farawayplace | Ohritori Vacation!

[This morning, if you tune in to Ken's Pokemon Talk on the radio, you'll probably hear him announce the program will be on break for the next two weeks while he goes on vacation! And as soon as the program ends, he hops on a boat and is off to Ohritori Island.]

A. GATEWAY PORT

[You can see him arriving at Gateway Port in Turnbloom City, looking pale as he weakly hobbles off a boat and immediately falls onto his knees and hands on the pier, taking deep breaths and looking like he's been suffering from seasickness for the entire journey.]

It's finally over...! Ohritori Island, I'm so glad to see you...

B. POKEMON CENTER

[Once he's rested from his journey, he'll be sitting at the cafe in the Pokemon Center with an ice tea, glancing around somewhat restlessly. A green Ledyba is sitting at his table, eating Berry slices. Spotting you, Ken will smile and wave.

Excuse me, can I ask you a question?

C. ROUTE 1

[Later, Ken can be seen at Route 1 with his Cubburn. He'll find Professor Banyan's laboratory, he'll just wander near it for a while, glancing at the house sometimes like he's trying to gather the courage to approach. Eventually, he'll go up to the door, raise his hand to knock... then hesitates, lowering his hand again. His Cubburn looks up at him with a whine, and Ken sighs.]

I'll do it, just give me a moment...

D. WILDCARD

[Ken can also be seen wandering all around Ohritori Island during his vacation! He doesn't visit the more dangerous places deep in the caves or the forests, but he'll be checking out the tourist spots. Theater Hall, Stardust Beach, the different farms on Gilterrace Town, Route 2 and Route 3; and the Wildflower Cape. Meet him however you want! Also, feel free to recognize his voice from radio!]

[Then she pauses.]

If he's from another world, will he know you?

That's a good question! I've been wondering about that too... I'm guessing you haven't heard him mention having a brother?

I don't think so.... But it was a while ago....

...By the way, did you happen to ever call a radio show?

Yeah! It was fun talking to you!

[So she did recognize him... Ken didn't realize at all. But maybe meeting a radio personality isn't such a big deal to a Pokemon. That feels nice, actually, not being treated like a celebrity.]

You too! But, wow... I never expected to get a call from an Eevee! ...How did you call, anyway?

[He's been wondering about that for a while...]

[Evie thinks it's neat, but she figured she should focus on his questions first before talking about talking with him.]

I was very careful pressing buttons and I used speakerphone!

[Ken is oblivious to that!]

I see! Wow, that's pretty skillful. You mentioned that coming to Ultern let you talk human language, but did you get other skills along with that?

I watched people do things and then I learned to do them too! I could do it back home, but I didn't show Team Rocket I could do it.

[...Did she just say Team Rocket?]

Oh, so they really are your own skills you learned on your own! That's amazing, Evie.

[...Okay, he can't just ignore that.]

Did you just say Team Rocket?

Yeah! I like being able to do things!

[She looks down.]

Team Rocket took me away from my person. I'm trying to find him again....

Oh... You mean Radley? Team Rocket stole you from him? That's terrible...

You know, I got kind of... captured by Team Rocket too, once.

[So Ken can relate...]

Yeah. It happened a long time ago.

[She looks up at him.]

Really?

Yeah... Not just me, though. The radio station I used to work at got taken over by Team Rocket, and all of us who were working at the time got taken hostage...

Oh no! How long were you trapped?

Only about a day, in the end! My little brother dropped everything when he heard about it and came to rescue us... He drove the Rockets away in a flash!

[Though Ken's not entirely happy about that... He would've been fine being trapped for longer if it meant his brother didn't dive into danger!]

Oh, that's good! Your brother is so brave!

A bit too brave, sometimes! But I'm really proud of him.

[Ken absentmindedly touches his necklace as he talks.]

Yeah! Oh, did he give you that pretty necklace?

Ah, no, I bought it in Ultern because it reminded me of him. It's modelled after a Pokemon he has!

[Ken holds the necklace on his palm to let Evie see it better.]

How neat! What Pokemon?

An Aquarius! Or, that's what it's called back home, but Ulternians call it a Donmarin. A lot of worlds don't seem to have them at all, though!
