in a thousand voices, you can find your own
[Alice isn't even a follower of Sail. By all rights, she probably shouldn't be the one running this. But, well, sometimes you do miss home, and it's not like it's Helixmas or anything. So, once she calculated the date, she figured she might as well do something.
In Turnbloom City throughout the middle of February, you can find Alice near the Gateway Port... running a booth? She's apparently built one out of scrap wood, and while it looks rather slapdash, it reads, FEAST OF THE SAIL -- FORTUNES. She's also cobbled together an odd machine sitting on the booth with two buttons: Regular and Romance.
If you approach, she'll wave you over.]
Happy Feast of the Sail! Back home, it would generally be a priest of Sail running these, but I seem to be all we've got. Go ahead, print out your fortune! I've calibrated the machine to a wide variety of semi-random outputs, so you can select either your normal fortune or -- well, the love fortunes were popular back home, I suppose it's only natural since Sail's domains include shipping as well as the future, but I can't guarantee their accuracy.

Oh my, it certainly sounds like you've brought a rather wonderful tradition with you. Certainly nothing like the overpriced chocolates and such I've seen around Kalos--I think I'll give it a try, then.
[And to hell with it, he'll get both! Maybe he'll try to sneak the love fortune into someone else's bag once he's done, who knows--]
Will you tell me more about this feast? Now I have to wonder if it wasn't right of me to bring a gift or an offering, I must confess.

[The machine prints out two fortunes at his request! One reads, You are popular and have a distinctive flair for fashion and style, while the other says, The one you like will fall for you naturally if you teach them your skills. I swear I RNGed these.]
The Feast of the Sail is a holiday from my world. The romance thing is only a small aspect of it -- the more important aspects that it celebrates are progress and the future! Often at these festivals, people will have their fortunes told electronically, because technology's all about progress, so I thought it'd be an easy thing to program myself. People also hold trade fairs around this time, rather than offering anything to Sail itself, because trading is one of its domains, too.

[Calem can't help but chuckle when he reads both of the fortunes--cheeky, very cheeky of these things indeed. He'll at least keep the general fortune for himself, but perhaps he'll find a fellow craftsman down on their luck to stick near...
But Calem definitely seems intrigued, as Alice talks about that, and nods his head along with the explanation.]
I see, I see. So perhaps it would be more accurate to say that Sail's realm lies in connection, then? The future, connection, and all that comes with it...how fascinating. Connection, and progress, made even across regions.
But I believe I gather what you're talking about. [No attempt at the feigned teenager talk here--this shit's legit fascinating.] Are there any other aspects of this holiday in particular that are interesting? I must admit, you've piqued my curiosity.

It is interesting to see, even if it isn't my usual field of study. Most of the similar holidays other people menitoned emphasize the romance aspect, but that's only a minor domain of Sail, and the holiday where I'm from is more focused on -- like you said -- connection, progress, the future, and trade. Some people say that must mean Sail is the god of wireless connection or internet, which sounds silly, but with everything it's associated with, it makes a surprising amount of sense! And that's the same thought behind the fortune machines. In older times before the fall and revival of the gods, people may have told fortunes manually using a variety of ancient techniques, but building a machine to do it is actually more in line with the spirit of progress towards the future. So it makes sense, put that way!
I do have to say my favourite holiday isn't for another few months, though. Dome-tide usually falls in April, in just over a week from the anniversary of the choice in the remade world to that of Dome's awakening. Maybe it's a little selfish to celebrate something like that the most, given I was there? But even if it's not a popular holiday in most aspects, it's a great excuse to hold tournaments. Not just battling, either! Any kind of organized sport will work. And I do like the spherical cakes, even if I can never bake them right myself.

[Red seeing Alice's familiar face immediately approached her. Studying the machine that was at the booth his eyes lit up which he glanced over to Alice, back to the machine, and then to Alice while taking in her explanation.
So he can just push this?! Okay, here goes!
With much energy of a hat wearing protagonist (which is a lot!!!) Red will eagerly press the button for a normal fortune.]
no subject
Oh, did you get a good one? I think I programmed a good variety in there, but I wasn't sure how many people would show interest since they don't appear to have this holiday here.

Nodding over to Alice as she explained he looked over to the machine again.]
....s' the first time I heard of it.
[As thanks Red will dig into his bag and hand [1] Soda Pop over to Alice. It's all he's got on him at the moment.]

Although before he went to press the button he looked back to Alice once again.]
Can I try another one?

["For fun" was enough of a reason for Red to press the button for romance with much gusto!!! Not that he was there to believe in the results--but maybe he could share his fortunes to Alice so they could get a laugh or two out of it.]

I think that one got in there a lot. You never know with random generators!

...still fun to see. Don't normally do fortunes back home.

Back home...... it was Valentine's Day. Mom'd make chocolate for Blue and me.

[Of course he grinned at Alice's comment about Blue. There's a nod of his head in understanding. Blue would definitely find some reason to brag about that! Not that Red minded--it just wasn't Blue otherwise.]
Mmm, it'll be our secret.

[He's smiling at that, but when Alice mentioned about their positions (as a Pokemon Trainer, he assumes) were taken by others on top of differences in the worlds he gave a sheepish look.]
....you're real smart. ...'d take me a while to remember.

Well, he had to get strong wanting to catch up with Blue that's for sure.]
...meeting Pokemon and battling, that's what I'm into.

thought the Kantonian Champbut thinking about how many opponents he faced, and the fact he's beaten Blue before has him nod.]I like a challenge--and so do my Pokemon. What about you?

...wanna battle all of them!
[And he meant every last trainer who makes eye contact with him, really. That's just how Pokemon Trainers were, right? (He'll be in a shock to learn that no, it doesn't work like that here.)]

[Red nodded. He was excited at the thought of battling other trainers. Now... adjusting his bag strap, and cap he smiled up to Alice.]
I should get going. ...thanks, Alice!

[She waves and starts looking over the fortune machines as he leaves.]

Happy... Sail Feas'd.
[He's never heard of this holiday before but if a friend celebrates it, he should learn about it!]

How is it? Of course, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's just a fun diversion.

You... arready... know the... an... swear? An... ansurr... do the guess-din... you been... war-ryin' aboud...?
[Chen's deep in thought as he mumbles the fortune to himself a couple more times.
Alice can tell he's concentrating by the determined look on his face.]
Mn... Is...
[The Yamask looks up at her and smiles.]
Is good fordoon!
[It means he won't be stuck here forever and he'll get to return to Marik - or Marik will come here...!]
