Petal Cookie Meme

Today in Ultern the delicious smell of Petal Cookies may waft throughout! It looks like there's someone out there already practicing for the upcoming Harvesting Bonds Festival by baking a lot of cookies. Like, a lot! So much so they've set up advertising free cookies for all in a variety of colors, flavors and shapes too!

Why not go ahead and take a few? It looks like there's plenty of Ulternians and Drifters alike already enjoying some without any signs of adverse effects anyway-

Haha just kidding! Once again apologies to any Domeists in the area.

THE COOKIES

Whatever you meant to say, it's not coming out! In fact only lies keep piling up! Gosh dang it, why can't you spit out the truth!?

There's a sigh from Kam while shifting to hold the child in both his arms. The dead look in his eyes, and from his hair obviously having been pulled and the front of his shirt having been unzipped the child clearly threw the biggest fit in the world.

"Is it?" Came his flat question. The child is still squirming causing Kam to glare at him. Not that it deterred the child one bit as he's pouting and yanking at Kam's hair.

"Oooh, look look!" The child in his excitement whipped around to point at the petal cookie in Gold's hand. "We should get more!"

All the while he doesn't realize that was just forcing Kam's head to jerk forward as his hand was still tangled in Kam's hair.

"Yup," Gold says through chewing. He eyes the kid Kam's got, and he really wants to ask who he is, but since he's stuck lying he's not sure how that'd turn out.

"You look like you're having a great time," he tells Kam seriously. "And you should totally let that kid eat as many cookies as he wants. Nothing can go wrong with that."

One of the great things about lies is that sometimes, they're just a tone of voice away from sarcasm.

There's a deep sigh from Kam. He was most definitely having the best of best time here with this wild child in his arms. He could at least detect Gold's sarcasm without having to look. Unfortunately it didn't work on the strange child who's expression lit up.

"Yay! I'm getting more!" He'll release Kam's hair before throwing his arms up high and managing to slip out of Kam's hold. Before Kam could interject he'll happily run over to Gold. "Let's go get more together!!"

Welp, this kid, whoever he is, should definitely not eat more.

"Yeah, sure!" Gold says, and grabs the kid's hand so he won't run off on him, having no intention of letting him eat cookies before figuring out what kind of an effect he's under. It doesn't seem like the lying effect Gold got, so it's gotta be something else. "Which ones didn't you eat?"

A question can't be a lie, but Gold goes with opposite speech just in case it'd get twisted anyway.

"Yay! You always make me happy!" The child giggled while holding Gold's hand. At his question he looked thoughtful. "It was sweet! And...Cleffa colored!"

Kam sighed, taking a moment to readjust himself by brushing his hair back and zipping his shirt. He will show clear disdain at the boy.

"He snatched it out of my hand." He'll begin to explain. "...that kid's a Togepi. The moment he ate one of those cookies he changed like this."

Said child was currently stucking his tongue out at Kam.

"Always?" Gold echoes, but immediately remembers the kid mistook him for someone named Chris. Another him from another world, probably. He nods at the explanation, both from the Togepi kid and from Kam, and... kind of freezes when he realizes that if this is Kam's Pokemon, and he mistook him for someone named Chris... That's got to be Etharon, right?

...Or not? Wasn't there time travel involved, and Etharon got removed from existence or something, and only Kam remembered he existed, so how would his Pokemon... No, nevermind, this is making Gold's head hurt, and it's not really relevant to the cookie business going on right now.

So, orange cookies made you lie, and pink cookies turned Pokemon into humans... Then the other cookies must have different effects.

"I don't get it!" Gold says with a nod of understanding. "Another pink cookie would be bad for him then." He winks at Kam with a grin as he says it, hoping Kam catches his meaning. There's a chance the kid'll turn right back into a Togepi, and even if he doesn't, there's probably no harm in him eating the same one.

"Yeah!" The Togepi kid beamed while swinging their linked arms without a thought. Kam's eyes were trained on the Togepi weary. He moved his gaze over back to Gold when he spoke. He sighed. Yet at the wink from Gold, and from the way he's been talking had his gears turning.

"You're right." He agreed--making it clear he caught onto Gold's meaning.

"Not fair! Not fair! Chris shares snacks with me all the time but you never do!" He's stomping his feet and pouting big.

A smirk formed on Kam's face.

"Good thing I'm not him, then." Digging into his pockets he's tossing the extra pink petal cookie he had snagged earlier towards the Togepi. The Togepi beamed but looked caught between catching the cookie and letting go of Gold's hand.

He got his intention through! Man, this lying stuff is so easy.

Gold just smiles when the Togepi kid pouts and complains, but when Kam throws the cookie and the Togepi hesitates, Gold dives to catch it before it hits the ground!

"Phew," he goes after catching the cookie. "You should waste food," comes out of his mouth before he catches himself and cringes. "I mean- You know." He sighs and gives a pained look at Kam, hoping he'll tell the Togepi what he meant. 'Don't waste food' is an important lesson to learn!

This situation, where he's looking down at Gold felt oddly deja vu for Kam. Instead of dwelling on it, he shook his head.

"Whatever, he'd eat anything even if it fell on the ground." He spoke with his arms crossing, followed by a tired glance at the Togepi-turned boy. The Togepi however was cheering for Gold.

"Yaaay!" He's hopping up and down cheering. "You're so cool! But um, um, I don't want to waste the food. Can I eat it? I wanna eat it!"

Kam didn't get it...! Gold pouts as he gets up from the ground, and hands the cookie to the Togepi without a word.

It really bothers him to have said something so against his ways to an impressionable kid who just doesn't get the lying effect he's under. He wants to clear things up, but he can't! So he just turns away, crossing his arms in a huff and keeps his mouth shut.

What's wrong with Gold? Kam's quiet as he studied the other for a second.

Togepi meanwhile began to drool a little even with the cookie shoved into his hands. He looked conflicted having been told to waste food.

"Look, it's fine." He'll stuff his hands into his pocket. Ugh, having a heart to heart... "He's just playing a game, Pokey."

Pokey the Togepi looked over to Kam puzzled.

"Game? Oh...!" He gasped with his eyes lighting up in delight. "What kind of game are we playing today?"

Okay, Kam's telling Pokey things, that's good. Gold keeps quiet and waits, tapping his foot impatiently.

He's changed his mind, this lie effect sucks. He just wants to tell the kid to eat!

Kam's glancing over to Gold again, while Pokey's eagerly waiting for an answer. There's a sigh as Kam sent a sharp look over to Pokey.

"Just eat the cookie already."

"You're so mean!" Pokey's pouting. "I don't like you anyway, pffbbt!" He stuck his tongue out, blowing a raspberry right at Kam before moving closer to Gold again. From the loud munching sounds that follows he's very obviously eating the cookie. There's a sigh from Kam, as he crossed his arms.

Gold can't help but smile to himself when Pokey acts difficult. It's hard to stay grumpy when this kid reminds him so much of his own Togetic. Are all Togepi like that?

When Pokey eats the cookie, Gold turns around and gives a smile and a thumbs-up. Good job! He can't say that out loud, so he hopes the gesture is enough.

"Hey, maybe I shouldn't get some of those pink cookies for my Pokemon!" he says to Kam.

Seeing the smile and thumbs up from Gold gets a smile back from Pokey in return. His face is covered in pink cookie crumbs. As is his hoodie. In fact he still looked the same despite eating the cookie, which had Kam frowning.

"Are you sure?" He turned to give a look to Gold. "What if they don't turn back to normal?"

"Yay!" Pokey beamed as he threw his hands up. "That means I can talk and play with Chris the same way you do, Gold! But nicer!"

"..." Kam's going quiet. From the way his brows are knitted together, and his eyes narrowing he obviously had some Rude Things to say to Pokey but keeping them to himself.

So none of the cookies cancel themselves out if you eat two, then. Good to know.

Gold looks unconcerned about Kam's concern, like the idea of them not turning back didn't even cross his mind.

"Not your first time seeing Ultern magic, huh?" Gold says to Kam with a raised eyebrow and an easy smile. "I've never seen anything like it before, and it totally won't wear off by tomorrow. Worry all you want!"

Since Kam's only been in Ultern for a short while, Gold figures it makes sense he'd be unused to things like this. He himself has seen enough to be certain it'll wear off on its own.

...He just smiles to Pokey and doesn't talk to him. He doesn't want to lie to a kid that doesn't get that he's lying, so he'll leave it to Kam to deal with him, and goes to grab some pink cookies.

"Ultern magic...?" Gold what are you, like 5? Who even believed in magic? Is what is probably in Kam's mind based on the sigh and his arms remaining crossed. Still Gold didn't seem concerned so that's a little reassuring.

"Oh Chris! Wait for me!" Pokey made a move eager to follow Gold, only to be lifted up once again by Kam. "Nooo! Let gooo I don't wanna be carried I wanna run around with Chriiiis!"

Time for him to throw the biggest baby tantrum, as Kam sighed and waited for Gold to return.

What was with that disbelieving tone? Oh man, Kam doesn't believe in Ultern magic? Gold chuckles and shakes his head in a slightly condescending way. Well, Kam's still new to Ultern, so he'll learn.

It's starting to be a little annoying to be called Chris, but it's not like he can do anything about it, so he'll just ignore Pokey for now.

Gold returns soon with a small stack of pink cookies in hand, and start calling his Pokemon out of their Pokeballs.

"Carn!" he says, and a Meganium pops out. Gold tosses him a cookie, and he catches it in his mouth. "Elena!" A Furret, who Gold just hands the cookie to. She chitters a thanks. "Nerica!" A Togetic, who flies to grab a cookie from Gold's hand on her own. "Mateo!" An Umbreon, who waits for Gold to toss him the cookie, catching it in mid-air. "Umbar!" Finally, a Lugia, who Gold doesn't have any cookies for. Umbar tilts his head and has a short stare-off with Gold, and then turns into a human on his own.

"Oh my, I've eaten a cookie and turned into a human," Umbar says jovially, raising a hand to his face in mock surprise.

Kam was having a Great Time with Pokey who was still being uncontrollable. He's flailing and tugging at Kam's hair again earning a quiet ire from the guy. It's not until Gold returned did Pokey immediately stop tugging at Kam's hair. He will however excitedly beam waving and flailing his arms.

"Yay! He brought-" Pokey stopped blinking. It doesn't take him long to realize he didn't recognize any of the Pokemon on Gold's team. Not even Carn. "Who are they?"

Kam on the other hand quietly judged whether it was a good idea to let Pokey down or not. He didn't want to cause Gold trouble with his Problem Pokemon. Tearing his gaze away he looked over to Gold and Umbar. His gaze growing sharp for a moment as if he wasn't exactly welcoming of the Legendary.

It doesn't last from Pokey's hand flying straight for his face.

"Bad!!"
