Friendly (?) scientist has landed
1. Overlook Hill, Ohritori Island
[ Not one to stick around in a single location for too long, Colress has gone off to explore the Island after making some queries of Nurse Emi, map in hand and the weight of his Poké Balls reassuring in the inside lining of his lab coat.
The prospect of a new region to explore — new flora, new fauna, new locals, new data for experiments — is any scientist's dream. Normally, it would be his, too — but truth be told, he could use a little break after abdicating his position at Team Plasma, and time alone doing nothing sounds... well, it sounds ideal. As such, he's found the highest point in Ohritori, a place removed from the bustle of both the city and much of the surrounding wilderness. What better vantage point for deciding where to go next (what to do) than above?
Shielding his eyes from the sun, he leans over to examine the sign. In time, he'll decide whether he needs to learn Ulternian script and its accompanying language. For now, the translation beneath, which he understands (do all Drifted understand, he wonders?), will suffice. ]
"When everything feels like an uphill struggle, just think of the view from the top," hm?
2. Grand Theater Hall
[ Alternatively, Colress finds himself standing in front of Grand Theater Hall, the faintest of smiles tugging at the corner of his mouth. He's hardly aware of it, lost in thought about a certain Trainer he happened to glimpse on TV one day in the role of a scientist. That same Trainer had gone on to beat him, not once, not twice, but three times in Pokémon battles, proving to him that the trust they shared with their team resulted in "strength"... how mysterious people could be sometimes, he remembers thinking when he saw them on screen then. How multifaceted. ]
Here, Contests and Musicals, [ he says to himself, loud enough to be caught by anyone standing within several feet of him. ] In another universe, movies and serials. I wonder what other forms of entertainment Pokémon are employed in, beyond what we know... do they awaken to their hidden potential even with these...?

"I don't have much experience with it," he admits, smiling down at the fluffy Pokémon. "I take it you're a performer at this facility? Do you participate in Musicals or Contests? ...Incidentally, do you have an owner?"
no subject
She droops slightly. "I have a person, but Team Rocket took me away from him. I'm looking everywhere for him!"
1!
Ulsai!
[He'll given the Alolan wave despite his greeting.]
Did you come up here to see the view too? It's really nice isn't it?
Sorry for the late tag, life's kicking my butt! orz
Ulsai! It's a marvellous view.
[ He glances back at the sprawl of land and sea as if to confirm, the hazy outline of a smaller, uninhabited island in the far-off distance. It is marvellous, but it's also — different. It's different from Unova, all industry and entertainment and signs of man mastering his environment even where the conditions are inhospitable. ]
I'd never even heard of Ultern before this. Strange to think it's where I've ended up.
No worries, no worries! There's no rush with tags!
[Elio beamed--full of energy as always. At his comment on Ultern, Elio nodded.]
It was the same for me, but a lot of it reminds me of Alola so it hasn't been a bad time staying here, ehehe. ...oh! My name is Elio by the way! Elio from the Alola region! What is your name?

Colress. [ He extends a hand towards her, as he's used to doing, but a second later he remembers — people do things differently here. ] Ulsai. Yes, I'm from Unova. And you... Kanto or Johto, is it?

2!
And what better person to ask than someone in a lab coat!? They usually know a lot!
"Excuse me, sir, are you a scientist!? And, may I ask, what is a 'serial'? I think I have managed to grasp the idea of movies - though I've yet to see one. so perhaps I'm imagining them all wrong - but I have never heard of a serial!"
Volo... never change
"Hello. Yes, I am a scientist." It's an introduction he's made literally dozens of times before, but why does he suddenly feel silly saying it? "A 'serial' is similar to a movie, but shorter in length and typically aired on television instead of a big screen. ...You are acquainted with televisions, aren't you?"
no subject
Volo nods slowly as he listens, with a look of intense concentration on his face.
"So...movies are long, and on a big screen." He holds out his arms wide to demonstrate, though it's not clear who he's demonstrating to. Himself, probably. Then he brings his hands in closer. "Videos are short, and on a small screen, like the ones that people carry in their bags or pockets. Am I to assume that...a serial, and therefore a television, are somewhere in the middle? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around all the different types of screens, you see, and what they're for. There are a great many of them..."
1 [eeee, welcome, more Unova characters!!!! \o/]
While she felt perfectly in her element among the flowers, spotting the familiar face, although the way he dressed was unfamiliar, Iris felt... suspicion and fear, remembering the chaos Colress' machine brought to Unova.
She's not as young as she once was and she's become more powerful, more skilled—and Colress, too, looked different. She knew this world drew in people from different places and times, so she shouldn't be quick to assume he's exactly the same Colress she encountered. He might not even have the same name or live the same life!]
... what're you doing here? [She didn't mean for the tone to be accusatory, but it was an unfortunate result of her brash, honest nature. At the very least, she kept still and did not seem intent on attacking him, although she had her guard raised quite high.
He was reading the sign, wasn't he? She wasn't sure if it was just to learn where he was or if he really was in some state of uncertainty... besides that, this could be some Colress entirely different from the one in her world, right?]
... what path will you take? [This might've been an attempt at a slightly less rude beginning to their conversation.]

I knew a Zorua who was kind of annoying, 'cause she was always stealing my face and doing stupid stuff, but she loved acting. Give her a script or even just a little direction and she would act her heart out in front of the camera.
I think she liked being transformed a lot more than not, even though I imagine it takes up a lot of energy.
