mysterious places, perfect harmony

[Someplace in Turnbloom City is a wandering Yamask equipped with a small leather backpack and gold bracers. His arms are curled, hands planted firmly in the straps of his backpack as he takes in the sights and sounds of this new place. He can be spotted at several different locations.]


[A] Stardust Beach

[Chenzira's closely inspecting the sand. He's experienced the sands of Goldenrod Bay and the Sevii Islands but never has he seen anything like this! He grabs a handful and holds it close to get a better look at it. He should bring some back for his trainer...!]


[B] Turnbloom Market

[With a tiny coin purse in hand, the Yamask mutters a "oou-sigh" to one of the shop owners and points to a peach. When the owner tells him the price, Chen looks down at his fingers, humming in thought. He should have enough but...

He looks up to the person next to him, waving a hand to get their attention.]

Suu... 'Guuse me...

[It appears he's forgotten how much his coin translates to and needs help counting.]


[C] Rainbow Plaza

[Chenzira's staring up at the Ferris Wheel, mouth agape. It's so big...! He's seen tall buildings before but never a moving one! And there's people inside. Wow! Plus there's so many different games to play. He wishes his trainer was here so he could experience this all with him...

Obviously pokémon by themselves probably aren't allowed to ride the ferris alone. Not that he'd want to anyways. So instead he just floats there awkwardly, hoping maybe someone will come to his aide and take him on the ferris wheel with them - or play some of the other games with him.]


[ooc: Chenzira here is capable of some human speech but it's rather limited. He has trouble with pronouncing hard consonant though. If your character is capable of understanding pokémon though he's perfectly understandable outside of being mumbly.]

[Today, Ash is eager to let his Pokemon have a bit of a break from the usual training and decides to visit Rainbow Plaza for a some fun. It's then he notices Chenzira alone and staring up at the ferris wheel.]

Ooh, a Yamask!

[He then takes notice of the accessories Chenzira's wearing, which gets Ash to look around.]

Hmm, you're not a wild Pokemon, aren't you? Is your trainer around?

[Chenzira perks up upon hearing Ash mention what he is, turning slightly to look at the boy. He takes a moment to think of how to vocalize his answer before shaking his head.]

No... Mair-egh is on Se... Sebii? Mmn... Fh... Four Eye-lan.


[ooc: Forgot to mention, if you want Ash to recognize him from his previous thread with Marik, I'm totally fine with that!]

[Alice looks unsurprised at the talking Yamask; she smiles and adjusted her glasses.]

Oh, ulsai! Was there something you needed? Exchange rates?

[themaskkeeper]

[Oh, thank goodness. She seems to understand! Chenzira nods his head.]

Mn!

[His coin purse is full of pokédollars. He's just... used to his trainer handling all of this. He was given an explanation before coming here but he's forgotten in the moment.]

Pea-gh...

[Why must "CH" be so difficult to pronounce? Chen's brow furrows a little.]

Pee-ee-shhh...! How mudgh?

Oh, that!

[She looks at the weird Pecha Berry, counts out the cost, and points at a few coins in the coin purse.]

Two of these and one of those should be enough, given how retail works over here. The big ones are worth more. Are you running errands, or is this for you?

[The Yamask watches intently, trying to commit the conversion to memory. He plucks the necessary coin from his purse and hands them to the stall owner. Once he's handed the Pecha (his trainer taught him the wrong names apparently) in return, he delicately holds the berry in one hand and puts the coin purse back into his backpack.

The perks of having long arms.

A quick head bow to the owner then he returns his attention to Alice]

[... The point driven home by him taking a dainty bite of the berry.

Being taught proper manners, Chen doesn't speak again until he's swallowed his food.]

[Alice shrugs -- different worlds, different things -- and smiles.]

It's not a problem! I haven't seen you around here before. Are you new?

[themaskkeeper]

Mmn. Yes. Arribe do... this day.

["Today" is still a bit difficult for him to say. Which is why he gives up half way.]

Gen... Chhenzira.

[He points to himself with his free hand.]

Chenzira...

[She thinks it over a moment, looking at his face to see if she's got it right.]

All right! [Her voice goes weird there for a second.] I'm Alice. I travel around, but nowadays I'm stuck here too. Have you heard all the basics yet?

[themaskkeeper]

[She gets a nod at saying his name correctly.

He thinks nothing of the voice change considering who his trainer is.]

Al-is.

[Chenzira blinks, tilting his head slightly.]

No? Whad is basigs?

[That is indeed a Pokemon he hasn't really seen before at the beach. The seviper will slither up to it and give a polite bow.]

I greet you. I go by the name of Kebi. May I ask if you're new here?

[themaskkeeper]

[The Yamask turns to face who the voice belongs to, a bit surprised to see it's a fellow pokémon this time. He bows his head in return.]

I am. My name is Chenzira... Marik told him I should try my hand at... adventuring on my own... so I found myself here...

[Little does he or his trainer know that poor Chen is stuck here now.]

This is Ohritori Island, in the Ultern region. It's a nice place, but it's also a hub of space-time phenomena where people are sent through the stream -- drifted, that is -- and essentially trapped here. The people have been very welcoming and supportive, though, which is a plus. And you're likely to find people who look familiar and have oddly similar life experiences, but that's the nature of alternate timelines at work.

[That's some slightly ambiguous wording here. Did he really come here of his own volition?]

I see. If I may, I'd like to welcome you to the region of Ultern. Many others have been stuck here for a while, myself, included. If you wish, I'm willing to show you around.

[Chen just stares for a good minute or two as that was... a lot to take in. It sounds... similar to what happened with his trainer? So he kind of understands.

He crosses his arms and taps a finger against his cheek.]

Nod... pard of Johdo?

[themaskkeeper]

[He got on a ferry and wound up here. The whole location/world hopping isn't completely foreign to him thankfully.]

Thank you... Um... Stuck...? Like Marik...

[If the earlier explanation he got rings true then he's starting to suspect getting back to his trainer will be extremely difficult, if not almost impossible...

Chen's heart sinks. No, he mustn't panic. He needs to keep it together and find out more before he jumps to any conclusions.

Still, the Yamask wears his heart on his sleeve and Kebi can probably see some tears begin to well up for a moment before he blinks them away.]

Ah... Yes, please. I'd appreciate it.

[Kebi manages to suppress a frown at the sight of the tears. Chenzira doesn't need sadness right now, he needs comfort, so Kebi will nod and smile.]

Not to worry, I've been here for a while. I'll be more than happy to show you around!

[Kebi will then begin to lead.]

As I've said, the region is Ultern. But more specifically, we are on Ohritori Island. There are four routes, two human settlements, and a forest. If I may, we'll be heading to Turnbloom first.

[Chenzira listens intently, floating next to the Seviper]

Turnbloom... That is the city, yes? It's very pretty.

[He adjusts his backpack. A part of him wants to ask if there's a way off the island but... no, just focus on the tour. Marik said to enjoy himself and he wouldn't want Chen to be sad.]

There are multiple islands? How long does it take... to cross all of Ohritori?

I do try to stay away from the city as much as possible. I wouldn't want to be caught by a human... but yes, the sights of the city and this island can really be quite a sight to behold. Especially the Overlook Hill.

It shouldn't take too much more than half a day to circle the entire island by foot. Or slither, in my case.

[She shakes her head.] We're not in Johto, no. The climate's far too warm and humid, especially this time of year. Is that where you came from?

[themaskkeeper]

[He doesn't know what to call the region he's from, having only heard his trainer refer to Johto, Kanto, and Sevii. He nods his head in answer to her question though as it was New Bark Town that he had awoken in.]

Yes... New Barg. Mair-eg in... Sebii now.

[He holds out his arms to emulate something of a large size, managing a small smile.]

He has big... boad as... home!

[themaskkeeper]

It's similar to the Sevii Islands, it sounds like... but more populated.

[He blinks.]

You do not have a trainer then...?

I admit I've never been there. I've been to Ilaan, Hoenn, and briefly Unova before. May I ask how the Sevii Islands are?

I've never had a trainer. Er, real trainer. I am pretending Ash is my trainer to lessen my chances of getting caught, but I much prefer being wild.

It's a small group of islands... They are treated as resorts but they don't have many people on them. I've only been to Four Island... my trainer's friends live on there. It's kind of cold right now though. They even had a bit of snow...

Oh. That is a smart move... I woke up to my trainer. Something... in my head told me... I was his. He is the best friend I've ever had.

[It's been less than a day since he arrived and while he does miss Marik, talking about him to someone feels good.]
