Enter: Ultern's Pokemon Professor!

EARLY MORNING - THE BANYAN RESIDENCE
[There's a welcoming scent of coffee wafting through the air. It seems to be coming from the lone home in the middle of the route as the windows are left open. The sun was only starting to rise, painting the surrounding scenery with reds and oranges, as the waves create a gentle splashing sound.

The person within the home seemed to not be big on security, as the front door at the front deck of the home was propped wide open with a rocking chair. Unsurprisingly there's a Pokemon perched on top of it--a yellow skinned Chikorita that could be easily mistaken for a shiny one, if it weren't for the fact its leaf was green. Perhaps it was there to soak up the light from the rising sun.

Not soon after, a man--barefoot, and not quite yet dressed for the day will step out onto the deck with a mug of coffee in hand.]

Ah, another wonderful morning. Don't ya think, Chikorita?

[The professor grinned wide while taking in the seaside view.]

MORNING - OUT IN THE YARD
[You know what's the best thing to do in the mornings? GARDENING!

The Pokemon Professor of this region--Professor Banyan is seen with his signature sunglasses, and straw hat already on along with a pair of gardening gloves. His iconic white lab coat is nowhere to be seen on his person so it wouldn't be a surprise if anyone mistook him as some ordinary gardener.

He's watering the flowers, and other plants in the yard (that wasn't fenced off) before turning his attention to the grass type Pokemon who congregated around him. He has a Sprinklotad in hand as he smiled wide.]

Now don't push! I've got plenty of water for everyone!

AFTERNOON - SEASIDE TRAIL
[Professor Banyan, the Pokemon Professor of this region will be out and about on the beach. He could be find doing the following:

►Sitting on the beach, seemingly relaxing. Who wouldn't want to take a moment to kick back and soak up the sun when the weather is nice and sunny? For whatever reason there's a Staryu that's laying right next to him, no doubt also sunbathing.

►Taking notes of the surrounding Pokemon! He has a notepad in hand, with his gaze set on a pair of Tentacool happily swaying along with the waves, to a nearby Sandygast that sat on the sand where a curious little Pikachu with brown paws, and a light colored belly sniffed at it.

In fact he might even approach any nearby Trainer who had their Pokemon out of their Pokeball with his eyes lighting up with intrigue and interest despite being hidden behind his sunglasses.

►Out training or really, playing with his Pokemon as Professor Banyan, still out on the sandy beach is now seen with a trio of Pokemon - a yellow skinned Chikorita, the brown pawed, light colored belly Pikachu, and Staryu. There’s a confident smirk on his face.]

Alright, are you three ready?

[He’s holding what’s clearly a sparkly ball in his hand.]

The one to get this the fastest wins! Here goes!

[He’ll be seen winding up his left arm before throwing the ball as far as he could across the beach. In an instant Pikachu and Chikorita dashed through the sand leaving Banyan alone with Staryu. Noticing this, he chuckled before kneeling next to Staryu to place a hand upon it.]

They’re getting faster, aren’t they?

[While Chikorita stopped surprised by a new challenger entering the race, Pikachu's eyes narrow as he uses Agility to raise his speed to dash across the sand. He wasn't going to lose this race!!!

Meanwhile the Banyan lifted the brim of his straw hat with a gaze that showed he was equally surprised as his Chikorita.]

Whoa, y'see that Staryu? That Parasol gal's pretty fast!

[Very! ...But not so fast that the challengers are completely out of the running! Perhaps because Espurr can't really take a straight shot through the sand without ruining any unseen pokemon habitats down below, but she's doing a lot of zigging and zagging on the way there-

Even so, what's a good race without some teasing?] Better hurry..~! I'm almost there..~!

[GASP...]

[Not on his watch!!! Giving into his competitive side, Pikachu's absolutely determined to win this race and gives himself an extra speed boost by using Agility once more and catching up to Espurr. He could see the goal twinkling just up ahead!

As for Chikorita on the other hand, he seems very distracted to even join in the race and ends up cheering for the two.]

Chiko! Chiko!

[Banyan just chuckles, amused at the sight. Hey, at least everyone's having fun here.]

Hm-hm-hmmm~~! I'm almost thereeeee..~

[Espurr hold back? Never-! (Totally!)

...Butt it does look like Pikachu might just get that twinkling goal! At the very least, it's not like Espurr can use Agility! You've got this Pikachu!! OHHHHH!!]

Piiikaaa!

[The electric mouse Pokemon makes a mad dash, and dive fueled by his determination to get the glittery ball. He's practically rolling now in the sand the moment he catches the ball into his mouth. Once managing to land back onto his feet, despite being covered in sand Pikachu turned to Espurr and gave a loud sniff with his nose obviously very!!! Proud of his accomplishment.

Chikorita meanwhile waved his leaf letting out a cheer. He's happy for his friend but Espurr too for being so fast!]

Chikooo!

Wh-hoo!~

[Espurr for her part, will do a small pirouette, before clapping for the winner.] Congratulations~! But, I think you need to go bring that back now you know!

[Pikachu still proud of his accomplishments will huff and make his way over to the Professor with the sparkly ball in his mouth. Banyan chuckling reached down to give Pikachu a pat on his head.]

Great game Pikachu. You sure played well with both our guest and Chikorita.

Chikoriii!

[Chikorita happily hopped on the soft sand at being mentioned. He'll look up to Espurr with a smile on his face.]

It's quite a pretty thing, isn't it? What is that ball?

Oh, this?

[Banyan reached down to take the offered ball from Pikachu. There's a small laugh.]

It's just an old toy I used to play with when I was much, much younger. Now they really like playing with it since no one else uses it anymore. Don't ya?

[He'll commented while ruffling Pikachu atop his head, earning a laugh from Pikachu.]

I see!

[How cute!] They definitely do~ If I didn't have to avoid so much under my feet, I think it still would have gone to Mister Pikachu here!

[She has no idea how old Pikachu is, but it's important to be polite!]

It was a fun race though!

Hehe, who knows? Maybe it would've been a close race in that case.

[Banyan grinned while holding the ball out again to Pikachu. Pikachu perked up before turning to Espurr with a curious look. Oh she was talking to him...!]

Did ya hear that Pikachu? She had fun. Did ya have fun too?

Piiika!

[Pikachu preened while wagging his tail in excitement.]

I suppose we'll never know~!

[Hmm hmm hmmm...~]

Well I'm glad that you had fun as well then! [So she says, careful to address the pokemon when she speaks of and to them.] I came to the beach to practice, but a run is just what I needed!

I hear ya. Having a good workout does put ya in a good mood.

[He says this as he starts stretching and moving one arm around.]

Ah, I'm Banyan by the way. I'm a Pokemon Professor around these parts. You don't look like a Trainer to me, do you?

Not at all! It's good to meet you though, Professor Banyan!

[Giving a slight curtsey of sorts, she introduces herself.] My name is Espurr- It seems a little strange to try this...'trainer thing', I'll admit. You might just guess why!~

[So polite! He couldn't help but give a bow in return, while pulling his hat off just for a moment.]

Hm? Your name's Espurr?

[That gives Banyan a momentary pause to easily to put pieces together. From her general appearance (it's hard not to notice her hair, for one) and how she addressed Pikachu (which wasn't odd for him as he spoke to Pokemon all the time...). Nevertheless he smiled to Espurr.]

Well I'll be! It's not everyday I meet Espurr out on a stroll on the beach. It's very nice to meet ya.

Correct~

[With a pause, she helpfully adds-] ...I've found the way humans name each other is much better for telling everyone apart, I'll note. [How novel!]

Hmhmhm~ It's a pleasure to meet you too! We didn't have beaches like this where I lived before, but it's very nice to experience it! Very nice and warm too~

Fascinating, so y'don't give each other nicknames?

[He's adjusting his shades clearly all ears about what Espurr had to say. His thoughts had to be far too human if a part of him had liked to think even without any evidence that the Pokemon may have had affectionate names for one another.]

If ya don't mind, can ya tell me what kinda place did you hail from Espurr?

Chikoriii! [Chikorita hopped up as he seemed to be in agreement with Beni. Pikachu on the other hand moved to quickly climb up onto Beni's shoulders. After lightly bumping his head against Beni, he's turning to give Espurr another curious look.]

Haha, seems they're just as curious about ya too!

Not typically no! Actually I heard a tale from another town where a resident teddiursa evolved quite unexpectedly- so for some time, no one could tell the now two resident ursaring apart at all!

[With a giggle, she happily answers the professor's question.] It was a very temperate place really- not as warm as here, but not very cold either. Fellow pokemon lived close together, either in small villages, or in larger, more populated cities. Living outside of these places could be very risky you see- you'd risk being caught up in a Mystery Dungeon!

Oho, I see! That's some fascinating stuff. That happens between us humans too--sometimes people can have the same names, so there'd be confusion when they're nearby and their name gets called out.

[He lets out a laugh, before nodding in earnest as Espurr described her home.]

Hm, so Pokemon do live in a community of some sort where yer from. That's interesting... I don't think I've heard of Mystery Dungeons before but that's only because it ain't a common thing around here in Ultern. So what exactly do ya mean by getting caught up in a Mystery Dungeon? Do they just show up outta nowhere?

So it's a universal problem then after all~ [Wonders never cease!]

Very much that, yes! They're sort of in a state of energetic flux- the area suddenly becomes mazelike, with trees moving around every hour or so, entire 'floors' of area existing where they realistically shouldn't. You can't really make one stop existing either- though luckily, wandering around too long tends to have the area throw you back out on its own.

[He nodded. It was indeed interesting to think about!]

Hmm, that almost sounds like...that new area drifts into existence! That's amazing that you're sent back on your own, but that may be for the best from the sound of it.

Perhaps? Only, it isn't as if the location disappears after all. It just changes. It would be like if the roads of the island here were constantly moving in different directions. The start and end of the island would still be there, you just wouldn't be able to get there the same way.

It's definitely better than the alternative though, that mysterious ejection!
