((CW reference to (past) temporary human and Pokemon character death. This is extremely backdated to after the mystery dungeon misadventure post with Bashou, since I've felt stuck and unable to post with Buson since then (entirely self-imposed, no one else's fault, I just wanted my posts in order, I wanted to wait 'til that thread was finished, but not going to do that anymore), outside of replying to other posts. It's been a long time, so I don't even fully remember what I wanted to write, so it's a bit boring, but it's relevant because Buson catches a Pokemon and he has some people/Pokemon waiting for him, so... even if my writing stinks here and isn't very engaging, I felt I had to finish it.))
Revival - Mystery Shrine
The first thing Buson notices is he's no longer in the cave. The ground is soft, the air is cool, and there isn't a boulder crushing him. Suspiciously, he glances down, feeling his chest (with his hands! ... he has both arms again) Even the pokeballs clipped to his bandolier aren't crushed anymore (he felt them break and wondered how it felt for his Pokemon...)
He releases Muk and Skarmory, who are also safe and whole, loudly greeting him (Skarmory'a cry and wingbeats and Muk's bellowing voice the only sounds, aside from the chirping of nocturnal Bug types)... only Mawile wasn't caught in that accident (or punishment, really, for his half-serious little plan to collapse tunnels to prifit off exclusive maps, as he's inclined, once more, to think of those always winding paths as something supernatural.) He half-wonders if Bashou took him or if he went wild. He seemed too tame (too human-like, honestly) to go back. This wasn't his land anyway, but it was close enough, climate-wise...
He notices something other than dark earth and dense trees to his side and when he rolls over and sees a small shrine. It gives him the creeps, a little bit, in the faint moonlight, but it's also an oddly comforting little sight. So, maybe he wasn't wholly unforgivable.
He's half-inclined to jokingly ask if bringing him back to Ultern wasn't some kind of mistake, but saying anything felt a little too irreverent, so he kept his silence.
He wanted to go back home. He hadn't expected to ever miss his old life, he had his mind made up about wanting to live out the rest of his days here, but in what he felt were his last moments, he missed where he grew up. He missed the inn he lived with Bashou here too, regretted dying just when he'd finally saved up for a house, too... mostly, he missed his partner and regretted leaving him alone, and dreaded the possibility that he might not return to Bashou's side.
Clackoon - Wildflower Cape
A little later, not far from the shrine, Buson hears crackling. A sound like firewood. It seems a little ominous at first (who else would be having a little campout so close to burial grounds? ... apart from someone waiting), not to mention, he was walking through a patch of flowers, wouldn't the fire spread quickly? The sound followed him and he turned sharply, but only found... a strange and unusual Pokemon. The colours reminded him of a Teddiursa or a Sentret, but the overall shape... it looked like a very fat tanuki.
He cracked a grin. "Never seen a Pokemon like that before! You wanna come along?"
On closer inspection, it carried a bundle of sticks strapped to its back, quite obviously on fire. Its eyes were wide and panicked.
"That don't look too good, you're not a Fire type, are you? You wanna put that down?"
The Pokemon shook its head and wouldn't allow him to remove the firewood strapped to its back or let Buson try to smother the flames with his jacket! It even grabbed a stick and blew the fire at Buson, singing his hair a bit as he dodged.
Were they fighting or just (terribly) attempting to communicate? Who knows, feel free to misinterpret and add fuel (hopefully not literally) to fire.
