Another day

A - Route 1

It's an ordinary day like any other, and if you pass by Professor Banyan's lab, you'll see Gold practicing kendama tricks out in the yard, too absorbed to notice you. He's not very good, but not disastrously bad either. Say hi to him?

B - Professor Banyan's house, backdated to the day after the summer festival

This morning, almost as soon as he wakes up, Gold sets out to look for Professor Banyan, hoping he's turned back to normal by now.

"Professor?" he calls out as he wanders around the house.

C - backdated to the day after the summer festival, closed to golddream

Once that's done, Gold's retreating to his room and calling Kam's number on his Pokegear.

"Hey Kam, I met another me," is how he greets him.

Gold just smiles! It's obvious Chloe's a little weirded out, but reactions like that are what Gold was hoping for when he picked that name.

"Thank you! I've been practicing!" Gold says proudly. Well, now that he's got an audience, he's got to show off a little more! He'll do a few more simple kendama tricks, keeping an eye on Eevee to make sure she doesn't try to catch the ball again.

Chloe is also keeping a close eye on Eevee, who is clearly fascinated.

“You’re pretty good,” she says.

"Thanks!" Gold says, as he lands the ball on top of the kendama, and lets it rest there. "I got this as a present a while ago, so I decided I might as well learn to use it. Wanna try it out?" He offers it to Chloe.

[chloeandeevee]

"Sure," Chloe says in surprise. She takes it and tries a few times, but she isn't so good at it.

Eevee watches. "Eevee-vee!"

[gold_drum]

"That's good for a first try! Right, Eevee?" Gold says, turning to Eevee.

[chloeandeevee]

"Eevee-Eevee!" beams Eevee.

"You must practice with it a lot," Chloe says, moving to hand it back.

[gold_drum]

Gold smiles at Eevee, and takes the kendama back.

"Nah, it's not that much. About once or twice a week. I've got a lot of free time here in Ultern, so I've been getting into new hobbies."

[chloeandeevee]

"That's neat. We've been doing a lot of exploring and researching, haven't we, Eevee?" Chloe smiles.

Eevee happily chirps.

[gold_drum]

"That reminds me, did you ever find Ash? Or anyone else you knew from home?" Gold asks.

[chloeandeevee]

"Yeah, we did!" Chloe smiles. "We haven't seen anyone else, though."

[gold_drum]

"Hey, that's better than me. I haven't met anybody from home here," Gold says, idly tossing the ball up and down.

[chloeandeevee]

"Oh. I'm sorry," Chloe says. "You must be lonely."

[gold_drum]

"Huh? Not really. I got friends here," Gold says. "I guess I miss my best friend though. Maybe I am a little lonely."

[chloeandeevee]

"I definitely miss Goh. Who's your best friend?" Chloe asks.

[gold_drum]

"His name's Silver! He's kinda like my rival," Gold says, his smile brightening. "What's Goh like?"

[chloeandeevee]

"... Nugget and Silver," Chloe muses to herself. Strange.

She smiles. "Goh is very excited about all kinds of Pokemon. He wants one of every kind! His dream is to catch Mew."

[gold_drum]

"Naming kids after minerals is also normal in my world," Gold says, and it's not even a lie.

"Whoa, all of them? And Mew? Is that a really rare Pokemon or something?" he asks, not very knowledgeable about Pokemon.

[chloeandeevee]

"... That's interesting. Any minerals or just specific ones?" Chloe imagines people named Zinc or Calcium or Magnesium.

She smiles and nods. "Really rare, and really hard to catch even if you find him!"

[gold_drum]

"Yeah, any of them. My mom's named Platinum," Gold says, and and only half of it is a lie.

"Huh, that's a pretty cool goal then," Gold says. "My goal's just to get really super rich though. What about you, you got a goal?"

[chloeandeevee]

"Wow," Chloe says. She wonders if she could greet someone named Magnesium or Calcium with a straight face.

She looks thoughtful. How she had hated that question in the past. Not anymore, though.

"I want to study Pokemon evolution," she says. "It's really fascinating!"

"Eevee-vee!" Eevee squeals.

Chloe laughs. "Eevee loves all her evolutions so much, she can't pick one!"

[gold_drum]

It could be worse, it could be someone named Natural Harmonia

"Oh!" Gold blinks. "Yeah, I guess it is, huh! My Eevee evolved on his own, but there's a lot of different Pokemon he could've become, huh?" He takes out his Umbreon, Mateo's Pokeball and looks at it with consideration. "And I heard from Professor Banyan that some of Eevee's evolutions have different forms in Ultern too."

“There sure are!” And Chloe’s eyes widen. “Really?! Did he say what?”

“Vee?!” Eevee exclaims in joy.

[gold_drum]

"Uhh, all I remember was that there's an Ulternian Umbreon that's a poison-type," Gold says, scratching his head, "And there were two others, I think? Dunno what they were though."

Eevee's enthusiasm is cute to see! Gold smiles at the sight.

[chloeandeevee]

"A Poison type? Wow, that's amazing! We'll have to talk to him, won't we, Eevee?" Chloe smiles.

"Vee-vee-vee!" Eevee jumps happily in the air.

[gold_drum]

"Yeah, you should! If you wanna research Pokemon then he's good to talk to. Oh, and this is his house," Gold says with a smile, then turns to point at the house they're standing in front of.
