[Intro] A Big Arrival
[... Listen, AZ is used to drifting places, but this? This is a new one. At least all of his pokemon are with him - including Floette. He lets her out of her ball immediately as soon as he wakes up.]
[His coat is... heavy, but he doesn't change his clothes. He doesn't fit in any of the clothes that he might buy here anyway.]
Turnbloom City
[A shadow might fall over you or your pokemon. Large, imposing... fluffy? Well, that definitely is long white hair poking out from his hat, and the giant man seems to be curious about what's around him. He looks down and takes a step back from whomever he was going to bump into, looking around.]
S... sorry...
[He tugs his hat down a little more to hide his eyes, nervously trying to figure out a route to escape to.]
Route 1
[There's someone by the lighthouse... you might be forgiven for mistaking him for a pokemon, but no - it's just a very large man. He does seem to have an unusual set of pokemon around him - a Torkoal, a Golurk, a Sigilyph, and a... small pokemon that's hard to see until you get close, but it's a strangely-colored Floette.]
[They're sitting at the edge of the cape and he's dangling his legs off the side of the cliffs. His hat is off, so his fluffy hair is on full display.]

Red shakes his head in response to the question.
"Red," he says. ...It might not be the best way to introduce himself, but Red feels like AZ is a kindred soul so he thinks he'll understand what Red means.
no subject
"AZ. Good to meet you." He's glad that everyone seems to be at least nice, even if he's gotten some stares.
His Floette floats down to look at Red carefully. Hm... "Flo-ette!" Yes, he seems fine.
no subject
Red nods to AZ's self-introduction, but is then distracted by noticing Floette. What kind of a Pokemon is that? A grass-type... or not? The colors seem like a dark-type, but is that it? The most miniscule of frowns appears on Red's face as he looks over Floette, trying to figure this out.
...Or he could just use his Pokedex, he realizes, and digs his Pokedex out. Conicidentally, it happens to be a model of Pokedex used most commonly in Kalos, one Red got about a year ago after his old Kanto Pokedex got too old to keep upgrading. He scans Floette and reads the Pokedex entry. Fairy-type, huh...
Unfortunately, Red's too caught up with Floette to realize ignoring AZ like this is pretty rude.
no subject
"She's... different. A variety... that's all but extinct."
no subject
"...The flower?" Red asks.
Though he's not as interested in researching Pokemon as his friend Green, things like this do pique his interest. A Pokemon he's never seen before, and a near-extinct variant, at that... Not to mention it's cute, too. He feels like he should be making notes.
no subject
He frowns, as does Floette, but she sighs and twirls her flower.
"But I had her since a long time ago. She's... very important to me."
no subject
...It feels like it'd be rude to ask for a photo now, but Red's sure his best friend would be excited to see this Floette. He hesitates, holding his phone, looking at AZ like he's hoping he'd read Red's mind and understand what he's thinking. ...It'd be so much easier to talk to people if that worked.
no subject
He looks at the camera and tilts his head slightly. He points to himself and shakes his head. He looks to Floette who appears to think for a moment and then nods. She's okay with it.
"If she says it's okay..." He's aware some people would want to study her, but... she's a grown Pokemon. She can make her own decisions over who she wants to have a picture of her or not.
no subject
"Thanks," he says, then turns the phone to show AZ and Floette, in case they want to see the pictures. They're not expert photos or anything, just... ordinary. AZ isn't visible in any of them, not even parts of his clothes.
no subject
He looks over at the pictures and nods. That looks fine. He offers a small smile. "Those are good pictures..." He's very talented!
no subject
"thanx!!! >///< idk if theyre anything special tho....
is it ok if i show these 2 my bestie?? he rly rly rly loves pokemon!!! hes not here tho :((("
His expression remains as flat as ever as he holds up the phone, suddenly wondering if AZ will be able to understand what he wrote.
no subject
"I... it's all right. As long as he doesn't spread it around... ?" He looks at Floette, who nods. "If she's all right with it, then I'm all right with it."
no subject
"thank you!!! i'll tell him to keep it to himself! sorry if that was hard to read by the way >.< its just easier to type like that!!
btw i guess you probly don't have a phone right? but if you do then i can send you the photos!!"
no subject
"Hah. No, it's no problem. I'm not much for texting or anything like that, so slang is a bit of a mystery to me at times. And... I don't have one, no. I... ah. Don't have anyone to call."
Which is a bit awkward to admit, but... it's true.
no subject
"phones aren't just for calling anymore!! if they were i wouldn't need one since i'm bad at talking!! they got cameras maps music pokedex and evrything on internet! and u can find people to talk to on the internet! idk maybe thats not always good but anyway you get waht i'm saying right?"
Red pauses to look at what he's written, wondering if what he's trying to say actually comes across or not, but shows it to AZ anyway.
no subject
"I do get what you're saying, however. You're not wrong. And if I'm to stay in touch with anyone here it might be useful."
no subject
While Red's showing this to AZ, he stares at the man, wondering if it might be rude to ask the question he's been wondering about since meeting him. Eventually, he decides to just go for it, typing a short question into his phone and showing it.
"how are u so tall?????"
no subject
Kids these days with their electronics...The stare gets a slight stare back, and - yes, he finally got that question."I drank my milk." He holds his face serious for a moment before huffing in amusement. "Just a joke. Though I did do that. ... It's... hm." How much should he tell? "I had an encounter with a legendary Pokemon and the after effects included my continued growth."
no subject
"hm ok... sorry if it was a rude question! i mean being this tall i already get stared at so i thought it'd suck being that tall! but if it was a legendary then i guess i don't need to worry abut growing that tall by accident... no offense!!! >_>;"
He pauses, then takes his phone back to type a second message.
"but just 4 the record, which legendary was it??? i wanna avoid it..."
no subject
The follow-up question makes him wince. He expected it, but...
"Yveltal. It... it's a complicated story." And a painful one, and it's not really one he wants to recite in public. "I'm... sorry." He tugs his hat down towards his eyes again, shoulders tensing.
no subject
"thanks for telling me. you don't need to say anything more!! it's ok!!"
Even if AZ is averting his eyes, Red shows him what he's written and holds the phone out for as long as AZ needs until he's ready to look at him again. He doesn't mind. Everyone has painful memories, and Red knows to be patient about them. He knows some kids with especially painful ones, after all.

"... You're a very kind young man. I bet you have a strong bond with your Pokemon..."
It's always the kindest souls that do, in his experience. And cruel people are cruel to everyone.
no subject
"My Pokemon... are family," he says. It feels like a statement he should speak out loud, after all.
