[Being drifted into the Ultern Region seems to be a confusing phenomenon. One moment, Professor Sycamore was in his lab. Then the next thing he knew, he was at the beach standing in front of the sea just as he left to get some coffee at a nearby café. And that's after he noticed that he still has his lab coat on. Well, this isn't the weirdest thing he ever encounters in his life. If anything, finding out where he was transported is the least of his worries.]

[Turnbloom City]

[For some dumb luck reason, Professor Sycamore manages to find his way in Turnbloom City. While he was still wandering around to check out the sites of the city, it doesn't mean he doesn't have time to introduce himself to the locals and other Drifters.]

Why hello! I mean, Ulsai! I was hoping you might recommend me some cafes available here in Turnbloom.

[Otherwise, if you like, you can approach him while he looks around the city.]

[Oh! And thanks to his shout, the Pokemon Professor quickly notices a familiar face.]

Hello, Ash! It's been a while, huh?

[Then he sees Greninja.]

And it's nice to see you too, Greninja.

[Greninja croaks in acknowledgement, though he sounds more reserved than usual. It definitely has been a while, but Ultern isn't exactly one of the places Ash hoped and expected to meet Sycamore again, or anyone for that matter.

While it's nice to see Sycamore's doing well, Ash look less happy and more concerned.]

Professor, how long have you been here? Has anyone told you where you are yet?

[Sycamore hums. That's a good question considering he just found himself on the beach so suddenly.]

You can say I just arrived here. I just left through the door of my lab to take a break at a nearby cafe back in Lumiose City. But when I did, I just found myself right here.

[And yes, he notices Ash's concern.]

I can guess something similar has happened to you, am I right?

[Well, he said it. Though so far he's taking his sudden drifting into Ultern rather well.]

[He nods.]

So you've just drifted here only now...

[No, no he shouldn't falter in front of the professor. He should know his current situation straight away.]

Um, let's just say you're not in Kalos anymore. Or anywhere from our world in fact.

[Drifted? That's new for Sycamore and from Ash's look alone, something tells him he might not be able to go back to his lab or Kalos that easily.]

So where are we exactly?

[Ash glances at his Pikachu, then his Greninja. And without saying a word, the two Pokemon knew this might take long. Pikachu then moves away from Ash and leads all the other Pokemon away to leave Sycamore and Ash to themselves.]

We're in Ohritori Island... in the Ultern region. I'm not sure if you've heard of it Professor, but I haven't when my buddy and I suddenly drifted in here long ago.

[Sycamore hums in thought at this revelation.]

I see. I haven't heard of the Ultren region as well. This one is very new to me.

It's still a bit hard to wrap my head around it to be honest... But from what I understand, we're like in another world?

[Ash proceeds to make gestures as he attempts to explain to Sycamore about their situation.]

And you can't get out of it somehow. Believe me Professor, I tried!

[It sucks!! What a bummer!! Ash pouts as he thought of his past attempts in escaping Ultern's boundaries.]

[Well, if that's true, then that would explain why he and Ash never heard of the Ultren region before.]

Did you try calling someone outside Ultren by phone?

I've tried too. Like, I tried to reach Professor Cerise, or Professor Oak, all my friends, even my Mom too...

[He shakes his head.]

The people here told me we're all cut off from the rest of the world, so nothing ever leaves this region. Heck, not even trying to fly away from it works either.

[Okay, so contacting his assistants, Alain, and Mairin through the phone is out of option then.]

I guess using Teleport would affect the same way, but let's not jump to conclusions. For now, we should focus on the positives and see if there is some way to contact anyone outside the region through other means.

[Sycamore's optimism did help Ash feel reassured as he perks up and nods. With the Professor around, maybe things would turn up for the better and that they'd be able to get back home soon. So he trusts whatever he has in mind.]

Where do you suggest we start looking, Professor? Maybe I can help!

The first thing we should do is consult with the knowledge they have on Ultren. Do you know any Pokemon Professors living here?

[That's easy!]

Yup, his name is Professor Banyan. In fact...

[Since they're in Route 1, Ash points to the lone red-roofed house not too far from where they are. He's passed by this road far too many times, so Banyan's lab is a familiar sight.]

...His lab's just over there! Though he goes out a lot doing fieldwork, so I'm not sure if he's inside today.

[Well, at least there is another professor that might help them out. Although if what Ash said is true, he should try finding him when he has some free time.]

Then, is there anywhere I can stay for the time being? I'll see if I can contact him once I find temporary accommodation to continue my research.

[A place to stay... a few come to Ash's mind.]

I know a place! There's a Pokemon Center in a city called Turnbloom just further ahead from here, as well as a few inns too. I can take you there if you'd like, Professor!

[Sycamore nods in approval.]

Lead the way, Ash.

[And he will follow the young boy to wherever the city is.]

[With approval from Sycamore, Ash turns to his team then proceeds to recall all of his Pokemon back into their ball.]

Alright, everyone return! We'll continue our training another time!

[Once Pikachu climbs onto Ash, the young Trainer leads the way towards Turnbloom City. The pinwheels hanging over their heads begin spinning as the ocean breeze blows through. Turnbloom as he might have noticed wasn't as huge as Lumiose, but it still has that distinct urban jungle feel to it.

Soon enough Ash will point to the Pokemon Center just up ahead.]

It's right over there, Professor!

[Sycamore sees the building ahead, much to his relief.]

I can see it. Thanks, Ash.

[For the rest of the day, Ash potentially showed the professor around the city for the rest of the city. Despite his situation, at least Sycamore is lucky enough to see Ash again.]
