Suddenly in the midst of a Summer Festival--

There's a distinct sound of waves, and bustling of people nearby.

In the coastal city of Turnbloom the sun is bright and warm, and the scent of the sea wafts through with the cool gentle breeze that makes the glittering pinwheels spin, and the leaves on the palm tree dance.

Today the streets are extra decorated with these cute, colorful and floral shaped pinwheels. It seemed the people who were out in the streets were dressed in colorful summer attire--either casual, or the more traditional yukata. It seemed like with the booths were set out for both food and games for festival of some kind that was currently underway.

Just how did you get here, and why? A mystery, and it seemed the people in the streets didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary as they go about enjoying their time out on this bright sunny day.

"Huh, really? I haven't heard of any Gym Leaders with two jobs back in Johto," Gold muses. Unless Jasmine was also a lighthouse keeper? No, she probably wasn't.

"Drifted?" Gold asks, blinking. He feels like he's heard the term before in passing, but never before with such weight. "What does that mean?"

"Oh, you're from Johto?" Lucas asked, "I remember watching TV documentary about a lake in that region that has a strange Red-colored Gyarados. It was pretty interesting."

"From what the locals told me, it's what they call someone who's suddenly taken from their world and dropped into this one." He paused, and wondered if Gold was aware of the fact he hopped into another world. "...It does sound crazy, but that's what they told me."

However to Lucas, this was nothing new to him.

no worries!

"A documentary?" Gold blinks. "Somebody made a documentary? Huh, and I saw a red Gyarados like..." he pauses. Is today even the same day as it was when he'd left Johto? Today feels longer than usual, but he's not sure if it's just because of the new place or because travelling to another world did weird stuff to time. "...Yesterday?" he finishes uncertainly.

"Oh, so that's what that means," Gold says, nodding in understanding. Nami's mention of drifting earlier makes more sense now. "I guess it happens a lot around here then. That's good. Then there's gotta be some way to get back too!"

If it works one way, it's got to work the other way too, right?

"Really? You got to see one?" Lucas looked at Gold, his interest piqued. "On TV, the camera crew never got to find it despite everything they've done."

He remembered how much they tried to set up different ways in capturing even a small clip of the Pokemon itself just swimming by like some sort of cryptid. It was pretty fascinating.

"Um, about that." Lucas fidgets his hands, "I really hate to break it to you, but earlier today, I tried to leave Turnbloom through the help of my Pokemon. But..."

He sighed.

"...The moment we flew off and went towards the horizon, something kept us from leaving and we ended up returning to this place instead."

Yeah uh, it's a problem.

"Yeah, I saw one." Gold shrugs blandly. "It was kinda hard to miss, it was big and red." He doesn't quite see why it would be such a big deal that even a TV crew would be looking for it, but he supposes it was pretty cool looking. "Oh, but a guy caught it though, so it's not there anymore."

"What? Seriously?" Gold frowns in annoyance, shoulders slumping. "Uuughhh, that's so unfairrr..." he groans. There goes the last of his hope of being able to go back and help Silver out.

"Someone already caught it?" How lucky! Lucas wished he saw that with his own eyes. Although the road to Johto is a long way from Sinnoh...

Though Gold's reaction was expected, he couldn't help but feel bad about it and his expression softened.

"...I'm sure we'll find a way back." Lucas reassured, "It just might take some time before we figure it out how."

"Yeah," Gold responds tersely, looking away. He doesn't really like the guy that caught the Gyarados, so he can't share Lucas' excitement about it.

"You're right, I bet we'll get home somehow, if there's a whole lot of people who drifted here. One of them's gotta figure something out." Gold sighs, looking up at the slowly darkening sky. "I just dunno what I'm gonna do while waiting for that. Back in Johto I was just travelling and getting badges, but if the Gym Leader here is gonna be gone for a while, I can't even do that." Stupid Gym Leader, leaving his post. And for what? His adoring fans?

A sudden yawn makes its way out of Gold's mouth, surprising him a little. He blinks. "...And we gotta find some place to sleep tonight, too." Were there even Pokemon Centers in this town?
