[INTRO] X-ing over to a new land!

[WHERE: The entrance of Gilterrace Town.

X is taking a step forward only to stop. There's a dumbfounded look on his face as he's very obviously examining his surroundings. Slowly but surely his expression is becoming less and less expressive. While he doesn't say the question that's weighing his mind, he can be seen through out the town. His steps are on the quick side, as if looking for something or someone.]


[WHEN: Afternoon

X can be found on route 1--with a Pokedex in hand. There's an group of Ulternian Sunkerns frolicking about, minding their own business. X here just seemed absolutely baffled as his Pokedex not only recognize the Pokemon before him--but they were registering as a normal Sunkern.

Why was that...?

He seemed to be engrossed with his Pokedex, even with a Kangaskhan sitting directly behind him.]

[WHY: was he here?

Stubbornly refusing to return to town, X is setting up camp over at the Shrouded Woods. By setting camp it's more like he's found a hollow tree trunk and sitting there, not moving. He's tired, and he's given up on walking. Surely no one would come to look for him inside a tree trunk. No one suspicious, anyway.]


(ooc: come pester X from PokeSpe! He's a little bit before the epilogue but he shouldn't be as anti-social as he was near the start of his journey--)

Fascinating, aren't they?

[Alice only knows one Calemface from home, and he's blond, but she's got enough experience with lookalikes that she looks him over and ponders whether this is actually Calem or someone new. That aside, she turns back to the Sunkern.]

Ultern is full of regional forms like that, but these are the least recognizable I've seen outside of a randomizer.

[...You know, Calem has seen a lot of weird things in Ultern, but this? This might...actually take the cake--it's not really even him necessarily that finds something weird, he's walking about with Gorebyss ever at his side and she's apparently sniffed out something familiar and darted off--Calem close behind and trying to tell her to slow down.

The first thing that X is going to be greeted with is the over enthusiastic snout of a Gorebyss poking her head into the tree trunk and saying hello. He might hear a voice that's familiar calling after her--]

Gorebyss, darling, will you please get your head out of there? I haven't the faintest of clues what you've found but you need to stop--

[It's once he gets set on removing her, holding her like an unruly child, that he sees what she was looking at--it takes a few seconds for his eyes to adjust but...that's...]

...Hello? [he'll. he'll deal with the rest of this in a second but--] Are you...quite alright in there?

[He takes a moment to regard Alice from over his Pokedex. Why was she approaching him? Was she just genuinely curious about the odd looking Sunkern? He gave a brief glance to his Kangashkan (Kanga), and back to Alice.

"Regional forms". That was new, along with "Ultern". He really wasn't in Kalos?]

This place...where are we, exactly?

[All the while the Sunkerns are stretching their little sprouts as if trying to catch all of the sunlight beaming down on them.]

[X is stunned from the sound of a vaguely familiar voice (because not a lot of people recognized their own voice from the outside, really) to the sound of Gorebyss approaching. His hand out of habit reached for one of his Pokeballs the moment an enthused Gorebyss barged into his current living space.

In a brief second his mind flashed to Team Flare. Of course, this had to be one last ditch effort plan--but it's cut to a halt almost she's pulled away by her trainer. He's slowly moving his hand away from his Pokeballs until he saw Calem's face.

He's staring. Staring even longer before impulsively reaching out to grab for Calem's hand.]

Emma?! Emma why are you-!? I thought you got out of the suit? Why are you looking like that?

Ultern! It's a region subject to a strange phenomenon in which people and Pokémon alike are pulled through the stream from different points in spacetime. Parallel counterparts are common, as is coming upon scenarios you've never seen. The locals are used to strangers appearing, and a lot of them have been kind and accommodating. And the Pokémon population is very interesting to study! The Sunkern here, for example. Their behaviour is familiar even if their appearance isn't. Whereas the Dunsparce here... Well, they're significantly more aggressive.

[It didn't sound familiar in the least. Yet the trainer in front of him was being helpful. Was she someone he could trust? To do so he'd have to put his foot forward (figuratively). At least a tiny bit.]

What do you mean by pulled through a stream? Like by a Pokemon?

[It sounded like something a Legendary Pokemon could do. They were powerful, and full of mysteries.

Putting the Pokedex away, as it refused to acknowledge the current peculiar appearance of the Sunkerns. Said Sunkerns seemed to be swaying along with the gentle breeze.]

It's possible. We don't know. I haven't found anything to prove it one way or another, but we have had a rash of incidents as of late where mysterious and powerful Pokémon have appeared for some purpose and then gone back to where they came from! I do know it's not the Voices, if you've got that legend where you're from. Or at least I haven't seen any sign of them, and they're hard to miss.

Sunkern

Evie the talking Eevee is sitting on the fence. "Hi!" she greets. "They're neat, aren't they? I love meeting new friends!"

Oh it's an Eevee. He's seen Eevee before, as one of his friends had caught one--

wait.

Did that Eevee...just talk? No way that's possible. Surely it has to be someone really tiny, in an Eevee costume.

...who was he kidding, that was very obviously an Eevee. That talked.

"Uh, I...guess..." he really wanted to question how she could talk, or why. Was he dreaming? His Kangashkan--Kanga glanced over to Evie, but she did nothing as she didn't see Evie to be a threat of any kind. Instead her baby, Li'l Kanga popped out from the pouch to let out a little greeting.

[Mysterious and Powerful Pokemon showing up out of the blue? That almost sounded like Team Flare was behind the incident. He's frowning to himself while watching a Sunkern tripping, and rolling over. Yet it didn't seem to mind too much that it had fell as it's sprout is upright, and reaching for the sun still.]

I don't think I've heard of any legends about any voices. All I know are the ones about Xerneas and Yveltal. Two Pokemon that "give" and "take"... but that's about it.

[Half true. The less Alice knew, the better anyway. Especially if Team Flare was out there, lurking somewhere.

He's lowering his Pokedex now to watch Kanga (his Kangashkan) moving to help up the Sunkern that's fallen down. There, there!]

Evie happily greeted both Kangashkan too!

"Have you been here long? There's so much to see!"

Oh, we have those, too! Though I think our legend might be a little different from yours, given the patterns that -- oh! [She smiles.] Your Pokémon seem very nice. You must work well together. Do you battle?

"Patterns"?

[X couldn't help but narrow his eyes when Alice had cut away from what she was saying. He was trying to discern whether or not she was purposefully keeping information away from him. His expression remained neutral as he kept his eyes on Alice.

Kanga however smiled at the little Sunkern, completely at ease.

Judging by how at ease Kanga was, maybe he was being too on guard? Plus based on Alice's appearance she seemed around his age...]

We battle from time to time. Why do you ask? Are you interested in a battle?

X doesn't respond as he was fine in watching Kanga and Li'l Kanga interact with Evie. However he'll notice Kanga glancing over to him, expecting him to respond. Well...talking to a talking Eevee (however bizarre and concerning) should be safer than a strange adult, right?

"It's been a few hours, I think. How long have you been here?" He questioned, while wondering just how much Evie knew about where they were. Or if she had been in the same predicament as he has.

[Hey, isn't that Calem? Ash wonders as he watches him move, noticing the other boy has something in his mind. But after a short while, Ash knew he couldn't just stand and mull about it when he could ask.]

Hey Calem! What are you doing?

[Someone was calling out to him--"Calem"? He didn't know that name. Yet that person who called out to him sounded young. Around his age, perhaps? He turned to Ash at first curious before masking his expression.

He was quick to look over the boy standing nearby and his Pikachu.]

Do I know you...?

Huh? What d'you mean, it's me Ash!

[Unless... Ash is quick to figure out one possibility, given how this place works...]

...Wait, could it be that you've just drifted here?

[Ash...that wasn't a name he recognized. That and the fact Ash's accent...he clearly wasn't Kalosian. While pondering this it seemed Ash too had came to his own conclusions about him, which made X frown.

He really didn't enjoy being in the dark, and not know where any of his friends were.]

What do you mean by "drifted"? Where is "here" anyway?

[Ah, as Ash thought... he's only just drifted. He knows it won't be easy to explain the kind of situation X's in right now, however it's only fair that he has to know.]

Wherever you were, you're not there anymore. This is Ultern, a region in another world far away from ours.

[His expression softens before continuing.]

The "drifted" is what everyone in this region calls us here. You're not the only one drifted here. Both me and Pikachu aren't from here too, y'see. And we don't really know how or why we were brought here to begin with.

[Ultern. He's never heard of a region by that name, but the way Ash explained it and from the look on his face it gave X pause. It didn't seem like the other was lying, and yet...

He couldn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it. After everything he and his friends went through, he was somehow ripped away from them? No, that couldn't be. Y and the others had to be close by!

Without another word to Ash, X immediately turned away. With a sudden fervor in his movement he's back to his search.]

Y! Y, where are you!? Answer me! Give me a sign! Anything-!

[Oh heck, X is panicking. Quickly he grabs the other's arm.]

Calem, calm down! Look, I get it. It's scary knowing you're far away from home, but you gotta calm down first!

[He felt Ash's hand on his arm, causing him to turn to face him.]

No, you don't understand! I have to find them!

[How could this kid even begin to understand? He was completely oblivious like the rest of the populace in Lumiose City. He should just make him feel the same way he did-

That ugly thought bubbling up to the surface was what made X freeze up. He's staring into Ash's face, as the boy's words were sinking into him. Ash was desperately trying to reach out to him. Just like he had to Emma. Or his friends who had reached out to him.

What was he thinking? Holding such awful thoughts, like Team Flare?]

[He's notably relaxing in Ash's hold. All the while X averts his gaze from the younger trainer, ashamed of his own actions.]

[At first he's taken aback at X's initial reaction. From the desperation he could hear in the other's voice, it's telling that he's worried for someone, perhaps someone important judging by how he called out their name. Maybe his friends? He wonders as the moments pass before he could feel X regaining his composure in his grip.

After X apologizes, Ash wears a soft smile in response.]

It's fine. You're just worried about your friends, aren't you?

[He then lets go of X's arm.]

Only if you want to! I'm more interested in research, but I'd never say no to one. [She blinks.] Usually people don't ask me to get back to the multiversal physics talk. It would appear that the various dimensions drawn in by this archipelago and from which visitors are sampled can be characterized with constants and variables. For instance, Pokémon exist in all of them, but sometimes they're different from world to world, or what the scientific community knows about them is. Another is that you'll find a lot of people with similar names, backgrounds, and/or appearances. For instance, you look a good deal like my friend Calem. Have you met?
