farawayplace | EVENT: Harvesting Bonds Festival

It’s a nice, fine day in the Ohritori Island of Ultern. The sun is warm and bright with the salty cool breeze playfully swaying through the grass, trees and flowers that are in full bloom. The people specifically those in Gilterrace Town are setting up decorations made with pumpkins. There are even trainers who are out fitting Pokemon in costume.

Amongst it all, near the edge of the town no one notices a lone figure watching the festivities both people and Pokemon seem to be helping one another prepare for. They’re watching from behind a shadow of a large tree, with their bright blue eyes full of intrigue and awe. They seem hesitant in revealing themselves from the shadow–but there’s a welcoming scent wafting through the air of the farming town of Gilterrace.

In the town center there’s a huge setup full of people and Pokemon in costumes gathering around setting up what looked to be a huge feast. The sounds of their laughter and excitement can be heard over the food that’s being prepared.

“If only there was some way…hm…! I know what to do! I will just blend in with them and get a costume of my own!”

It seems yet another festival was brewing–the populace of the town oblivious to the machinations of the one hidden away in the shadows, watching carefully. Stepping out of the shadow, the Legendary Pokemon Calyrex smiled. Yes, this was a wonderful idea. Soon the children of men and Pokemon alike will all remember them just like in the past!

Woah, really?

[Ash takes another look at Calem's costume, taking in the details. Although he doesn't exactly have good judgement on how it's stitched and all, he is definitely impressed by the fact that Calem made his with his own two hands. Now that's skill!]

Cool! You're really good at it!

[But when asked what he wanted to dress up as, that got Ash to pause, followed by him cupping his chin in thought.]

Oh, hmmm... I haven't thought about it yet. [He then glances at his Pikachu.] Got any ideas Pikachu?

Pikaa...

[He then starts moving his head around, as if he's searching for something. What exactly does he want to dress up as for today...?]

[Oh no, cute...Calem can't help but grin a little bit, at that. He certainly takes pride in what he does, after all!]

Thank you! I really do appreciate it.

[The duo's contemplation gets a pause from Calem as he considers something...but, well, there's still plenty of time--he's used to working on a crunch, sometimes.]

Well...I imagine that a duo like you two must want to dress in a matching theme, perhaps? Something the both of you can feel connected in. [Hmm!] Perhaps that would be a good start; if we can find something inspirational, I would be happy to make a costume for you.

Matching costumes? Hey, that's a great idea!

[He can imagine himself and Pikachu running around the streets in their matching costumes together. ...But that still begs the question of what they would dress up as together.]

Something the both of us can feel connected huh...?

[It's then both Ash and Pikachu start staring at each other in thought, as he wonders what that something is. There were a lot of things that Ash felt made him and Pikachu grow closer together as a team. But he wasn't sure what could be translated into a costume.

...It's only until something on the roof nearby caught Ash's eyes, and he claps his hands together.]

Oh yeah! Ho-Oh!

Pi-ka!

[His Pikachu nods, as if he too were in agreement with Ash's suggestion.]

[Calem listens, thinking as they seem to come to the same conclusion; why, Calem even seems to clap his hands together in delight.]

Ohh, a simply lovely idea-- [teenage vernacular has gone out the WINDOW] --and I think it would truly allow you to shine as well! What better way to honor this new region than with a costume of one of it's guardians...or perhaps even the two--I can see your dear partner wearing a Shi-Sah costume, standing at your side most wonderfully...

Ahhh, I'm simply ablaze with ideas!

[Calem offers his hand in pure delight.]

Come with me! My tent is only a little further out--I've been using it as a temporary workshop, while I've been here. I'd love nothing more than to bring this glorious idea to life!

[He blinks momentarily. Woah why is Calem talking funny all of a sudden??? Not that it matters since the sudden offer of getting their costumes made has led Ash to a realization just now.]

...Wait you're gonna make costumes for us? [Ash looks at Calem excitedly, grinning from ear to ear.] Wow, that's awesome! You hear that buddy?

Pikachaa!

[Dressing up as Ho-Oh and Shi-Sah, the region's guardians as he was told. He doesn't know how the costumes will look like, but after seeing the other's costume, he trusts Calem enough to work his magic. He eagerly nods before he starts following behind Calem.]

Oh yeah, I'm Ash by the way! And this is my buddy, Pikachu! [His Pikachu cheerfully squeaks.] It's nice to meet you!

Well, of course! You'd be surprised just how little time it'll take to make something absolutely dazzling!

[But, ah--before he gets ahead of himself--]

My name is Calem; it is a pleasure to meet the both of you, Ash and Pikachu.

But come! We haven't time to waste; let me see just what I can produce for the both of you!

[He is, thankfully, not simply going to drag Ash and Pikachu with him, but it will take a bit for the costume to be made--there's measurements to be done, creative liberties and making sure they honor the Pokemon as best as Calem can, and so much material to make sure actually fits correctly, but...!

By the time Calem is done with them (in a handwaved whirlwind, likely), they both should have some very lovely costumes--in front of a large mirror that Calem has set up, he puts on some of the finishing touches for them, and...]

Well? What do you both think?

[Once the two gaze at their reflection, Ash's and Pikachu's eyes sparkle at the sight of their new costumes -- A yellow straw hat matching with the vibrant gold and red cape covering over a white jinbei for Ash, and a similar jinbei but with a large red-colored mane-like collar for Pikachu. He turns around as he happily checks each side of his costume.]

Woah-ho! This is so cool, it's like I'm wearing Ho-Oh's feathers!

[He playfully waves his arms as he watches his cape swaying alongside them. And when Ash's gaze shifts to his partner, he takes a moment to admire his Pikachu's costume before lifting him up.]

...And look at you buddy! You totally resemble Shi-Sah!

Pi-kachu!

[Feeling overjoyed, he beams at Calem.]

Thanks so much, Calem! These look amazing! Pikachu and I are gonna have so much fun running around in these in the festival!

[Ah...Calem can't help but smile, and there's a warmth to his smile that's so utterly genuine at the joy those two take in their costumes. It feels good to know that his talents can be used to make others happy, but seeing it first hand...]

Think nothing of it! [...His dialect shifts back into teenage mode once he says that much, realizing he. Definitely got a little too spirited there, goodness--] I'm glad to see that you both enjoy it, and I hope the both of you enjoy this festival fully. They really do bring the both of you guys out really nicely!

[It's adorable, honestly. Y'all are cute.]

Feel free to come on by again if you need clothes made, yeah? I'd be happy to make some again for you guys.

Yeah, totally!

[He nods. Now that he's in costume, Ash packs his clothes into his bag, picks up his Pikachu, and is ready to set off. He waves one last time before leaving.]
