The Not-so-Darkest Day

It's been a few days since the strange skyfish incident, but now? It's Children's Day! Everyone has their Magikarp Streamers hung up high to flap gently against the wind. The adults can be seen happily handing children different colored mochi that's been wrapped up and steamed in banana leaves too. Granted you don't have to be an child to enjoy such tasty treats! More the merrier, as they say.

People all over Ohritori Island will notice a beautiful, sparkling speck of red fluttering gently from the skies. It doesn't hurt to interact with it, in fact it feels a little warm. What a nice little surprise! ...wait, what's this? Now isn't the time to be innocently celebrating Children's Day in a carefree manner?

That's right, any and all Pokemon that's hit with the strange speck of light have suddenly grown in size. In fact, those who are familiar will realize they have all been Dynamaxed!

Uh-oh!!! Talk about more trouble afoot in Ultern!



...also who included that weird looking blue fish on that Magikarp streamer? Maybe it's just an odd looking Gyarados. Yeah, that has to be it.

[You'll find Lear at Gilterrace Town in clear distress, clutching the sides of his head as his Hoopa has grown in size. Not only that but the traditional home he's been staying at has been partially destroyed.

All the while, the owner of said home, Grandma Yui seemed to laugh.]

My! You children sure grow up so fast-

No, Hoopa doesn't can't get this big- WAIT! ASH! ASH IS STILL INSIDE!

[Lear's panic grows as he's making a mad dash to the house.]

(ooc: Ash is most likely not under the destroyed part of the house but feel free to help Lear find this lad lmao)

Whoa! Lear, what's going on? I just saw all this fuss in town!

[She says, patting the side of a very nervous, very large Smoliv that's trying to hide behind a pile of rubble and not succeeding.]

[IS THAT A GIANT SMOLIV?! Lear's visibly reacting as he stared for a second, before shaking his head.]

Help me move the rubble aside! Ash might be in there!!

[He's gesturing to the partially destroyed home. Hoopa will be picking up one piece of the rubble, curiously staring at it. Soon Hoopa giggled and began juggling a few of the pieces.]

Hoopa, now's not the time to be playing around!

[For those looking for Ash, he can be found looking unscathed and somewhere within Turnbloom City albeit a little shocked to see that his best buddy by his side has... grown immensely bigger than before. Ash looks up with slight worry.]

[He can see Pikachu's ears have drooped a bit and he shoots a reassuring grin at him.]

Don't worry buddy! You'll turn back soon enough!

[Lillie's fretful voice came from a good distance away, as she was intitially blocked from view by DYNAMAX SNOWY.]

[Ash has a sneaking suspicion that he knows who's been dynamaxing their Pokemon right now.]

Hmm... could this be related to the incident Teela told us about? I wonder if it's the same Pokemon—ah, if it is a Pokemon...

[Snowy, who had been aggressively grooming her fur, while Lillie pored over books, whined.]

[Snowy didn't like the weird, warm, glittering thing that fluttered in when someone entered the library! But before she could complain about it to Lillie, who noticed some fluttering down in front of her eyes and tried to catch it, Snowy... grew immensely large!]

D-D-D-Dynamax?! [Fortunately, Lillie manages to rush Snowy out of the library before she could cause any property damage (Lillie's prioirities, I know), but she still looked very stunned to see her partner Pokemon awkwardly step around, every flick of her six tails producing a veritable gale!]

[Alice stumbles out of the way and wipes out. She looks up in awe from the ground and adjusts her glasses before she picks herself up.]

Amazing! Isn't that only something you can do in and around Galar? Unless what drifted in here wasn't a person, but even supposing the theory that the current light phenomenon relates to Wishing Stars, where would Galar particles have been introduced into the environment? The possibilities alone! And right when I'm already searching for that mysterious Pokémon from the other day -- of course if that's connected too, the implications are fascinating...

[She looks over Snowy, unbothered and practically sparkling.]

[local girl blabs too much about Mega Evolution while thinking it's still mostly secret]

[She crossed her legs, where she sat on the ground after falling unceremoniously on her rear after Chespie suddenly became too heavy to carry... and then folded her arms, humming thoughtfully.]

Nothing else is different, huh, Chespie?

[Chespie the Chespin looked at his paws, feet, and tried to crane his neck around to see his tail.]

And anyway, we need a Mega Stone and a Key Stone to do that...

You know, all the Mega Evolutions Alain's battled, they'd get like a different colour or a different type or stuff like wings and things! You just got big.

[Well here's a familiar face he's hasn't seen in a while, even more surprising that she'd even show up here in Ultern! So here's Ash with a now normal-sized Pikachu (and wearing his cap) riding on his shoulder as he waves at Mairin.]

[It's then he spots a now dynamaxed Chespie, and he just stares]

Oh man, even Chespie too?

She knows Dynamax from her studies, but doesn't know how to turn it back... Halp! T_T

[So to recap...

Juliana decided to rotate her team so they would be adjusted to their new surroundings. Not only that, she wants to enjoy the Children's Day festivities!

At least, she was until she finds herself with some Dynamaxed Pokemon! She knows about it because she was in Galar during her vacation before her admittance into Uva Academy. Problem is she's not very knowledgeable about it.

And more good news: Her Miraidon, Skeledirge, and Kingambit are unaffected.

It's certainly not that warm and didn't someone (maybe Cilan) mention something about baked goods deflating if you open the oven too early? This definitely wasn't an oven!

[Iris dove down, leaping from branch to branch, Emolga following suit with her own curving, acrobatic gliding.

Besides, if she's wrong, giant apple pie, so there's no downsides to this!]

Not the time to be innocently celebrating, you say? Wrong, Gold is chilling. He's gathered as many mochi as he could get from people handing out treats, then set a blanket down underneath a tree and sat down with his mochi and a bottle of barley tea. You can find him on a hill overlooking Gilterrace Town, watching the chaos of supersized Pokemon going on from a distance.

"Huh, sucks to be those guys," he muses idly, sipping some tea. "You guys probably shouldn't come out today until whatever that is is over," he tells his Pokemon without looking at their Pokeballs.

It's Children's Day, and his day off, and the sun is shining down so gently and warmly, so he's not going to lift a finger to help anyone today. Feel free to join him or wreck the peace!

Sorry Gold for interrupting your peace because Elio is here--with Nebby. A incredibly giant, Kaiju sized Nebby who's carrying Elio like he's his cub, by the collar of his neck. Spotting Gold Nebby will happily trot over, purring loudly.

"Oh...hey Gold! Ulsaaaai-!" Elio has to yell from above while attempting to wave. "I woke up like this with Nebby grown so large, haha!"

[Beware the thundering footsteps of... the world's biggest Smoliv, looking very unsure about all of this. Alice, for her part, waves to Gold, taking notes while following Fate around.]

I've never even seen Dynamax happen in person! Isn't it fascinating, Gold? How do you think it released Galar particles out here? What is it? I have my suspicions, but any answer just adds more questions!

A great shadow looms over Turnbloom City. It's a giant Gyarados, floating a bit above the ground, roaring as if it's going to destroy the city! ...Not that he's going to. He's just playing, making moves as if he's attacking buildings but just harmlessly slapping them with his tail or stopping his attack before hitting anything. Seems like he's having fun!

On the back of the Gyarados sits Red, completely unaffected by any of this, taking photos of his Gyarados, since it's unusual to see him so big. He's snapped some pictures of the streamers around the city, too.

[X was headed to Gilterrace Town for a reason, but well...it seemed his little trip to the store had to wait. His Quaxly, Coiffe was suddenly 10x the size he had been before. It's left X to contemplate the duck, stopping in his tracks.]

[Ash on the other hand can be seen riding on his still gigantamaxed Pikachu's head, and when he spots the giant Quaxly along the way, Ash immediately recognizes him and looks down until he finds X.]
