Intro post
A. RADIO: Anywhere in Ohritori or Chura
[If you've tuned in to the radio before noon, you may have heard this handsome, soothing voice before, talking about local Pokemon, notifying listeners of Pokemon swarms. Today, too, if you happen to be listening to the favorite radio channel of Chura Islands, you can hear him.]
-You're listening to Chura Radio, and this is Ken, coming to you live with Ken's Pokemon Talk. How's everyone doing today? It's a pretty steamy day, so I bet you're all holed up inside with the AC turned on, or gone out to swim. Make sure you're all drinking water!
Today, we're not just talking about Pokemon, we're talking about your Pokemon. The theme is... [drumroll] ...a destined encounter with a Pokemon! A Pokemon that ended up being your best friend, a meeting that felt like destiny, or a meeting that you couldn't have known would end up that important! Call in now and tell us a story about your fateful Pokemon encounter, whether it's a Pokemon you caught or not!
-And we've got our next caller! Hi there, what's your name?
B. IN PERSON: Port Opportune
[In the afternoon, after the radio show's long over, you can see a young man in Ulternian-style clothes sitting at the pier, fanning himself with a paper fan, looking like he's about melting.]
It's too hoooot.... I want to eat shaved ice... But I don't wanna moooove...
[Then he notices somebody's looking at him, and straightens his back and gives a bright smile.]
Hi there! Hot day, huh?
((ooc: intro post, but IC he's drifted to Ultern and has been living in Chura Islands for a while! This is Ken, the protagonist's brother from the early demo version of Gold/Silver, who became a DJ in a romhack based on that demo! Long story short, he's a locally famous DJ in Ultern now! Call in to his radio show or meet him in person!))

Oh, that was your friend? Bashou, right? He seemed like a cool guy. Tell him hi for me!
[
Ken's obliviousness strikes again!]Thanks! I've had a lot of practice. And I do love hearing people's stories! Making sure I don't chat with the callers too much was the hardest part to learn when I got started back in the day, honestly... [He lets out a laugh, embarrassed at his own memories.]
[He sombers up at the question.]
...Ah, yeah. The second number she used, too. Well, when we block numbers, it's more like... Well, first we block the number for the duration of the show, and afterwards, we look into the number and make sure it's not a public phone. Only after making sure of that, we put the number in the blocked numbers list for good. So... yeah, we do have both of the numbers she used in our system. Why?
no subject
But on the topic of the numbers... Buson's friendly tone seemed to evaporate completely and the following words were delivered more like gruff orders:]
Give 'em to me. They might still be helpful, especially if they're not public phones.
no subject
Uh... Why?
1/2
... he's definitely scaring him, he can see that much. That harshness wasn't meant to be used against him, but for him. Maybe he should try and calm down first. Buson sighed and raised a hand to gesture for Ken to wait and also moved away, withdrawing a bit into himself. He'll stare out at the sea a moment, regaining his composure.
Less harsh, less intense, even if his thoughts took a darker turn, he shouldn't be behaving so intensely with someone other than his target right now...]

I do know Mayday. We aren't exactly close, different worlds an' all, but we've talked a few times.
I got no authority over her, it's true, but maybe I could reason with her. Or put it across like a suggestion. It's not the same as what you were hoping for, but you know... it can't hurt to try. I'll come up with somethin', okay?
You can leave it to me.
no subject
Buson explaining himself eases Ken's mind as well. Oh, he's just going to have a talk with her, ask her nicely to leave the station alone. That's all right then.]
Thanks... I appreciate that. Still, I don't think I can just hand out the phone numbers we store... Even if you two know each other, it's still private information. I'd get in trouble if somebody found out I did that. So, um... Sorry.
[He scratches the back of his head and gives an awkward laugh in apology.]
no subject
It's fine, he had his own ways of tracking people down, although the number could've made this job a bit easier.]
Not askin' you to break any rules on my behalf—oh, nasty.
[He looked back at his shaved ice, now just a sludgy bowl of watered-down syrup.
He picked it up and tentatively tasted it.]
.......

[Ken releases a small sigh. He was a bit worried!
He glances at his own shaved ice, and makes a face.]
Well... It's like juice, right?
[He lifts his watery syrup up, and bravely takes a big swig right out of the bowl.]
.....It's not like juice! [Said with fake cheer.]
no subject
I CAN NOT believe you just did that.
It's nasty! You never drank straight-up syrup before?! It's like a ton'a sugar with nauseatingly concentrated flavour!
[Wait, that showed he pretty much already knew what he was getting into... well, that's why he only took a taste...]
Y'wanna feed them to my Muk? It loves garbage.
no subject
[He's very disappointed in it for not being like juice, staring at his melted ice with offended eyes.]
[Muttering] The neighbor's kid said it was kind of like juice once... I guess he was trying to trick my brother.
[But he brightens up at the mention of Muk!]
I'd love to! Shame we couldn't finish these... Maybe next time we should get cold zenzai instead!
no subject
[Fox-like tastes. Anyway, he called out Muk, who appeared eagerly, opening its mouth wide, having heard the conversation.]
There ya go!
[He tossed his shaved ice into its mouth and it gobbled it up appreciatively, before coming closer to Ken, massive mouth hanging wide open again.]
Toss it in or it'll go for it on its own!
no subject
[Bashou seemed pretty shy to Ken, after all...
Ken laughs happily as he sees Muk enjoying the trash, and throws his shaved ice in as well.]
Here you go, enjoy!
no subject
Muk seems pretty happy, enjoying the sweet taste of this particular rubbish, its contented, smiling face looking almost rosy!]
At least somebody got to enjoy all that shaved ice, huh? [Muk happily agreed!]
I gotta get goin', Ken, so I'll see ya around, alright?
no subject
[What a sweet, happy Muk! Ken's glad to see it. (Though he'll keep a distance, not quite used to the smell.)]
Right, see you next time! And thanks for everything!
[Ken waves. It might not have been the most fun conversation, but he feels a lot better than before!]
