New Arrivals
Turnbloom City
A pink-haired young man is walking around with an Eevee riding on his shoulder. They admire the wares at the Marketplace, examining clothes, souvenirs, and food. They find the latter especially delightful. If you happen to see them and catch the man's eye, he will greet you with,
"Hello! This is a charming place, isn't it? We like it very much, but would you happen to know the way back to Alola? Or Kalos?"
The Eevee chirps in greeting.

"Hello! Yes, it is quite charming..."
His tone is a bit odd, and the way he rubs his chin thoughtfully probably doesn't help either...
"It's good that you like it here. From what I have gathered, it's quite difficult to leave. Having said that, I don't know where Alola or Kalos are. I have heard of them, but I doubt I could place them on a map. Even if I could, it would seem Ultern - this charming place where you find yourself - is on its own map. Perhaps even...in its own time. Are you following what I'm saying, sir...?"
Maybe he's being a bit too mysterious, but there's just something satisfying about knowing how Ultern works, rather than being the newcomer with all the questions...

The Eevee looks worried.

Volo has never heard that phrase before, but he likes it. A world that can fit into someone's pocket? Are we all in someone's pocket right now?
"That's a delightful term, but I'm not sure what it means. All I know is that people seem to arrive here by accident, in an instant, and leave in the same way. I've heard it said that, if they return to their own worlds, no time has passed. Is that a pocket dimension...?"
Volo pauses to gaze towards the market's exit, thinking of the port, and the sea.
"To be truthful, I haven't tried to leave yet. I suppose you could get on a boat and see what happens...? From what I've heard, though...it's impossible for people like us. People who drifted here. And Pokémon, too."
His last comment is directed towards the Eevee, with a fond smile.

"If many people have been arriving here, it's strange if no one has tried to leave," he muses. "I imagine others have already tried and failed. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't try anyway and hope for a better outcome for us. And at least we're here together, so that is certainly something to be thankful for."
The Eevee agrees.
"And goodness, where are my manners? I am Ilima and this is Eevee," he says grandly.

On that vague note, he breaks off for some welcome introductions.
"It's very nice to meet you both! My name is Volo. I hail from a region that you may know as Sinnoh." He smiles at the pair, noting how comfortable Eevee looks on Ilima's shoulder, despite the confusing situation. "You seem very close. I assume you must be a trainer, sir...?"
For some reason, he still finds himself asking that question, even though nearly everyone here seems to be a trainer. It's still a culture shock, after coming from a time and place where the concept of being a trainer was only just starting to exist.

He smiles again. "Oh yes, we've heard of Sinnoh! We haven't ventured there yet, but we're interested. I am indeed a Trainer! Eevee has been my partner for many years now."
Eevee warbles happily.
no subject
"Unfortunately... there doesn't seem to be any way back to Alola or any of the regions we know. Not by choice, anyway..."
Her smile is a bit aologetic now.

This news, however, is disturbing. "Oh dear. That is a problem. We were heading back to Alola when we ended up here instead," he says. "Does anyone here return to their homes?"
[... it's already April here too, now, Lillie's had two birthdays here!]
"Y-yes, it is a problem..." Lillie awkwardly said, before nodding happily. "It took me a very, very long time, but I finally got to go home! We can't control it, unfortunately, we do get sent back home, to exactly the same point in time and place we left... so, to everyone else, it's as if we were always there and had never left. Mysterious, isn't it? I celebrated my birthday twice last year, with my family and without! This region is called Ultern and it's not connected to any of the regions we know..."
[Wow.]
Eevee chirps happily.
"Do you remember this place when you go back?" Ilima wonders.
[Yup, I guess that'd make Lillie 13 in Ultern... and Buson's 30! ;3; ]
"They all became good memories, in the end," Lillie said, smiling.
Lillie nods. "I remembered it, yes! I remembered thinking it was so strange, to celebrate my twelfth birthday twice... I remembered the people I met, the library I worked at, the language—oh, by the way, in Ulternian, you greet people with 'ulsai!' You'll hear that a lot, a little like our 'alola.'"
[Time flies!]
"That must have been quite strange indeed. But surely nice to remember all the good times from here. And oh, how interesting! I'll remember that. Is there any special gesture to go with it?"
[It certainly does! ;3;]

[I forgot where it was, always assumed in Turnbloom--had to ask MC, but it's indeed in Turnbloom!]
Itshouldn't be very far, but if there's anything Ilima would like to talk about along the way...
[Nice!]
"So is anyone else here from home?" he asks.
[^^]
"The Champion of the Unova region also showed up, she's friends with Ash... ah, there's also some Team Rocket members who show up, causing trouble sometimes... one of them is someone from our world, although he seems rather harmless here... I think he just misses home. I don't think he's from our time... he recognized Ash, but not me. But he says it's a temporary truce until he finds his friends," Lillie laughed a bit awkwardly.
Poor Ilima, the timeline thing is a bit confusing, isn't it?
Re: [^^]
"This is all very interesting," he muses. "Is Ash from our time?"
no subject
Unless, Ilima happens to be from an earlier time compared to Ash and Lillie?

The library wasn't too far, now!
"I didn't want to keep having to rely on others, so I got a job, but you don't have to get one right away. You can take your time getting to know the place, there are hotels and Pokemon Centers to stay at, like in other regions, and if you're ever in need, people will help you... it's very warm and close-knit, a lot like Alola!"
no subject
"Vee!" says Eevee.
"It sounds wonderful here," Ilima says. "I'm sure we'll want to get a job, but we'll look all around first to see what's available and what might suit us best."
[-tests the water-]
"It is... I just wish it were easier to travel between our world and this one, you know?"
Soon, they'll arrive at the library! It's a stately place, with much to offer scholars, even if, unfortunately, there's no access to the outside world and little even about it, there is some similarity between the languages of Hoenn and Ultern, at least!
"You can find information on everything here! ... but nearly nothing about the regions we know, even online... they have Ultern-only websites and things... sometimes, there's movies and books that people drifted in with, though!"
[Yay! Hi!]
The library fascinates him, and Eevee exclaims happily. "Excellent! We'll learn all we can about this world," Ilima says. "What do you recommend as a good book to get started?"
[Hiiii, hope you've been well!! ^^]
As Lillie spoke, she guided Ilima to various sections of the library, Snowy running off to help point out where to find the books!
[Ups and downs, but alright! I hope things have got better for you!]
"Thank you, Eevee!" Ilima looks at the stack of books. "I think now we have an ideal starter course for Ultern. Do the people have any ideas about how or why the drifting happens?"
[I hope you'll have more ups than downs! ;3; I've had a nice vacation and I'm sorting things out]
Lillie thought for a moment, then smiled.
"You'll often see her doing field research, here and there, but her laboratory, at the edge of the Shrouded Woods, is also a good place to look!"
[Aww, thanks! That's great!]
Eevee warbles in agreement.
"What are the Pokemon battles like here?" Ilima wonders next. "Do they have any special power-ups such as Z Crystals or Mega Evolution?"
