[There's a very imposing figure in a tell-tale red R-emblazoned silvery grey uniform, whistling in an impressed fashion as he took in his work. He might've gotten stranded here without his partner, but it's a good thing his chicken-walker's all in one piece and he even still had Professor Sebastian's crystal...
The crystal was working optimally, given that the force-field it generated attracted Electric types from all around, so he could easily snap them up with the pincer-arm of his mecha, tossing them into cages, while all their Electric type attacks failed to land their mark, as the crystal absorbed their electric shocks, taking that power for itself!]

Hah, it's no use... you can shock it all you want, you're just going to tire yourself out!

The Boss'll really be happy when he sees this! You might not be that one, but you're mysterious, unusual-looking Pokemon all the same! [Strolling leisurely along the shock-proof cages, Buson grinned and slammed a hand on top of one, frightening the terrified Ulternian Pichu contained within, which scurry to huddle together in the corner farthest from the grinning Rocket, all fluffing up even more from the sparks they let off in fear.]

You should be grateful, you're going to serve the biggest, strongest team around...

On second thought, don't shock it too much, we wanna get you to 'em alive.

((Note: Attila (AKA Buson) is one of the two primary antagonists of The Legend of Thunder and they're a more vicious than the usual Rocket trio... put bluntly, he beats up people (young trainers included!) to torture them (the anime cuts away while he's advancing and cracking his knuckles, while his partner just watches from the doorway...), so, er, hit the opt-out & permissions post if you'd rather not interact with this character ever. There'll be no surprise violence either way, I'll ask first, but just in case you want to completely opt-out of dealing with this guy!))

[Because of the crystal, Pikachu's attention is immediately drawn into its power and quickly followed its source. This as a result forces Ash to follow behind.]

Pikachu, wait up! Where are you going!?

[And once the two arrive, Ash is stunned at what he's seeing before him -- A crystal emanating some weird energy, a man piloting a giant mecha with long claws, and what seemed to be... cages?

Okay something's definitely wrong here.]

Wh... What is all this?

Oops, looks like we picked up some extra baggage. A trained Electric type, huh?

I'm feelin' charitable, so kid, how about you call back your Pikachu and run along?

[The truth was that Attila was tired. He'd been fleeing cops, had a weird run-in with... something he wasn't sure was even human, and now this kid? Ash might LOOK like a normal kid, but if this place had taught him anything, it was that he shouldn't be quick to judge.

Attila hadn't expected the crystal to do that, it hadn't seemed to happen before... but it was interesting all the same.]

Huh?

[Just what did that man mean by extra baggage? Before Ash could even ask, he then spots the big red R on Atilla's shirt. Immediately alarm bells start ringing in his head as both he and Pikachu shift to a more defensive stance.]

That symbol... You're Team Rocket!

[Never did the thought of Team Rocket showing up in Ultern cross his mind, but the fact that one of them appeared really adds to the fact that anyone will be drifted into this world.]

Nothing gets past you, does it, kid?

[~~Yet another "Hero Boy," here we go...~~

Attila considered calling out Muk this time, but then recalled the crystal had taken in a LOT of electricity earlier... he moved his chicken walker to block their view of the crystal, while still keeping his distance from it. They wouldn't know what the change in colour when it absorbed enough of the electrical power meant, but the crystal would shift from gathering power to releasing it, much like a delayed attack.]

Seriously, take your little pipsqueak out of here, I got no business with you two.

[The fact that Atilla moved to defend the crystal-like object only further proved to Ash that there's something suspicious about it.]

No way, you're definitely up to something aren't you? Just what is that thing, and what are you planning to do with it!?

[Ash points at the crystal, and is very much not leaving as he is told to do.]

[Attila smirked. Good, he's falling for it, simple and straight-forward kid.]

Can't tell ya.

I mean, I guess I could, but then I'd have to kill ya.

[He could be bluffing or he could be serious, it's hard to tell, but he definitely wanted both to make them target the crystal and to block the changes out of view.]

Tch.

[Well yikes. Not only is he not getting the answers he's wanted, but Ash recognizes a death threat when he hears it. While he wasn't sure if Atilla's just bluffing, it's becoming even more clear that things have escalated much further. And that man seems far more dangerous than the other Rockets he's encountered.

If Team Rocket's not going to talk, then it's time for a new plan: He'll need to get to the crystal and figure out from there.]

Well whatever it is, I'll have to stop you right now! Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!

Piiii-ka-chuuuu!

[In a flash, a bolt of lighting is immediately heading towards the chicken walker.]

[A very fair assessment, Ash. This man's much more brutal and cruel than the other Rockets you've met.

Attila's eyes glinted with excitement, but he did his best to fake surprise as he dashed out of the way in his chicken-walker. Sure, wanting to get out of the way fast was no exaggeration, but it was the crystal he really wanted to avoid, not the lightning bolt, and masking his satisfaction at Ash and Pikachu playing right into his hands was a bit more challenging. Brutal as he was, Attila was also very honest and open by nature.

The lightning bolt was redirected, Pikachu could easily feel the electricity being pulled away from him, so he couldn't control it—it didn't land on its target, but was instead drawn sharply into the crystal itself, which quickly changed from purple to black, from all of the electricity it had absorbed.

The force field seemed to disappear.

Attila, no longer able to hide it, began to laugh, a very unpleasant and mocking laugh.]

You really thought you did somethin', huh?

Might as well tell you now, if you still want to know... or you can just see for yourself.

[Head's up, Pikachu, the crystal will now redirect all of the electrical power it had stored up until now, from all of the Electric type Pokemon that had struggled against being captured, and lastly, your own thunderbolt, right back at you, all at once.]

[Both Ash and Pikachu did not expect the outcome. But it was far too late for them to react, as the attack directly hits Pikachu which as a result launches the poor Mouse Pokemon off from the ground.]

PIKACHU!!

[Ash sprinted as fast as he could, trying to reach out to his partner, and catches him in his arms before he could crash towards the ground and hurt himself in the process. Fortunately Pikachu is still conscious as his ears begin twitching, but he could tell that his Pokemon took a significant amount of damage from that attack. To think that large crystal could do that. Just what was that thing?

Ash grits his teeth, then shoots a glare at Attila.]

[Glancing at the cages, Attila clearly planning to escape, even if he could only carry two of them right now, even with his chicken-walker.]

I'm hunting down Eletric types, although I have my eye on one in particular... I'm not picky about catchin' some extras.

I'll give you one more warning, kid, if that little rat means anything to you, you're get lost. You can't win here.

You can play nice and run or watch him die in your arms. We'll bleed him dry of electricity, you don't want that, right?

Leave while I'm feelin' charitable.

[The fact that the crystal absorbs electricity already clues Ash in that he just needed to rely on his other Pokemon's power. Unfortunately for Ash (and fortunately for Attila) he left most of his Pokemon in Professor Banyan's care as the man wanted to research them. Feeling backed against a corner, Ash doesn't have much of a choice other than to retreat.

His Pikachu on the other hand seems to think otherwise, as his cheeks crackle with electricity and growls at the Rocket member.]

Pikachu, stay.

[And Ash holds Pikachu close, calming him down a little but still wary towards Attila. He can't put his partner into any more danger. Not today.]

Good boy.

[Alright, the tension seemed to ease from Attila's body and he even smiled in a more genuine manner, relieved that Ash was complying.

No need to fight this kid anymore, he hoped. The Pikachu earned an ironic smile and a shake of his head, though.]

Wanna die today, rat? You should listen to your master.

He's got the right idea, you stupid beast. You're no help to anyone, not to him, or the other Pokemon, if you're dead.

[Oh. Oh did that strike a nerve.]

Don't you talk down on my buddy!

[Attila's words didn't deter Ash the slightest, and all he did is making Ash stay put and continuing to glare at him. His Pikachu too couldn't help but feel insulted and the electricity crackling out of his cheeks further intensified.]

[Oh, he shouldn't have said that, right? Attila was never good at controlling his tongue.]

Sorry, kid.

Kinda sad, though, guess you weren't too popular growing up, huh?

[Enjoy feeling the crystal, having returned to its purple state, draw that electricity towards it, Pikachu. Want to feel more power drain from your body?]

[What does that even mean? Ash raises a brow and doesn't seem fazed by what Attila said at all.

However, he starts to pick up on his Pikachu's condition. The heavy breathing, the sparks slowly weakening... And his eyes trail toward the crystal which has shifted colors again.

And then Ash manages to put two and two together.]

Pikachu, no stop! That thing's gonna drain away your electricity!

Pika?

[And Pikachu stops exactly as he's told to. Thanks to Ash, his focus was broken but at least he's safe.]

[It means you were probably a pathetically lonely little brat if your best friend's a mouse, Ash.

These two were seriously getting on Attila's nerves and his eyes were narrowed into a very sharp, pitiless glare.]

Alright. Know what danger you're in now?

Move.

[Very clearly his final warning. He's finished talking.]

Tch...

[Ash takes a few steps back, his eyes are clear with frustration. Feeling as if he failed an important mission. But... his own Pikachu's life takes high priority. And so he holds Pikachu closely in his arms, before turning around and running away.]

Sorry buddy... I can't risk losing you.

Pikapi...

[And both share a quiet agreement in their hearts: ...They need to be stronger than this.]
