When Gold questioned about Guzma it made Elio smile. "I don't mind. Guzma's someone I knew back in Alola! I like him, he's nice. Although I don't think he'd like hearing me say that to anyone, so let's just have that be our secret."
Thinking about Guzma brought a grin to Elio's face. Not that it lasts when Gold became prickly about his own Dad. Elio couldn't help but stiffen, but he managed to keep up his own smile not wanting to outwardly show how that had just effected him.
"I wasn't trying to say that you did--I was just saying, I don't really care about mine. That's all! Sorry. I don't want to talk about family, actually. It gives me the worst feeling in the world even if it's supposed to be nice."
He was glad to move on from that. Yeah cooking, cooking was a safe subject absolutely not related at all!!! Except--
"I wouldn't know what's weird or not either when it comes to cooking. She made my food, and I had to eat it no matter what it was, or how it tasted because I should be really grateful-" He paused not wanting to think about it further. Instead he'd rather think about Selene again even if it made him feel weird, but not in a bad way.
At Gold's stare Elio could only laugh, and add a hasty, "--sorrrry! It just slipped, I just think about her when I think about the night that's all!"
When Umbar spoke up, Elio didn't seem startled or surprised, given the tales he's heard from his friend. Instead, he nodded in understanding.
"Yeah, no one in Alola seemed to know about some of the places I mentioned like the Orange Archipelago. I guess it just doesn't exist in a lot of the other worlds." He doesn't think to elaborate further than that.
