Suddenly in the midst of a Summer Festival--

There's a distinct sound of waves, and bustling of people nearby.

In the coastal city of Turnbloom the sun is bright and warm, and the scent of the sea wafts through with the cool gentle breeze that makes the glittering pinwheels spin, and the leaves on the palm tree dance.

Today the streets are extra decorated with these cute, colorful and floral shaped pinwheels. It seemed the people who were out in the streets were dressed in colorful summer attire--either casual, or the more traditional yukata. It seemed like with the booths were set out for both food and games for festival of some kind that was currently underway.

Just how did you get here, and why? A mystery, and it seemed the people in the streets didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary as they go about enjoying their time out on this bright sunny day.

[Huh, weird. No Dawn or Lucas???

Upon hearing Giratina he rushed closer to the Pokemon.]

Giratina, is that you?! What are you doing all by yourself? Don't tell me you're lost too!

[Ugh.... "Lost"..... Giratina hates to admit it but he totally is, isn't he?! Augh.... How embarrassing... And he's so huge, too, so that he stands out if he doesn't hide. Mother, why? Why have you trapped him here all by himself?!?!?!? (Actually if she'd brought any of his castlemates it would be worse. Nevermind.)

None of that inner monologue is particularly useful. Tina makes the enormous-dragon equivalent of a tired doggy sigh, the edges of his shadow rippling with the noise. You're got it exactly right, Barry.... Have some pity on this poor eldritch being... So wildly out of place on this lovely sunny day.........]

[Wow Giratina was sure making some noises about something! Barry's crossing his arms, nodding almost as if he understood what Giratina meant.]

...yep! I have no idea what you're trying to say.

[Still he'll smile wide at Giratina.]

But you look like you could use some company! I know it's no fun exploring a new place all by yourself! So we should totally look around together!

[Tina makes another ghostly rumble. How nice of Barry to offer... though it doesn't solve the problem of him being fifteen feet tall on a good day. --Actually, wait. Giratina can fix this!

Giratina rising from the shadow puddle is as eerie and gross as you'd expect (thanks generations for making it even worse). But as the antimatter sloughs off, there remains not an eldritch dragon standing there but... just A Guy. (to the best of his ability, anyway.)]

Very well, child.

[Tina holds out one open palm expectantly. Hand, please.]

[WHAT.

Barry stood, astounded by what had just happened before his eyes. Was this? Was this what Lucas or Dawn had to experience on the daily? Was this normal??? Did they just never bat an eye at any of this?!?! It's so...freaky!]

... ....huh! Oh...oh, what? Giratina? Is that...is that really you?

[He's staring once Giratina stood before him in a more human form. This was completely new for him. He's astounded to say the least as he stared at the hand Giratina held out.

What was that hand for- oh! Oh hand holding! He took one step, and then another before grasping a hold of Giratina's hand grinning wide.]

Okay, you and me Giratina! Let's go together! Maybe we'll find Dawn or Lucas around too!

[giratina]

Yes. [ Having assumed Barry would be as unflappable as his little protagonist friend, Tina is just glad he recovered quickly. If he accidentally knocks out too many more human children Arceus will surely end up cross with him....]

You arrived on your own, then? Hmm.

[The hand-holding is probably more prescient than Tina knows, given Barry's penchant for Going Extremely Fast. This can only end well.]

[He huffs before gesturing to his Pokeballs with his free hand. See! He has two Pokemon with him!!!]

Besides if you're here, that has to mean Lucas or Dawn is close by, right?

Once he made sure he had a grip on Giratina's hand, Barry is off! Time to start questioning anyone they come across.]

[Turtwig and Starly, the two bastions standing against oblivion...]

The Beloved child? [Despite being stubborn and staying a wild motherfucker, Tina does know who "Dawn" is. "Lucas" is a bit foggier. Is that the child that keeps hovering around the Beloved's incarnations?..] Well, I do seem to encounter her often [read: twice a millennia] now, I suppose...

[Should Barry tug too hard to go too fast, Tina will simply float after him. EXTREMELY convincing human impression. 10/10 no notes]

Then again it's better than some names everyone else has called either of them by (himself included). Like who even names their kid "A"??? a speedrunner that's who. Barry as he's leading Giratina along makes a mental note to try and keep track of who his childhood friend was this time. (Dawn??? Heck, was it Lucas??? BOTH?)]

I'm sure Dawn's worried sick about you if you're not around in her party! So we gotta- ooh!

[Instead of focusing at the task at hand, there he goes heading straight for one of the food stalls.]

Look at that! Are those donuts? Let's get some-!?

[As he's looking back at Tina he's surprised to see the other floating right after him.]

Whoa, I didn't know you could still do that in this form!

[Tina should probably correct Barry's impression that he's Dawn's Pokémon, but decides it's not dire. Dawn herself will be able to clear things up when(??) they find her, anyway. Magnanimously he decides he'll look after Barry in her stead in the meantime, which means Barry and Giratina are now two dogs holding each others' leashes.

At Barry's exclamation, though.. Barry is younger, and nicer, but something about him reminds Tina of his jester back home. Getting excited at every little thing he can do... well, Tina is not immune to praise. He looks pleased as he settles on the ground again.]

[Barry beaming wide but dropped his smile as the realization hit him: Giratina was currently in disguise. He's crossing his arms while his brows knitted together.]

Wait a sec is that a good idea? Wouldn't people notice you're not human if you do that?

[Or maybe it wasn't that out of place here for someone to casually be floating behind a fast paced 11 year old child?????

[Okay, he'll walk properly this time. Approaching the Donut Shop at a Sedate Pace]

[Barry feels a bad after how happy Giratina was but!!! He was in disguise of a reason! He had to be tough!

Just a little. Okay maybe a donut will help-

Woooow! There's a ton! Look, look they have more than one flavor too! Which one should I get? There's plain, chocolate...is that banana?! Which one do you think I should get, Girati-uuh...

[Oh heck. Oh no, what was he supposed to call him? He had been in such a hurry they made 0 plans. Absolutely none.]

"Tina" is a human name, is it not? I shall answer to it. [it's still mortifyingly simple, but Giratina should probably stay consistent.]

What does a "plain" flavor taste like? [Is it just bread???? Tina knows what a donut is in theory--Banette eats them-- but hasn't yet bothered himself.]

[Yeah, he's heard of that name before. He was pretty sure either Dawn or Lucas had that name once or twice. He's nodding to himself. Plus it was already a part of Giratina's name! It worked! Alright, awesome! Progress(???)!]

Plain flavor is plain flavor!

[Whatever that means! In any case Barry's digging for his wallet and slamming down money for two Sugar Doughnuts.]

Two plain donuts please!

Alright here you go, sonny!

[The smiling old man behind the stall quickly places round donuts into a bag before handing them to Barry. Napkins included! Barry thanking the man turned around as he stuck one hand into the bag and proceeded to hold one of the donut out to Tina.]

Let's find out what it's like together, Tina! Maybe it's like a poffin!

[Giratina accepts the doughnut. (it was nice of Barry to pay, but of course Tina does not even blink at the gesture. What the fuck is money??)

[The doughnut was nice and crispy on the outside, and soft in the inside. It tasted a lot like brown sugar, Barry realized as he munched away. So that's what the plain flavor tasted like?

While munching on his doughnut still he'll turn to Giratina to gauge his reaction. Unfortunately, it was a little hard for Barry to tell what went through the Legendary's mind.]
