faux pas, but he couldn't help it.
"Oh, dear...! I certainly didn't intend to say anything about that! What a dreadful mistake! I'm sorry to have subjected you to it, but thank you for explaining!"
He could feel his face beginning to relax. Whether that was because the Stun Spore had been washed off, or because he was less worried that Buson might have hated him, he wasn't sure.
"I'm Volo! May I have your name, sir?"
no subject
Buson blinked at the talk of Arceus and the Lake Guardians, but then cracked a smile. Well, he had heard that the people of Sinnoh were generally more religious, so it stands to reason someone from an even older form of it might be even moreso.
"I guess so!"
He didn't really know very much about their belief system, so he kept quiet on that topic.
It's nice to see Volo laugh, certainly better than the nervousness and clamming up from earlier. Now, Buson didn't have to feel so guilty about it.
"S'alright, it's kinda funny in retrospect, now that I know you don't mean nothing by it... just be careful what you say, Volo. It's nice to meet ya, properly this time. Y'can call me Buson. Or Attila, I go by that, too."
[ if only he knew that Buson has 'met' 2 (?) legendary pokemon...(tho he might not like the 'how') ]
Volo sometimes liked to drop a reference to a myth here and there, just to see how people reacted. On other occasions, it was just something he blurted out, because it seemed relevant to him. It would have been nice to find someone in Ultern who might have the same interest - and, even better, some new insights to share - but it didn't seem like this guy would turn out to be that person.
Volo politely returned his smile and nodded.
"I will try to be more careful. It's just difficult when you enjoy talking as much as I do! Even back home, I talked too much...but at least I had a better idea of the limits of what I should and shouldn't say!" He laughed and rubbed at the back of his neck. "But how nice that you have two names! I only have the one. May I ask, how did you come to have two names? Do you have a preference?"
[what Volo doesn’t know can’t hurt him~ /belatedly]
“Yeah, know what that’s like. If it isn’t talkin’ too much, it’s talkin’ too loud! Well, if people know you’re not used to this time, they should take it easy on ya… just find folks who understand, I guess.”
At the question, Buson could only keep smiling, but wouldn’t answer, at least not directly.
“I gotta keep goin’, since I gotta catch a ship. But Buson’s an old poet’s name.”
He turned away with a casual wave. “See ya, time-traveller.”
