Suddenly in the midst of a Summer Festival--

There's a distinct sound of waves, and bustling of people nearby.
In the coastal city of Turnbloom the sun is bright and warm, and the scent of the sea wafts through with the cool gentle breeze that makes the glittering pinwheels spin, and the leaves on the palm tree dance.
Today the streets are extra decorated with these cute, colorful and floral shaped pinwheels. It seemed the people who were out in the streets were dressed in colorful summer attire--either casual, or the more traditional yukata. It seemed like with the booths were set out for both food and games for festival of some kind that was currently underway.
Just how did you get here, and why? A mystery, and it seemed the people in the streets didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary as they go about enjoying their time out on this bright sunny day.

Was it purely by chance then that a Clefable was wandering past the Unovan duo? Or that the little Phantump that was catching a ride on its wings was turning a very curious look towards them? It made a little pitty pat on the Clefable's head, and now the fairy was giving them an intrigued look as well.
Yes? You summoned them?? Hello???
[this is the cutest, funniest misunderstanding, thank you]
Then, the Phantump between its wings, reaching out to pat Clefable, caught his attention.
A Ghost type he'd never seen before too! It was even more adorable and the way it patted the Clefable was precious, it would make a very good photograph.
He rose to his feet, Serperior moving into a threatening position as well, while Trip narrowed his gaze and carefully watching the two with suspicion—but it was also his first time seeing either species up close, so he couldn't help but pull out his camera.
His first instinct was, of course, to take pictures.
[i could not resist]
The tiny charge that seemed to recognize the significance of what was in Trip's hands. It gave Clefable another patpat.
Then it posed.
Off in the far distance, a brunette was sprinting across the sand. Probably this was not important.

Trip snapped a photograph, because he simply couldn't resist, but Clefable's expression and fluttering wings did seem less than comfortable with their scrutiny, so he waved his hand down and Serperior relaxed... for the most part, and Trip took a step forward.
"... I won't hurt you," he began, with his camera lowered. "I was just taking pictures. I'll stop if you don't like it."
Maybe he made a mistake? Or maybe the fairy was only pretending to be frightened, to invoke pity, so he'll let his guard down? He opted to remain cautious.

The Serperior's relaxation and that gentle reassurance, coupled with the Phantump's encouragement seemed to be the right kind of combo. The Clefable wasn't about to put its whole guard down either, but it gave a little shake of its head and made a happy enough sounding trill.
Photos were fine! They were very cute, it was true! She would even lift up a paw to pose, with her little ghost friend excitedly raising up both arms to match. Picture time! Picture time!
"...Oh! Hey! Aralia!"
no subject
And, they're both posing! Trip would take pictures right away, zooming in and also stepping around to take them from different angles.
A voice...? Trip's gaze followed the sound while still looking through the viewfinder of his camera. Was it the disregarded girl from earlier?
"Aralia...?"
no subject
There, running right into the field of Trip's viewfinder, was indeed the girl disregarded. She was coming in hot with arms outstretched, and hey! Here came Clefable running in from out of frame to meet her. "Here's where you got off to," the girl was saying with a laugh as the Phantump flew right into those arms.
With both of her Pokemon gesturing over towards the camera, it only took her a moment to glance over at their new acquantinces. "Oh! Hello!"
[such manners, such friendliness]
The boy pocketed his camera and Serperior slithered to his side as both studied Blue.
“You… wouldn’t happen to know how we got here, would you?” Trip asked, somewhat coldly, although not outright blaming her at least!
[she's well versed in cranky boys]
"I have no idea," she said cheerfully as she rubbed behind the Clefable's ear. "I take it you both woke up on the beach too?"
Or maybe that particular arrival was just her.
[handling them like a pro, good job, Blue!]
Drat, drat, and double drat! You weren’t supposed to see through his ice king facade so quickly!Serperior shook its head and Trip blinked, then looked down to the ground, realizing he’d made a mistake, but also still a bit wary of the other trainer.
“Serperior was in his pokeball when I first got here.”
Serperior’s tail loosely coiled around Trip, although both still otherwise wore coolly detached expressions.
“I just found myself in the middle of that festival, while they were setting up, with no idea how I got here… you mean you’re new here too? I got your Pokemon’s name, but not yours, by the way. My name’s Trip.”
no subject
T o o B a d ."I see. That would make it more obvious things were amiss, huh..."
Her smile stayed nice and warm despite the reception she was getting. They just kept doing sweet things! Such a regal Pokemon wouldn't have been so protective over just anyone. The trust there had to be immense. Sorry to say you'd earned another positive point there, Trip.
"Ha, well! I didn't give it to you yet! I'm Blue. You know Aralia," she patted the Clefable again, who waved much more readily now that her trainer was here. The Phantump in her arm had circled around to float around her shoulders, peeking through her hair at the duo again as Blue tilt her head towards her. "And this is Myrtle. We were just in Kalos yesterday, so this is kind of an unexpected detour, but it's nice to meet both of you."
no subject
"It's nice to meet you, Miss Blue."
Serperior gave a small nod of acknowledgement to both Aralia and Myrtle.
It was so cute, peeking through her hair, Trip couldn't help but be excited and reached for his camera again, thinking to ask permission at the last second. Yup, the frosty veneer has all but melted, he's very enthusiastic about photography.
"... can I take Myrtle's picture again?" he asked hopefully. "You don't mind if I take yours, right? ... I've never been to Kalos or Kanto yet, so this is the first time I've met a Clefable or Phantump. I want to remember it."
no subject
Oh, she hadn't expected him to warm up so quickly. Good job, Myrtle! Blue couldn't help her smile brightening. "Of course! I don't mind being in it, but we both know who the real star is." She knew who it was too, slipping down behind Blue to play peek-a-boo over her other shoulder. Catch her if you can, Trip!!
"I didn't get a chance to meet a Serperior when we were in Unova, so! A real good encounter for us both."
no subject
With a smile, he took several snapshots, clearly enjoying the little game, before resuming conversation.
“Really? How long were you in Unova?”
Snivy’s one of the Starter Pokemon, so that’s odd! But if thought back to it himself, he hardly ever saw other Serperior too…
no subject
"How long..." Blue tapped her chin briefly, looking down at the Clefable for a moment. "Was it two years, Aralia?" The fairy mimicked her trainer with a thoughtful tap to her cheek, nodding with a sing-songy fa~ble.
"We met a few Snivys," she went on as the little ghost swept around the grass-type in a wide circle, "but Serperior sightings were rare! And seeing one isn't the same as getting to say hello, y'know?"
[oof, I think it lost my reply…]
“Hm… as for seeing more Snivy than Serperior, that makes sense,” Trip said as he watched his Serperior. “Serperior are very selective about who they choose to follow. If the trainer isn’t up to their high standards…”
They might just leave.
Serperior kept its head loftily high, but its tail was relaxed and there was nothing aggressive about its posture or expression, its tail didn’t rattle as it would against a legitimate threat, it simply stood proud and reserved. It calmly observed Myrtle studying it.
[and then work ate me]
"You've got something real special then." Best hang on to that, Trip.
Myrtle gently booped the Serperior's snoot, and Blue laughed a bit as she circled back to his first question. "Unova was fun! There were... a lot more monkeys than I expected, to be honest."
[and then work did the same to me :D;;;]
He hadn’t been worthy of it before, of that, he was certain, but he was trying and Serperior stayed by his side regardless.
Myrtle booping it surprised Serperior, who blinked, then swung (very gently and lightly!) its tail as if to half-heartedly swat at Myrtle. Then, it waved its tail around, as if trying to tease it… can you catch it, Myrtle?
Blue’s next answer did take Trip by surprise, but he gave a huff of a laugh.
“Panpour, Pansage, and Pansear, you mean? Did you do the gym challenge while you were there? Of the triplets, Mr. Chili’s the easiest to beat.”
He was on a major losing streak when Trip challenged him, you see…
