Another day

A - Route 1

It's an ordinary day like any other, and if you pass by Professor Banyan's lab, you'll see Gold practicing kendama tricks out in the yard, too absorbed to notice you. He's not very good, but not disastrously bad either. Say hi to him?

B - Professor Banyan's house, backdated to the day after the summer festival

This morning, almost as soon as he wakes up, Gold sets out to look for Professor Banyan, hoping he's turned back to normal by now.

"Professor?" he calls out as he wanders around the house.

C - backdated to the day after the summer festival, closed to golddream

Once that's done, Gold's retreating to his room and calling Kam's number on his Pokegear.

"Hey Kam, I met another me," is how he greets him.

Chloe is walking along with Eevee and spots Gold. Smiling, she goes over. "Hi there."

Eevee exclaims in glee. "Vee! Vee-vee-vee!" She thinks it looks fun!

[gold_drum]

Gold looks up from bouncing the ball on the cup and gives a smile when he sees them.

"Oh hey, it's you! Uh..." He blanks out on the name. Did he ever even hear her name? "Ash's friend!"

Smiling at Eevee's enthusiasm, Gold shows off the most impressive trick he's mastered so far! It's nothing advanced, but it should look pretty cool.

B

[ulternprofessor]

Beni, ever the early riser (or maybe he was up late researching as usual-) will be found with a cup of coffee in hand out in the living room. When he noticed Gold, the older man will smile over to him.

Nearby Tipper's curled up a sleep on the couch with Chikorita who's by the window sill eagerly absorbing the sunlight.

"G'morning Gold! What's up?"

Kam was--doing Kam things(?) obviously. He was somewhere outside, when his Pokegear rang. What he didn't expect first thing was Gold's casualness in meeting a double.

"...what was that? When? Where?"

[gold_drum]

"You're back!" Gold's smile brightens as he sees the Professor, and he practically prances over to sit near him, then gives him a searching stare. "Do you remember yesterday?"

[gold_drum]

"Yesterday, at the festival," Gold says, still casual. "A lot happened after that, so I couldn't call, but I'm pretty sure he was from your world. He said his name was Ethan, but that was probably a lie."

[chloeandeevee]

"Yeah. I'm Chloe," she smiles.

Excited, Eevee jumps on two legs and tries to catch the ball herself.

Chloe tries to grab her. "No, Eevee! That's not how it works!"

[gold_drum]

"I'm Nugget! But you can call me Ed for short," Gold says, having gotten into fake names since the last time they met.

"Whoa!" He pulls the kendama back in surprise when Eevee tries to go for the ball, and ends up bonking himself on the head. "Ow!"

[chloeandeevee]

"Nugget?" Chloe blinks in surprise.

She's quickly distracted. "Oh no! Are you alright?!"

Eevee stops and looks up in concern. "Eevee?"

[gold_drum]

"Yep! Like the food. I dunno why everyone thinks it's a weird name here, there's people named after colors and stuff everywhere. It's a totally normal name in my world!" Gold lies easily with a smile.

"I'm fine," Gold says with a small laugh, holding his head. "It's not heavy. Here, look!" He pulls at the string to throw the ball up in the air and makes it land in the bowl, showing how light the ball is to throw.

"Oh. That's ... interesting," Chloe blinks, not wanting to be rude even though she's definitely a little weirded out.

She smiles now. "That looks fun!"

Eevee goes on two legs and claps her front paws. "Eevee-vee!"

Gold just smiles! It's obvious Chloe's a little weirded out, but reactions like that are what Gold was hoping for when he picked that name.

"Thank you! I've been practicing!" Gold says proudly. Well, now that he's got an audience, he's got to show off a little more! He'll do a few more simple kendama tricks, keeping an eye on Eevee to make sure she doesn't try to catch the ball again.

Chloe is also keeping a close eye on Eevee, who is clearly fascinated.

“You’re pretty good,” she says.

Maybe it was a good thing they weren't talking about this in person. Kam didn't want Gold to see the hopeful look that formed on his face. Bringing a hand up to his face to try and calm himself he'll respond.

"...yeah? What makes you think he's from my world? There's plenty of others here, from different worlds, and regions even."

[gold_drum]

"Thanks!" Gold says, as he lands the ball on top of the kendama, and lets it rest there. "I got this as a present a while ago, so I decided I might as well learn to use it. Wanna try it out?" He offers it to Chloe.

[gold_drum]

"Good question!" Gold grins as he sits cross-legged on his bed. "There's a bunch of stuff he said that made me kinda suspicious, but the biggest one is, when I asked for his phone number, he gave me yours. I feel like that kinda gives him away."

[golddream]

Kam listened once more. What had Gold's double said that were suspicious? He waits on Gold to elaborate until he dropped the bomb about the phone number. He grows quiet, as his grip on the Pokegear tightened.

"...that's him. It's Silver. I don't think he was trying to throw you off by giving out that number." Kam's gaze moved upward, gazing at how the leaves swayed from the wind. "Because this Pokegear used to be his."

[gold_drum]

"...Huh? Oh." So it wasn't intentional... Wait, but why? "But he had a Pokegear too. Did he forget his new number? Or do you both have the same Pokegear and the same number through some kinda, I dunno, time paradox? Does that mean when I called you I coulda accidentally called him instead? Wait, you probably don't know how that'd work either, I guess."

[chloeandeevee]

"Sure," Chloe says in surprise. She takes it and tries a few times, but she isn't so good at it.

Eevee watches. "Eevee-vee!"

[gold_drum]

"That's good for a first try! Right, Eevee?" Gold says, turning to Eevee.

[chloeandeevee]

"Eevee-Eevee!" beams Eevee.

"You must practice with it a lot," Chloe says, moving to hand it back.

[golddream]

There's a sigh from Kam.

"People can come here from different worlds and time, right? If he still had his Pokegear then he's from the past. That's my guess anyway, since..." there's hesitation on Kam's part. He really didn't want to think back on it but Silver really hung over his mind like a persistent nightmare. "...only reason I even found him was because he left his stuff behind. I wouldn't have thought to look for him otherwise."

[gold_drum]

Gold smiles at Eevee, and takes the kendama back.

"Nah, it's not that much. About once or twice a week. I've got a lot of free time here in Ultern, so I've been getting into new hobbies."

[gold_drum]

"Huh, yeah, I guess that makes sense. So this is Silver and not the other guy you hated, then? That's good. I was worried the whole time I was talking to him since I wasn't sure. But the guy you were looking for is here!" Gold's smile is clear in his voice as he says that.

Gold doesn't really get why finding his stuff lead to thinking to look for him, but he doesn't really get a lot of Kam and Silver's whole deal. Time travel and everything.

"...I dunno how to find him again though. Since his phone number is the same as yours and calling it just calls your phone. I gave him Ken's number instead of mine though since I thought he was giving me a fake number on purpose, so maybe I can tell Ken to keep an ear out for him. And maybe Ken can ask his stalker friend to find him or something, I dunno."

[chloeandeevee]

"That's neat. We've been doing a lot of exploring and researching, haven't we, Eevee?" Chloe smiles.

Eevee happily chirps.
