Spring is around the corner-
[Over at the Banyan Research Lab it's not hard to notice Professor Banyan right outside. His lab coat is left by front porch with his Ulternian Pikachu having taken over it during its nap time, as he's tending to his front yard. He can be heard humming a song while working away.
For anyone passing by he'll be more than happy to have a chat.
Otherwise aside from gardening, the Professor will be seen nearby the shores intensely studying nearby Pokemon on the beach. He's got a notepad in hand to occasionally jot down his observations.]

(🌺Come have a chat with the local Professor! Also for those who are interested he's more than happy to hand out one of the Ulternian Starter Pokemon as well!🌺)

Oh, I see! So the difference is mostly in the head and wings. I wonder what prompted it to adapt the way it did?

That's true, I'm sure Camila and the others from Hoenn would feel right at home here. It could be what they eat, or the wing placement might be born from a way to deter or avoid predators. That's why Pokémon biology is so interesting! There are so many factors at play even in normal circumstances. Is that why you became a professor?

Haha, that's fer sure! I suppose it could also be how they even attract their own prey. It does make me think about bug wings.
[He mused out loud. At Alice's question he nodded.]
Plus, I've been wanting to closely study pokemon that drifted, and how they adapt within their new environment. Of course it's mostly 'cause I wanna meet new Pokemon, wahaha!

I see! The drifting phenomenon seems to have been happening here for some time, so it naturally flows that you'd want to study its relation to your own field. Do they usually come in bursts, like with these guys and the Smoliv?

Hm, as far as I can tell not usually. So arriving in droves like that has been new. It makes me wonder if there was some change within the drift...

[He nods in response.]
Hm, that's a possibility a strong Pokemon is involved but...we don't got enough hints if that really is the case. It's a good theory to work with, since there is the case of Legendaries like Dialga or Palkia from a Faraway Place that I've heard from drifters. Yet it's still puzzling why Ultern? What make us so different from all the other lands to experience such a thing?

[He'll scratch his head.]
But I do have to agree, the answer has to be out there. It's probably in front of our nose--we just haven't noticed it yet. Either way, studying to learn more is always fun! It helps expand our world.
