[Being drifted into the Ultern Region seems to be a confusing phenomenon. One moment, Professor Sycamore was in his lab. Then the next thing he knew, he was at the beach standing in front of the sea just as he left to get some coffee at a nearby café. And that's after he noticed that he still has his lab coat on. Well, this isn't the weirdest thing he ever encounters in his life. If anything, finding out where he was transported is the least of his worries.]

[Turnbloom City]

[For some dumb luck reason, Professor Sycamore manages to find his way in Turnbloom City. While he was still wandering around to check out the sites of the city, it doesn't mean he doesn't have time to introduce himself to the locals and other Drifters.]

Why hello! I mean, Ulsai! I was hoping you might recommend me some cafes available here in Turnbloom.

Speaking of which, my name is Augustine Sycamore. I'm a Pokemon Professor researching Mega Evolution.

[Breath clearly hitching in his throat… this man’s a real VIP! Nevertheless, he extended his hand for a shake.]

Sounds interesting, why don’t you tell me all about it? I’ll treat ya.

I actually helped do some field research myself. Not a professor or anythin’ fancy like that, I’m more like an overglorified mechanic, but I helped out.

Sorry, forgot to properly introduce myself. The name’s Akira. I’m from Johto.

Ah, I see. I do know of a mechanic who sometimes helps me with fixing some of the machinery back in my lab.

[Not to mention helping him on his Mega Evolution research with the mechanic's Blaziken, but there is no way he will break a promise to keep that a secret.

As for him being suspicious, a bit doubtful considering he didn't hesitate to accept the handshake.]

[Sycamore picks up the said menu from the table. It took him a few minutes to go through it what he wanted.]

Yago Chanpuru, Ulternian Soba... There is a marvelous selection of dishes here in Ultren!

Alright, Ulternian soba and gyoza for me!

[He'd enjoy a meal too! They can drink while they wait for their orders to be made and take in the atmosphere. Attila's no lightweight, so he'll keep a clear head if he paces himself.]

[Sycamore orders the ones he said out loud. While he can drink, he mostly drinks in moderate amounts.]

So what is Ultren like so far? I just recently arrived here.

Real welcomin'. They're gentle, peaceful folk. Kind an' hospitable.

... really generous, even with their food, you'll see what I mean! [Grinning at the prospect.]

The land itself feels a lot like Hoenn or Alola, if you've ever been. Tropical. There's some unique regional forms, too...

I can see a bit of a resemblance to Hoenn's, especially their cuisine from the menu.

[He hasn't been to those regions lately, but he can feel the hospitality from the residents here.]

Interesting. I only heard of regional forms from other professors, so this is rare for me to meet one in person. Did you see them?

Oh, yeah. Saw some real interestin' Pichu, egg-shaped...

[Which he terrorized, absorbed their electric attacks into the Crystal System, and loaded into cages, hoping to send them to Team Rocket, but Sycamore doesn't need to know about all that. There's only a hint of something darker behind his shaded eyes; otherwise, his tone and manner is relaxed and jovial as ever.

Here are their drinks! Now, they'll just have to wait for their meals.]

The Blissey here are all funny colours an' shapes too. Saw one that looked like it got a 'lil frilly apron on.

[He watched Sycamore intently while holding his drink, looking like he wanted to make a toast.]

That is marvelous to hear! I hope I can see other Pokemon by myself very soon.

[Good news: He notices that At- I mean, Akira wants to have a toast, so he raises a glass to do so. Bad news: He is still not suspicious upon seeing his shaded eyes.]

[He drinks it (a bit slowly. Again, he's a moderate drinker) with none the wiser.]

What's been your favourite topics to research so far? Got any research published?

[Attila's pacing himself by his standards, he just doesn't look it!]

[Good, while he's unsuspecting, he'll keep his questions vague and innocuous.]

It's not much of a favorite of mine, but I've trying to research the connection between Trainer and Pokemon that would activate Mega Evolution.

[There is also Ash's Greninja's Bond Phenomenon, but he rather not talk about it in public just in case.]

As for my published research, I did so with Mega Evolution, including the topic I mentioned regarding the connections.

It takes a special kinda bond or something? It's not every species of Pokemon that can do Mega Evolve like that, isn't it?

That sounds great! Wish I could read 'em. Might not get very much, but I think it'd be interestin' anyway.

[Sycamore shakes his head.]

I'm afraid so. Some of the Pokemon that are fully evolved can use Mega Evolution and that includes Pokemon that cannot evolve such as Sableye and Audino.

[He then chuckles.]

I wish I could have brought one of my books with me. But considering my strange circumstances arriving here... It's a bit of a shame.

[Attila having no idea if he'll even remember any info he gleams here when/if he goes home, fff]

Yeah, a real shame... but hey, you gotta chance to study new things here too, right?

[Oh, their food's ready! Soba, gyoza, and chanpuru.]

That is true. Who knows? I might discover some new Pokemon and Mega Evolutions here.

[Once the food came, it didn't take long for both men to enjoy the local cuisine Ultren has to offer. For the rest of the day, they continue to chatter about many things with Sycamore being none the wiser who "Akira" really is.]
