Everybody enjoying another peaceful, carefree day in Ultern? Good, because there's a sparkle in the sky other than Ulternian sunshine and look, it's a bird! No, it's a plane! No, it's...

"TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAAAAA—huh? Hey, wait a minute...! Jessie? Meowth?! Where is everybody?!"

Before James can get an answer, he'll be crash-landing in Ohritori! Face full of sand on Stardust Beach? Embarrassingly suspended from a palm tree or even an Exeggutor? Or taking a miserably full-clothed dip in the sea? (Brrr!)

((Is this going to be a repeat of Mairin landing on various ships and needing to be rescued multiple times—perhaps, fortunately, both Mairin and James have terrible luck and certainly can wind up in fixes more times than they can count... maybe he's under the impression he can just launch himself back into the sky and find his friends, who knows?! But he just keeps landing here... oof.))

Chloe isn't too surprised by the overdramatics, but the last comment definitely gives her pause.

"Um, yes, this is my partner Eevee," she says slowly. "Don't you remember her?"

Maybe he had landed harder than he thought....

"Eevee?!" says Eevee. She jumps down to inspect James closer.

James blinked at her, eyes blissfully blank, reflecting the perfectly vacant expanse of his mind...

"Remember her...?" James repeated, just as slowly, and watched as Eevee sniffed about him. "She seems terribly friendly... do we know each other well? You, Eevee, and I? You seem confident we've met, but... I mean, I know Jessie always wanted an Eevee, but we were never particularly close with any—oh!"

A girl with an Eevee, green eyes, and very long purplish red hair...

"Are we related?!" James asked in surprise. "HAVE I HIT MY HEAD SO HARD I LOST YEARS OF MY LIFE?! Do I have amnesia?! What year is it?! Are there any others I should know about?! What else have I forgotten...?!"

Both Chloe and Eevee jump a mile as James devolves into panic and hysteria.

"No!" Chloe exclaims. "We're not related! You're just always trying to catch Pikachu and sometimes we're around too. Please don't worry!" She still wonders if he's hurt, but more likely ...

"People seem to come here from different time periods a lot. So maybe in your timeline, I'm still in your future? Where were you before you came here?"

Always trying to catch Pikachu? Oh, is that all? He seemed instantly relieved, if a bit embarrassed now of his earlier outburst!

"Oh, good... ahaha, I don't know how I thought that could be true! That could never happen... but I still don't remember any girl with Eevee!" James frowned. "Sometimes... meaning, more than once?"

Might she be a new twerpette?

Fortunately, what Chloe said next answered his unspoken question.

"... I was in Twinleaf Town, in the Sinnoh region. This really doesn't look like Sinnoh... it's much too warm and tropical. Is this Hoenn? It doesn't quite resemble it either..."

"Sinnoh or Hoenn.... Hmmm. So maybe you remember Dawn and May?" Chloe suggests. "This is Ultern." It was more like Alola, which it would seem James might have mentioned if he'd been there yet....

James nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! The Pokemon Coordinators, I remember them well! In fact, Dawn had just gone back home to Twinleaf and Ash had placed in the Top 4..."

Oh, wow, he sounded like a stalker. Maybe he shouldn't have said that. Or, well, she already knew he was constantly following Ash around...

"... I've... never heard of Ultern before today..." James said nervously.

He didn't remember Chloe or Ultern, but she clearly knew Ash, Pikachu, May, and Dawn!

Chloe relaxes more. "It sounds like you really must be from the past," she says. So hopefully he wasn't really hurt.

She smiles wanly. "I don't think anyone hears of Ultern until they end up here."

"Eevee-vee!" says Eevee.

"So you've landed here alone?" Chloe glances around. "I wonder if Jessie and Meowth are here but landed somewhere else...."

“Oh, I hope so!”

James brightened immediately. Is there any fast way to travel high here? Or a high vantage point to look for everyone? Oh, I do wish I still had the hot air balloon…”

"I think the only way is a Flying Pokemon," Chloe says. "I don't remember seeing any hot air balloons here...."

Eevee points at a tree. "Eevee-vee!" James could climb that for a better view!

"A Flying type, is that? Unfortunately, I don't really train any flying or floating Pokemon, not anymore, anyway... Carnivine can jump quite high, but it's not quite the same as flying..."

James laughed a little at Eevee's suggestion, although it's a fond little laugh. "That's a very clever idea... but I'm afraid I need to go even higher to see more than just the beach. But it's a nice place to start. Thank you."

"Yeah.... Hmm.... Someone might be willing to fly you around a little," Chloe suggests. "Everyone here is really nice. I'm sure they'd help when it's to look for missing people and Pokemon."

Eevee chirps.

"Then, I'll just have to ask around! Thank you so much, miss, ah... I never caught your name! You already know me, but I still never learned your name."

Addressing Eevee, "I do hope I never tried to steal you... if I have, I hope you'll understand it's just my job. Until I find my friends, a truce!"

"I'm Chloe," Chloe says. "Chloe Cerise."

Eevee warbles cheerfully. He did try a couple of times, but she is very innocent and sweet and forgiving!

"A truce sounds great," Chloe says.

"Then... thank you, Miss Cerise... if I have other questions, I'll know who to ask! I've got to get looking."

He waved at Eevee too. What a cute Pokemon! "Goodbye!"

With that, James turned to leave.

"Good luck!" Chloe said.

Eevee waved with a paw and chirped Goodbye!

Chloe moved to go as well but then paused. "We could ... help you look," she offered. They didn't have anything they needed to do and it seemed like the right thing under the circumstances.

"Oh, will you?" James asked as he turned back, surprised, but happy. "Then, help me find a Flying type big enough to carry me!"

“Of course,” Chloe says. “We should do what we can to help you find your friends.” Especially when they might be hurt….

“Maybe we can walk along the beach. Sometimes people come and let their Flying Pokemon out here to fly over the water.”

James nodded and walked along the beach with Chloe.

He watched the waves and started to feel a little more relaxed and calm. When he noticed something shining in the sand, he ran eagerly towards it, bent down, and picked out... a bottlecap.

"I've never seen one of these!" he said with a grin. "Some local brand?"

Chloe is a bit surprised by the enthusiasm for such a common object, but then she smiles a bit. It's certainly a better hobby than stealing Pokemon.

"I guess so," she says. "I don't think anybody's drifted in with a bottle from home."

"Vee?" Eevee studies it with a heavy look of concentration. Then she wags her tail happily. "Vee-vee-vee!"

Stealing is his job, mind, his hobbies include travelling and bottlecap-collecting!

It's a green bottlecap lined with text, from some sort of Ulternian Rum, Eevee! It might mostly smell of sea salt and sand at this point, but her nose might pick up other trace scents.

"I wonder what I drifted in with..."

James searched his pockets. His pokeballs he had on him in Sinnoh were all here, fortunately, but also... many more bottlecaps in a little tin. Also, some makeup. A fresh rose!

"If it's a truce and business is on hold, I suppose, I won't be needing this... here, how about you and Eevee have it?" James offered them the rose. "As thanks! As for me, my memento will be..."

He added the new bottlecap to the tin, then, fondly picked up a particularly worn-down-looking old bottlecap emblazoned with a red R. He rubbed it with his gloved thumb, then looked saddened again.

"I hope I find my friends..."

"Why, thank you," Chloe smiled in touched surprise as she took the rose.

Eevee sniffed it happily. She liked this even better than the bottlecap!

Chloe gave him a kind look. "I hope you will too," she said. There was the chance they weren't here, but they could be. "If they're here, I wonder where they'd go.... Maybe Jessie would like the shops on the beach?"

"Oh, she would!" James said happily. "That might be a good idea, especially if her uniform got dirty... or if she wanted to disguise herself! Like, a bathing suit or those... touristy-looking shirts. Or even if she just saw somethin—ooh! A discount!!"

James might already be distracted, but hey, this might be the same line of thinking Jessie might follow!

"A discount?" Chloe looks to see what kind of discount has got James so excited.

"Eevee-vee!" Eevee chirps excitedly.

"There, the store selling beach apparel!" James pointed. "It looks like a steal! Let's go and see what we'll find! Maybe we'll even find Jessie or Meowth!"

Though, there might be exceptions written in fine print, but James wasn't the best at paying attention to this sort of thing...
