EVENT: Winter Wonders

All over Ultern both the Pokemon and People have yet again set out decorations around the island. It seems they're all buzzing with excitement over the winter festivities this time.

In fact the keen eye just might notice there’s many unique designs, and decorations aligned together. It seemed not just the Ulternians but the drifters who live here have pitched in to put up the festive decor. Everyone was sure getting into the holiday spirit it seems.

Now, what's going on around the rest of the island...?

1. Everywhere, Anywhere...
Whatever you're doing, whoever you're with it's hard not to notice the sense of being watched. Whether you're a Pokemon or a regular person, something, or someone is clearly watching. There just might be sounds of shuffling nearby.

What could it be? Is it time to go snooping, or time to lock all the doors and enjoy some hot chocolate with whoever you're with?


2. Glitterace Town, Pokemon Center
Dr. Unoya, a Pokemon Doctor, is looking like his usual pale, tired self. His eyes however, are sharper than normal with his brows furrowed together. Not a word is uttered by the man as he seems to be glaring at the festive winter decorations that surrounded the Pokemon Center.

He was clearly not in the mood for any holidays with how he stood with his arms crossed. At least it seemed he wasn't sending any visitors away.

[Alice walks into a desk, shakes her head, and walks over to the doctor with a tilt of her head. She brings up a notepad to take notes.]

Oh, ulsai! I have to ask, what kind of holiday is this? It looks a little like one I saw observing another timeline -- you see, there was an incident with a Wooper -- but also a little like Helixmas, though that's usually in the spring.

[ulternnpc]

[There's twitch of his eye brow, and a scowl the moment Alice referred to the Holiday. He's observing the trainer before sighing.]

It's whatever Holiday you want it to be with these lot. Everyone came from all over, it won't be surprising if you see a familiar decoration or two.

[domeinion]

Is that right? So it's accommodating everyone no matter where they're from. That's good of you all to do. It doesn't seem like you're having a good time, though. Is there an issue?

[ulternnpc]

An issue?

[There's narrowing of his eyes before a Rookidee that's been hanging near the counter back gave a cheerful chirp. Dr. Unoya lifted his gaze over to the Rookidee before he gave a sigh.]

There is an issue alright. ...there's a group of Delibird this time of the year that goes around spying on people.

[domeinion]

Oh, is that all? [She thinks for a bit.] Sounds like that story about the Delibird that sees if you're a good person so its trainer can give you a gift. We didn't have it at home, but I've seen a lot of places. Do you think that's what they're doing?

3 - take this the wildest of cards

[YOU BETTER WATCH OUT, YOU BETTER NOT CRY, AND YOU BETTER NOT POUT because Ash can be found sitting at a picnic table fiddling with some origami paper and making something out of it. His Pikachu can be found playing with a large Pokemon's tail that's relaxing next to the table.

You may spot several strangely shaped objects, most of them look very crumpled and shoddy-looking. It's still unclear what exactly he's making, but he seems pretty focused on getting it done.]

[Ooh? What's this? Nosy as ever, Red's approaching at first to observe the strange new Pokemon. It takes him a second to register who was at the table next to said Pokemon.

While Red would have loved nothing more than to touch and pet the Pokemon nonstop play with the Pokemon, he couldn't ignore his other curiosity. Walking up in front of Ash, he'll stop and wave.

If that doesn't manage to grab Ash's attention, he does the next best thing by placing a hand a top Ash's head for a light pat.]

[That pat on his head did the trick, as that was enough to break Ash's concentration and turn to see who it is.]

Oh, Red! You surprised me there!

[monologing]

[He's grinning wide while removing his hand from Ash.]

What are you working on, Ash?

[goingallout]

Oh this? It's a Sun Charm!

[He lifts one up for Red to see. Although a little worn and crumpled, the Sun Charm he's holding has some cute Pikachu patterns on it.]

An old lady taught me how to make one. She said these things can protect you from evil spirits, like a good luck charm!

[And when he finishes, he offers the charm to Red and grins at him.]

And it's a good thing you're here too by the way! Because I want you to have this!

[ulternnpc]

[His scowl is returning, seemingly displeased by Alice's response. Or maybe he's just trying hard to keep his eyes open from having spend late nights at the Pokemon Center.]

Whatever they're up to, they're being a nuisance to others. You know their signature move, and the random nature of it don't you?

[monologing]

[Red's peering down, squinting at the Sun Charm. From the intensity of how he stared at it he was rather intrigued. It was obviously his first time seeing one, but something about it made him smile.]

A good luck charm...sounds nice.

[He returned his gaze over to Ash when he held out the newly charm made for him. Red took the offered charm. There's a look of surprise on his face, as he peered down at it.]

...... ......

[In an instant, Red began digging into his bag seemingly searching for something. Despite how stuffed it looked he was somehow not dropping any contents from it.]

[You can find Alice in a few areas around Gilterrace Town. First, the Pokémon Centre, where she's checking out the decorations and carrying a few big shopping bags. Or, around lunch, she's out by the pond enjoying the tropical weather -- she and her team are sitting around eating fried eggs and onigiri and don't seem to mind how weird they look. Either way, she'll wave if she sees you.]

Oh, hello! I think there's a gift-giving custom here -- I've got you something!

[domeinion]

Hmm, that's true. [She taps her chin.] But won't that only become a problem if they get into fights with the people they're spying on?

[goingallout]

[Ash perks up once he finds Alice by the pond, but is surprised when she mentions about having a gift for him.]

For me? Really? [A sheepish laugh.] Wow, thanks!

[Well, it seems fair to Ash that he should surprise her too.]

This is a surprise because I got something for you too!

[goingallout]

[Ash watches Red wordlessly rummage through his bag and wonders what made the other react this way.]

Um, are you looking for something?

[domeinion]

[Shellock and Hyperbug wave at him as well. Flamesplash peers from around -- what is with that Slaking, why does he have a jet pack -- and squeaks. Marc pokes its head out from under Altareon's wing.

As for Alice, she hands over a wrapped package. The wrapping job isn't great, and the contents... who thinks a textbook called Innovation and Adaptation in the Field of TMs and HMs is an interesting read?]

Oh, thanks! That's nice of you. I hope you like this. It sounded fascinating, and you mentioned you didn't know a lot about technology, so I thought this might be helpful!

[Ash takes his gift and could see the edges of the book peeking out as he pulls off the wrapping. The moment he sees the title, Ash already figures it's one of those books with complicated words in it, and resists the urge to make a face as he forces a smile.]

Oh, thanks! That's uh... that's nice! I'll give it a look sometime!

[He's not lying, he's going to try at least.

But now it's his turn to give Alice a gift, and pulls out a small drawstring bag -- small enough to fit in your palm. And if Alice decides to open it, the bag contains an strange ribbon-like figure made from star-patterned origami paper. The ends look very crumpled up, but Ash happily grins at Alice, hoping she would enjoy his gift.]

I made this for you! It's a Sun Charm! They said it wards off bad things if you hold it around.

[domeinion]

[She takes it carefully and examines it as her partners move in to try and see what it is. Even if it looks a little rough, she smiles and thinks of what a wreck the Voices would make if they tried this.

With their trainer's apparent approval, Shellock claps Ash on the shoulder and Hyperbug buzzes happily.]

Thanks! It looks like you worked hard, that's for sure. What kind of bad things, like bad luck?

[While Pikachu is playing with the tail of some Pokemon, Kebi is nearby silently observing Ash make... something. Accessories, perhaps?]

[It's at that moment when he senses he's being watched that Ash pauses on his little art project, and turns to Kebi's direction.]

I bet you're wondering what I'm doing, huh?

[He picks up one of the paper ribbons and shows it to Kebi.]

I'm making some presents for my friends! I figured I'd put what Grandma Yui taught me to good use!

[Oh, that means she likes it! That's good!]

To be honest, I didn't know what to give you when I heard people are exchanging gifts today. But I figured maybe... I'd make these just to show my thanks, y'know.

[Although both him and his Pikachu are startled by her Blastoise's reaction, Ash responds back with a kind smile at Hyperbug and a gentle pat on Shellock's hand.]

Something like that, yeah! It's pretty much a good luck charm anyway.

[domeinion]

That'll be useful! Maybe we won't get so turned around in the caves. Though Shellock does pretty well in there. I think he used to explore places like that before I caught him.

[The Blastoise in question nods with a rumble of approval.]

Did you want some of our lunch? Don't worry, it's store-bought. I don't really cook much.

[ulternnpc]

[His scowl--it keeps deepening. Slouching against his chair that's behind the counter, the doctor crossed his arms.]

That's the problem. They're causing a problem to everyone everywhere, so they should just...

[He's trailing off with his gaze moving away to the small tree that's been placed out onto the side of the counter top.]

They should just return to where they came from.

[Oh, is Ash giving it to him? Kebi... supposes he can store it in his carry bag for later. He'll smile in thanks and offer a flat tail for Ash to put it on.]
