You heard of April Fools, get ready for-

The reverse of that.

Silly white lies? No, none of that will be coming out of anyone's mouths today. Instead, anyone you meet and talk to you be shocked to realize you're incapable of lying. Staying silent may be an option--or is it? For whatever reason, it's really hard to keep your words in today.

You just might be spouting the first thing that comes out of your mind!

What another, peaceful day in Ultern it is!

...what do you mean that it's not? Well, things have been mostly peaceful for a while anyway. Some chaos is always in order! (Apologies to any Domeists in our midst).

"I'm sorry about Y... I hope you get to see her again soon. And, um, I don't know, I said things I didn't think I'd say either..." she said, looking perplexed, then laughing a little. "Maybe it's just a lot on our minds! We should talk more often, huh? Get this stuff off our chest! Chests? Get this... uh, which way's the right way?"

"....thanks, Rin." X managed a small smile. "You've been nice to me, and so have a lot of others. I miss Y and the others, but that shouldn't be why I stop trying to make friends."

He paused for a second not sure how to continue. He had seen the look Mairin wore while he spoke about Alain, and his own friends. He didn't know if they missed him, or were tearing up Vaniville to find him right now. He just hoped they were okay. No, they would have to be.

They were strong, and their Pokemon were with them.

"In this case, it would be 'chests'." X smiled, being reminded of the many times he corrected Y. "I guess there is a lot to think about, and to talk about isn't there? I haven't told anyone my full name, because I'm afraid of the same thing Y went through happening to me."

Oh. Oh that's not what he wanted to start off with-

"Yeah! There's plenty of people waiting to meet you."

Mairin listened intently to X's explanation, nodding. "Chests... got it."

At X's last statement, Mairin blinked owlishly at him.
"What happened to Y?" she asked, innocecntly.

"It's..." despite his hesitation the words came straight out of X's mouth. "She gave out too much personal information after our hometown got destroyed."

Shocked, X quickly covered his mouth. He clearly didn't mean to divulge that much information to Mairin.

[Mairin’s a little clueless at times, but she’s not unperceptive. She noticed X didn’t seem to want to say that and held his shoulders.]

You… didn’t actually want to say that, did you?

Hey, is this what happened to her? Is something forcing you to say all this…? Can we stop it?

I--no. I didn't want to say something about what Y or any of us had to go through.

[He shook his head, in response to Mairin.]

She was tricked...we didn't know any better. So she spoke to someone from Team Flare, disguised as a nice old lady.

[X looked away while looking around, as if trying to find something.]

It could be a psychic Pokemon causing us to talk like this.

Team Flare...? [Mairin wasn't familiar with the name yet.]

So, they're bad guys? I wonder if they exist back home too...
Maybe they're the bad guys Professor Sycamore didn't wanna tell me about—but this could help me find Alain—

[Mairin started tearing up, frustrated, she wanted to hear more, because she wanted to find Alain, but she didn't want to hear stuff X was forced to say, so she clapped her hands onto her ears (ouch!), as she quickly got up.]

LALALALA, I'm not listening~~~ LALALAA!!

They are. They're dangerous, too. It's because of them that, we...-oh.

[He opened his mouth about to say more, only to pause and smile realizing what Mairin was trying to do.]

Thanks, Rin. I'm okay, so are my friends. It happened in the past for us now. If you think it would help you, I don't mind talking about Team Flare... I just didn't want to bring up what could be painful for my friend, Y. Not that Team Flare only targeted her, since they went after all of us.

... i-it's okay?

[Mairin lowered her hands, finally stopping the childish sing-song-shouting.]

... I'm glad. I mean, it shouldn't have happened in the first place, but—glad it's over, y'know?

[Her uneasy smile faded and she sat down, listening seriously.]

Yeah, the more you know the better. You can use knowledge to your advantage.

[He was serious about that, but when wasn't he? He'll think back on Team Flare.]

They wear red suits, but that's when they want to be known as a Team Flare member. The scary part is.... they could be anyone in Kalos outside of their trademark look. That's how easily they could approach someone, like my friends and I.

Red suits...

Then...

[Mairin tried to think back, but didn't quite recall.]

Not red and black? But, they could be anyone, so...

[She fell quiet.]

Well...Red and black are common, but we went around calling them red suits for a while.

[He's frowning, thinking about Team Flare a little more.]

They followed us around, all over Kalos. Their intentions were to steal this-- [He'll flash his Mega Ring, that he wore clear as day, to Mairin.] this Mega Ring, and the Keystone.

All because of this, my friends and our Pokemon had been hurt...

[Her eyes went wide.]

Mega Ring.. oh, is that what he's gotten mixed up in?! Is that what the Professor wouldn't tell me? Team Flare—

[She teared up, thinking about Alain, and clutched fistfuls of her hair, distressed.]

[The more Mairin spoke of Alain, it was easy for X to piece together who he was exactly. The lab assistant that other-Sycamore had mentioned to him, who X had reminded him of.

First thing was first--]

I don't know what he's going through exactly...but I know that he has people who care about him very much. Like you, Rin.

[He really wasn't good at this, or so he thinks, like his friends were with words.]

No matter what Team Flare has in store, they can't take away your bonds with others, or the feelings they have for you. We were able to stop them so I'm sure...that you and your friends can too, together.

[Mairin took in a breath to try and steady herself, but was still shivering. She nodded in response to X's words. He was right. The Professor told her the same thing... but she couldn't say anything. What could she say?!
In tears, she just turned, slowly, to look tearfully at X, with wide eyes, utterly at a loss... before trying to hug him.]

[X wasn't dense enough to not realize what Mairin was going for, nor was he distant of a person to push someone away. Instead he returns the gesture with an embrace of his own being reminded of his own friends who all had been hurt, or scared by Team Flare for one reason or another.

He'll remain silent, finding words to be unnecessary at the moment as he held Mairin close.]

[Once he held her, she couldn't hold in her tears anymore and sobbed as she clung to him, dampening his clothes with her tears.

Chespie watched sadly, then joined the hug, clinging to her ankles and also X's.]

[No matter how wet his clothes were getting because of her tears, X wasn't about to let go. He was painfully familiar with this type of situation. All the while he was still aware of Chespie, as he glanced down to him with a slight nod of his head to acknowledge him.]

You've got a good friend by your side, Rin.

[He commented before gently patting her back. He figured she might need that extra sense of reassurance.]

[Chespie gave a small smile back, although it was strained.]

U-...uh-huh... [Mairin weakly managed a reply. Of course, she agreed! It was just hard to talk and she was hiccuping a little from crying so much.]

I just feel... s-so weak and s... stupid...

I-I know he'll be safe... the—the Professor said so, he'll find his way back... i-it's just...

[Why wasn't there anything she could do? Why did it hurt so much?!]

[Mairin really did make X think about his own friends, and their journey in Kalos. He thought back to Trevor and the knowledge and fear he held onto, to Shauna who had her dream used against her to be hurt. He knew it wasn't his own fault yet he still blamed himself, somewhere deep down. Yet despite all of that they had changed. They had grown stronger, together.

He waits, listening to Mairin's frustration before he spoke, quietly.]

You can become stronger, both you and Chespie. I can help you train.

[X still remembered his friends own determination to fight back too. He continued on.]

My team and I, we're strong. I took it upon myself to protect my friends because I didn't want to see them hurt. I was scared of them getting hurt because of me, but as a result I got overconfident. I couldn't think to ask them for help. I didn't realize they didn't need protecting. They wanted to fight too.

I can't say I can speak for your friend but maybe he's in a similar situation as me...so you should show him you can fight too.

[Mairin was quiet for the longest time, stunned.]

... y-you... you sound like him...

[Then, she laughs a little, still hiccuping a bit, but she's brushing away tears now.]

I'd love to! Let's get stronger together... it's our goal, right Chespie?

[As she pumped her fists and tried to flew her arms (not much muscle to be seen, really), Chespie climbed happily up onto her shoulder, smiling back at her and agreeing.]

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

[But from the smile on X's face, it was clear he wasn't offended being compared to Alain. After all, he's done the same with others in terms of thinking of his friends. Looking between the two, X gave a nod.]

Training won't be easy but with the two of you together I know you'll become stronger.

[He'll pause before considering another idea.]

Rin, do you have any other Pokemon on your team or just Chespie?

[They're both really fired up to train! At X's words, Mairin said reassuringly:] He's a really good guy, deep down. It's a good thing.

Oh, I also have Bébé! That friend I told you about, he helped me catch her! She's the first Pokemon I ever caught.

[Mairin sent out a Flabébé, atop a yellow flower.]

I see, that's good.

[He's still smiling at that.

When Mairin sent out her second Pokemon, he eyed Bébé. So she had a fairy type and a grass type on her team. With a nod, he'll continue.]

It's always good to have more than one Pokemon with you, especially of different types. [He'll begin to explain to her.] Have you done any battles before?
