[... Listen, AZ is used to drifting places, but this? This is a new one. At least all of his pokemon are with him - including Floette. He lets her out of her ball immediately as soon as he wakes up.]

[His coat is... heavy, but he doesn't change his clothes. He doesn't fit in any of the clothes that he might buy here anyway.]

Turnbloom City

[A shadow might fall over you or your pokemon. Large, imposing... fluffy? Well, that definitely is long white hair poking out from his hat, and the giant man seems to be curious about what's around him. He looks down and takes a step back from whomever he was going to bump into, looking around.]

S... sorry...

[He tugs his hat down a little more to hide his eyes, nervously trying to figure out a route to escape to.]

Route 1

[There's someone by the lighthouse... you might be forgiven for mistaking him for a pokemon, but no - it's just a very large man. He does seem to have an unusual set of pokemon around him - a Torkoal, a Golurk, a Sigilyph, and a... small pokemon that's hard to see until you get close, but it's a strangely-colored Floette.]

[They're sitting at the edge of the cape and he's dangling his legs off the side of the cliffs. His hat is off, so his fluffy hair is on full display.]

[It takes him a moment, but... oh. Hm. That makes some sort of sense, even if the why is beyond them at the moment.]

Some sort of temporal flux point. Maybe... some sort of Pokemon is powering it. I can't think of any man-made thing that would do this that isn't powered by a Pokemon.

[It's been a long time, but he was a scientific genius once upon a time.]

It's a high possibility, either that it's a machine a Pokémon powers or that a Pokémon is doing this of its own will. I haven't seen any signs of that, but this place does have its own legends. There's likely more on the other islands, but I haven't studied this one exhaustively enough yet! Are you familiar with this kind of thing?

I'm familiar enough with the localized bending of time. How the various energies of life and death can be bent to prevent or encourage cellular aging and growth. I'm also familiar with a phenomena that allows passage between realities and the occasional loss of memory along with it, though if it's happening on a large scale people would likely have seen the rifts.

Oh! [Alice brightens and claps her hands together.] Good, then we've got the same foundation! I haven't seen any signs of that kind of tampering from the fossil gods, or, I guess, similar Pokémon from other worlds, considering nobody seems to recognize them here in the forms I'm used to. I haven't seen any sign of memory loss, or for that matter body loss, temporary or otherwise, which would seem to indicate the stability of this timeline, and the state of the local Pokémon population seems to reinforce that. Though I haven't heard of anybody seeing the rifts that pulled them through the stream, in this case. Can you elaborate on that?

I'm not familiar with the 'fossil gods', but at least things do seem stable despite the people here coming into this area by unusual means.

The rifts I'm familiar with... they look like whirlpools that have tails that get thinner as they move backwards from the 'mouth'. The energy from it can be used - I know of one company that has been using it. There are various places they can lead to, but all are different dimensions. There are 'ultra beasts' that can come out from them as well... they're not Pokemon but they're something... different.

[He wasn't in Alola when things got worse, but he's at least aware of their existence.]

Ultra Beasts... I've never seen them myself, but I've heard of them. If it's a phenomenon like that, then it's a distinct possibility, given what you mentioned about human scientists harnessing their abilities. No one here seems all that suspicious, but if it isn't human intervention, it might be a powerful Pokémon -- or more -- who lives here. I wouldn't put it past anything less than the Streamer, but then, these are extremely strange times.

Streamer?

[... Sure. Whatever.]

It's a very strange situation, yes. We need more evidence. There's not quite enough to form a solid theory at this point. But I can be patient.

[He was patient for thousands of years, after all.]

The Streamer -- it's an epithet for Arceus where I come from, but I've found it less common here, so that's all right. A lot of the things I'm used to are new to others. That's just the nature of cross-universal contact!

[The weird-looking Masquerain buzzes, and Alice nods.]

Yes, and other variables. Unfortunately, I haven't put together any more evidence as of yet, but I'm always studying what I can. Are you a researcher, too?

I see. And yes, it is.

[Hm. How to answer that?]

... I was, when I was younger. Less so now. But I'm always gathering new information in my travels just by being around, it seems.

That's definitely true. Especially in a strange area like this. It's nice to meet you and your friends here. At least I can assure you that it isn't dangerous, as far as I've observed. Aside from getting chased by territorial Dunsparce once in a while.

That's good. I'm originally from Kalos, but I've traveled all over the world. I'm thankfully with companions strong enough to defend us if needed, but I won't claim that I'm a particularly strong trainer myself.

[Floette baps him lightly with her hand. He's a great trainer! He sighs and pats her head with a finger.]

I prefer not to use force if I don't have to, however.

That should be fine. It does make me wonder just what pulls people here if it isn't some immediate danger, but the answer has to be out there. It always is.

It is. As long as you make sure you keep your science within... reasonably sane parameters. I've seen it go awry on several occasions.

[Alice frowns and looks away. Hyperbug makes a sympathetic buzz.]

[She pets the weird abomination Masquerain.]

[He glances over at her Pokemon and considers it, nodding.]

That's good. I'd like to hope that most people have that much sense... but it's unfortunately not always the case.

Unfortunately, and for a lot of reasons. Though even the good ones can go wrong fast.

... Yes. Good intentions can do great things... but once those emotions turn, they can wreak the greatest kinds of destruction.

[Floette floats between them and squeaks. Hey, hey. Enough of this.]

Yes. ... You're right, Floette. I... should calm down.

[Hyperbug buzzes similarly, and Alice bites her lip and nods.]

Oh, I'm sorry. You're right, this is entirely too heavy for an introduction. Especially since I haven't seen any real trouble here. You'll find the people around here have mostly been helpful and friendly, so there's a lot less to worry about than one would assume from appearing at random.

No, it's all right. And that's good. People are... hard for me to deal with sometimes. The noise of a city gets to me...

[He shrugs and looks at the rest of his team.]

But they help me a lot.

That's good. You do seem to get along with them well. My team works hard, too. We're all a little strange, so we've been figuring things out as we go.
