[MINI EVENT] ☆T A N A B A T A☆

Those from the four regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh will be very familiar with the sight of bamboo stalks that are left outside decorated with colorful and sparkly paper decorations. There are people gathering around, helping one another put up paper amulet of varying colors to tie around the bamboo branches. On each amulet is a single wish that’s been handwritten by someone.

One can only hope that their wish will be heard…

At night, there’s a surprise to be found: an alternate colored Jirachi is out dressed in what’s clearly a handmade costume. Around its neck, is a colorful paper chain made of sparkly origami paper.



Not only has Jirachi come to grant wishes, Miniors are out and about bright and colorful. They’ll be dancing around seemingly trying to invite people to come join them in the festivities.

((OOC: Happy Tanabata! In the morning is a general mingle post. But as the evening sets in and Jirachi appears, it will start granting the wish written on your amulet whether big or small -- wealth, a long life, or maybe a way to return home. You're free to catch Miniors too, and there's a slightly better chance of encountering a shiny one as well. Just be careful of the ones still in their shell or you might just get a rather explosive surprise...

This event can take place at any town, so feel free to specify a location!))

A. Wish Making

[X is staring hard at the bamboo stalk with wishes that dangle upon them already. He's looking at his blank paper amulet frowning. It won't come true, but...]

I wish to see my friends.

[Once he hangs it up, he'll begin to leave.]

B. Playful Miniors
[X is out with his Quaxly, Coiffe when he spots the Miniors. Immediately his Pokedex will be out into his hands, hoping to retrieve any data on them. However he doesn't have time to look at what's on the screen as the Miniors are happily floating over to X, playfully bumping up to his face.]

He-hey!

[At least he doesn't sound distressed as there's a small laugh. X will reach out to give the closest Minior a pat.]

You're real friendly, aren't you?

They're a lot more energetic than the ones I've met in Alola.

[Ash and Pikachu walk up to them with a smile.]

These little guys are called Minior! These Pokemon all came from space and eat up dirt from there.

Hey, Ash.

[X will turn over to Ash, as he nodded his head in greeting. Coiffe too will happily greet both trainer and Pokemon with a quack.]

Minior...a Pokemon from space, got it.

[The wild Miniors unsurprisingly will also gather over to Ash happily twirling. They all seem so happy, that X found himself smiling still.]

I wonder if they all drifted in like we have...or came in from space.

[Ash is surprised to see the Miniors approach him at first, but then puts on a soft smile as he reaches out and opens his hand for the Meteor Pokemon to land on.]

Beats me. But... I can only hope they're enjoying their time here in Ultern before they leave soon.

[He remembered Kukui's words, and figured he could at least give them a good time until then.]

[The Minior with a smile on its face will happily land on Ash's hand. Yay, friend!!!

The one that approached X too will happily twirl. Coiffe upon seeing it will do a twirl in an attempt to imitate the Minior. X reached out to place a gentle hand upon the Minior.]

Don't stay out too long, if you're able to return home soon Minior. I'm sure you have friends out there waiting for you.

[He spoke quietly, as he thought of his own friends. He had no idea the happy Pokemon in front of them really were enjoying their last moments out in Ultern.]

[There's a quiet pause from Ash after listening to X, which is rather unusual for him. While he's an honest kid, there's a certain truth about Miniors that he's finding it hard to say it outright to his friend. But he shakes off the heavy feeling, not wanting either the Miniors or X to worry and forces a smile at his new friend.]

...Yeah! What X said!

[Pikachu watches Coiffe and does his own twirl too, though after a few spins he starts to feel dizzy and stops instead.]

[The pause doesn't go unnoticed, but X wasn't about to press it. Not when Ash seemed to not want to bring up whatever it is, that's on his mind. Instead, he'll take a chance to glance at his Pokedex that he finally managed to ask for an upgrade, to take a peek at Minior's Pokedex entry which read: "Places where Minior fall from the night sky are few and far between, with Alola being one of the precious few."]

You don't drop by just anywhere, do you?

[He'll turn to the Minior. It of course doesn't seem to understand X's words as it happily twirled and floated over to both Coiffe and Pikachu to greet them.

The Minior in Ash's hand will also make a happy trill of a sound before gently bumping up to Ash's cheek.]

[Ash lets out a laugh before pressing the Pokemon a bit closer to his cheek. This little guy seems to be the world's most friendliest Minior as far as Ash could tell.]

There's one spot in Alola where they usually land -- there's a big hill near the Hokulani Observatory and you'll find plenty of them at night. Watching them fall down from the sky, then float back up again... it's really pretty!

That sounds nice.

[X replied while watching the other Miniors happily floating, and dancing.]

I guess they wouldn't stand out like this if they have fallen during the day...

[The Minior near Ash let out another trill, chime like sound as it pulled away and began to jiggle in front of Ash and X. It was as if the Minior was inviting them to follow along. Taking note, X pocketed his Pokedex away before glancing over to the other Minior who seemed content interacting with both Coiffe and Pikachu still.]

Looks like they really want to play with us.

[Seeing Minior motioning them to come, he nods. Willing to humor the Pokemon's whims.]

Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get going!

[Can't waste any more time when they'll need it to keep it happy until the end. And so, he lets Minior lead the way as he follows behind.]

[X didn't mind joining. The pokemon here were generallh friendly, amd it seemed both Coiffe and Pikachu were having a good time. Following behind both Minior and Ash he saw the sight outstretched before them. The entire place being lit by the Minior's lights as they danced.]

I should have brought a camera with me. I hope Alice and the others are seeing this.

[He'll comment while looking between the happy Miniors, still oblivious to their fates.]

If it gets along with you, why don’t you catch it?

[Lillie offered helpfully, but with a slightly nervous smile.]

It might… save it.

[Why was she looking so nervous? X pondered as he's facing away from the Minior to regard Lillie.]

What do you mean?

[timidlyblooming]

... well, from the moment Minior fall to earth and their shells break, they're basically at the end of their lifespan. They can't survive long without their shells, so... sometimes, a pokeball can work in place of a shell, and you can save them that way.

[Lillie, trying her best to explain.]

It might still be their time to say goodbye, but... if we can save a few, wouldn't that be worth it?

[At the relevation X couldn't hide his surprise. Although he hesitated for a second. Digging into his bag, he'll hold out a number of Pokeballs to Lillie.]


I'll help, but I can't catch them all on my own.

[In fact he'll even pull out his Chesnaught, Marisso to send him out. Turning to him, X placed a hand onto Chesnaught's arm.]

Marisso I'll need your help too.

[timidlyblooming]

[Lillie nodded and accepted them.]

We'll do our best! I think... you won't even have to battle if you can explain it to them, I think they might let you capture them.

Like... Minior? If you go inside the pokeball, it might be enough to keep you alive, wouldn't that be nice? It'll keep you safe, like a new shell!

I don't intend to battle them but I will catch them.

[X will stare at the Pokeball in his hand and glanced at the nearest Minior obliviously floating by. He'll glance to both Marisso and Coiffe who had their attention on X. Sighing, X tossed the Pokeball with his eyes instinctively closing shut in the process. As a result the Pokeball missed it's mark however--]

Marisso use Vinewhip on the Pokeball!

[His Chesnaught will happily obliged in correcting the course.]

[d'aww--maybe his Pokemon can divert this one too]

[Lillie turned around only when she heard the order, confused... oh!

After a stunned moment of silence, Lillie burst into giggles.]

I'm sorry, I'm just... so glad I'm not the only person who has trouble hitting the mark!

[She managed to catch another one without a problem! But when she goes to throw another pokeball—sorry, X, it's going for your head!]

[Hearing Lillie's giggles his instinct was to pull his cap foward, hiding his face. Although he does turn to look at her when she admitted to also having trouble. That was far better than how Blue kept trying to correct how he threw Pokeballs.]

It's not so easy throwing them.

[He'll admit while glancing to the Minior he had somehow managed to catch with Marisso's help. While he still had his gaze over to the Pokeball still, he will point in the direction of the Pokeball heading for his head.]

Coiffe, use Water Gun.

[His Quaxly will use Water Gun to course correct of Lillie's Pokeball towards the closest Minior. While he's doing that, X will lift up the Pokeball with his recently caught Minior. He can see it smiling through the Pokeball.

Pulling out another empty one, X gave a glance to Marisso with a nod, before tossing yet another Pokeball. Which, he of course shut his eyes the moment he threw it towards another Minior.]

[Don't worry, it's a very sympathetic laugh!]

It isn't... seasoned trainers make it look so easy! I supposed that's the way most things are, with practice.

[This sort of chaotic pokeball-tossing will probably continue until they've captured all they can!]

... should we rehome them? Or take them to the lab?

[Of course, he wasn't very good at it despite his experiences with battling. He'll nod in agreement while continuing their Pokeping pong with his Pokemon--until they're out of Pokeballs. Looking at the ones in his arms, and to Lillie X contemplated his options.]

Rehoming them, as in sending them back up right? I could give it a try.

[In fact he's already reaching in to pulling out one of his other Pokeballs. It was better to give it a try first, than rushing to ask the Professors for help. Not that he didn't trust them.]

[Alice looks over in sympathy from hanging her own wish.]

I hope these can come true. Everybody's got something they need, don't they?

[X will turn his attention over to Alice. He had hoped no one would see him hang his wish but somehow, he didn't mind it too much if it was Alice.]

Yeah, it seems like it. I don't really think it will come true but... I think it's nice, to have hope. What did you wish for, Alice?

A breakthrough in the study of this place and how we got here! I thought it was the best option to help everybody, and I must admit I'm personally very curious as well.
