A Trainer Just Wanna Have Fun!
A. RING RING!
[Wherever you are, your Phone of some kind is going off. On the other end? It's this guy!]
Hey there! Ulsai! What's up? What cha doing? I'm bored, tell me things!
B. ENCOUNTER!
[At Any Route a near by tall grass or bush will wiggle before he jumps straight out with his arms spread out.]
Aha! Our eyes met! Ya know what that means, right?!
[From the playful gleam in his eyes it's clear he was simply just kidding around.]
[ooc: feel free to casually use any name on this kiddo--he'll just pretend it's his name and won't correct anyone at all.]

Even if your goal is just to have fun, I'll support it! Just because another you became a Champion doesn't mean you have to, after all! Just do what you want to do.
Yeah, he is! I've met him too... Actually, he moved to my hometown! I only met him briefly before I had to move for my job, but my little brother and the neighbor's kid both got their first Pokemon from him, and helped him fill the Pokedex! So they're both a lot more familiar with him.
Thank you! Let's see... How much older is your brother than you? And what's the name of the town you're from? Ah, that second question is because I'm trying to see if there's a pattern between worlds where I exist and worlds where I don't... Oh! Does your brother have any Pokemon?
[His questions are a little haphazard, because it's his first time encountering another Ken (by proxy) and he's more excited than he's prepared!]
I'm personally a fan of Pokemon research magazines! Like National Pokegraphic and Pokemon Handbook and so on...

[He'll grin but let that part of the conversation die (unless Ken continued it, then, well-).]
Whoa! That's cool--in my case I met him while on an errand for Professor Elm. Do ya know who that is? Oh, and what kinda job did you have back in your world? Was it with the radio too? That's cool your brother and his friend's helping with the Pokedex! I guess it's like that for me too, haha! I still got a lot to work on!
[Ethan listened in as Ken had questions about well, "Ken". He's nodding making "mmhmm" sounds before waiting to reply.]
We're not that much apart in age--Ken's just a lil' bit older than I am. The town I'm in is New Bark--wait, what's your hometown called? Is it the same, or different?
[He figured it wouldn't hurt to tell Ken that much about his home since, well. Gold was around...and Ethan? People talked about Ethan, so.]
Ah, nah. Ken don't have any Pokemon. He's indoors for a reason--he wasn't always the strongest when we were much younger, and Professor Elm only needed one of us to help him out with his errand so I took on the job, and he gave me a Pokemon. But if Ken ever wanted one he can always count on me!
[He beamed at that.]
I remember the last Pokemon magazine I looked at was published by the Pokemon Fanclub! But man, if there's magazines from other regions around I gotta definitely check it out. It'd give me an excuse to see what other Pokemon are out there outside'a Johto!

I see! That's a lot different than me then, I'm eight years older than my brother! And we're from Silent Town. So you're from New Bark Town too! That does change some of my theories, I expected Silent Town to be a constant between worlds that have a me...
[Ken finds a piece of paper and a pen as he's talking and starts writing some notes about what he's learning. He might be approaching finding out about his other selves the same way as he'd approach researching Pokemon. His writing pauses when he hears the next thing Ethan tells about "Ken."]
Oh... So he's sickly? That's a shame. It's a good thing he's got you to rely on!
[Ken feels a bit protective for the other him now, knowing he's only a little bit older than Ethan and stuck inside. He's promoting him to 'little brother' tier in his mind.]
You should! Oh, that reminds me, you probably have a Johto Pokedex, right? You can have it updated if you talk to Professor Banyan, who lives on Ohritori Island! Then you'll be able to look up any Pokemon you want.

[Since can't see him nodding along to what he's saying, he'll make it vocally known he's listening.]
That's cool you can work as a radio DJ here too! It's gotta be fun, right? It sounds like it'd be fun! Ah, nah. There ain't too many other kids in my neighborhood--except Professor Elm's own son but that kiddo's younger than I am. Not old enough to be running around with a Pokemon of his own yet, and no guarantee if he wanna help out with his Dad's work by the time he is a trainer!
[Silent Town? What a name for a town, but New Bark was no better. Not that Ethan will comment on that. Instead he made a "hmm" sound.]
All I know is, the world's a biiig place! Who knows? Maybe some other Ken will show up who came from the same town you grew up in--or his lil' bro! Pretty exciting to think about, yeah?
[At talking about his brother, Ethan's glad no one else was around. He's smiling, but he looked a little wistful.]
Of course I'd look out for him! He's my bro through and through!
[At the mention of updating his Pokedex, Ethan blinked. He hadn't even thought to find out anything on that here. That was good to know, and gave him something to work on.]
Huh, okay, got it! Where exactly is he at? I think I might go take care of that soon! There's no telling when I'll need ta use my Pokedex!
no subject
Yeah, it's fun! It's what I'm passionate about, too! I love spreading knowledge to people and helping them.
No other kids around? Huh, I see. [Ken starts writing this down, but then pauses.] Oh, but, I think I heard the neighbor's kid lived somewhere else in another world and ended up meeting that world's you anyway, so there's a chance you've met another him too. He's a kid around your age with long red hair, does that ring any bells?
[If it was Gold asking this, he'd absolutely have ulterior motives and try to gauge Ethan's reaction, but Ken has no idea about any of that! He's just curious about other worlds.]
Yeah, I hope so too! Though mostly I'd really like if my little brother from my world showed up... I miss him! And seeing other kids who look like him doesn't really fix that, you know? And me being here probably doesn't help if you miss your brother, either...
[Ken may be projecting, but he gets the feeling Ethan misses his brother, too.]
Yeah... That's what it's like being a brother, huh? I'd do anything for that little scamp...
[He says that with a fond smile, but trails off, holding in what he wants to say next. 'I'd help you too if you needed anything' would be weird to say to an alternate version of his brother who he doesn't really even know. He's learned that much from Gold. No more overstepping his boundaries.]
He lives near Turnbloom City! Just find the flower-covered house near the beach at Route 1 and you've found the place!
[Speaking of things he learned from Gold, he refrains from telling Ethan that Gold lives at Banyan's place! Turns out telling strangers where somebody lives is bad. Who knew.]

[At Ken's question on Silver reminded Ethan the first ever time anyone had questioned him about him. He had the chance to tell them the truth, and give their name but he couldn't do it. Even now, while Ken seemed harmless enough, in this place where different worlds converged--he couldn't bring himself to admit the truth.]
Nah, I dunno who that is! I guess the closest I've got to a friend would be this Bug Catcher--oh! Juggler Irwin! He's pretty cool too!
[How that Juggler guy somehow knows the name of protagonists will be a mystery but you know, he's harmless so-]
Well I hope you'll get ta see your lil' bro! Sounds like ya miss him lots.
[He'll opt to encourage Ken--and at the other's comment, it's followed by a light laugh.]
Aw heck, I haven't been away from him that long to be missing him already! Besides that, no matter where I go, he'll always be with me. ...in my heart or something sappy like that, haha!
[He couldn't help but smile when Ken spoke of his own brother. Ethan couldn't help but quietly agree within his mind about his own.]
Hmm, Turnbloom City...oh! Route 1! That makes it easier, I think! Okay, thanks Ken! I should definitely swing by sooner rather than later t'get my Pokedex upgraded! I've already seen a number of Pokemon I really, really wanna know what they're all about!

[And he's had some real rough days in the past...]
I see... [Ken makes a note of that.] Irwin? Come to think of it, I think I've had a call or two from someone with that name in my program... Anyway, I guess it's safe to say the neighbor's kid doesn't exist in your world, then! Interesting.
Oh, have you only recently drifted in? I'm glad you feel that way! I hope you - like living in Ultern!
[His original statement, "I hope you never will miss your brother" felt too ominous to say, so Ken held it in and changed the tracks that sentence was going.]
No problem! Hope you get to meet the Professor!

[Ethan has no way of knowing what Ken has gone through but nevertheless he's smiling on the other end of the line. Although Ken's reaction to him not knowing Silver, made him wary. He will however keep up his light tone.]
Wow, I wouldn't be surprised if it's somehow the same Irwin I know! But it could just be someone else with the same name. All kinds of people show up here don't they? Just like Pokemon! How cool!
[At Ken's question he's considering his options on how to respond--eh, it's not like the guy would get much out of him by knowing anyway.]
Yeah, about a month now so it's not too short or too long being here! It's a nice new place ta explore.
[Thankfully Ethan's willing to overlook the strange pause between Ken's last statement. They weren't face to face, after all.]
Thanks! For chatting and the info! Well, I should get going now--and hey maybe we can chat again some other time! I got your number after all!
no subject
Probably! Or the same person from another world. It's pretty interesting, yeah! There's a lot of different worlds, some I'd never have even dreamed of!
Just a month! Wow, that is short. Welcome to Ultern, then!
You're welcome! I'd love to talk to you again whenever I've got time. And hey, you can always call my radio program whenever I'm accepting listener calls, too! Bye-bye, Ethan!
no subject
I guess there's no way ta know for sure, but getting to know about different worlds...yeah, that sounds like fun!
Heheh, thanks for the welcome Ken! I'll be sure ta call ya some time! Laters!
