[ROUTE 2]
[It seemed like any other ordinary day, but for some reason Ash and Pikachu could be seen standing in the middle of the road looking from left to right whilst wearing a dumbfounded expression.]
Hey Pikachu, are we...?
Pika-chu...
[From the farms, to the wind turbines, to the strong breeze. And of course, the familiar sight of Overlook Hill towering amongst everything else in the landscape. There's no doubt about it... he's back.]
[TURNBLOOM CITY]
[It felt like forever since Ash last stepped foot in this city. But there was one thing he clearly missed from Ultern, and that's the taste of Ultern's island cuisine!
So here's Ash and Pikachu sitting on a bench near a food cart, happily eating Sugar Doughnuts together.]
Man, it's been so long since we've had one of these! You don't find these anywhere else but in Ultern after all!
[The mouse Pokemon chirps in agreement.]
((OOC: For those familiar with Ash or have been keeping tabs on him, they might notice that he's actually been gone missing for a good chunk of the week. Well worry no more! Here he is back in Ultern, canon updated, sporting new shoes, and more than ready to take on new adventures! Also today's his birthday but due to timey-wimey shenanigans, he thinks it's not his birthday yet-))

Well... I didn't really do anything, or got to think of anything... Like, Pikachu and I were just on a stroll, and all of a sudden we're back in Galar. It just happens.
[He left Ultern the same way he came in, just being mysteriously drifted here and there.]

[He sighed. Afterwards, he seemed a lot calmer or, perhaps, more resigned.]
Figures. What did you see there? What did you do?
[He was still eager to hear about anything else about home.]
… hear or see anything about Unova? [He felt a bit shy asking and looked off to the side while doing so, avoiding meeting his eyes, trying to act unconcerned (not exactly convincing when he asked, but.) He missed home.]

[But there's a brighter side to it, at least!]
Get this, when Pikachu and I got drifted back, we were in Galar again... And we were just in time for our match against Steven during the tournament!
[It was weird, admittingly. Fortunately for Trip, Ash doesn't find his question weird anyway.]
As for Unova, I did get to visit it sometime after the Masters 8 Tournament! Nothing really big happened I think, but I did get to make friends with more Pokemon along the way!

It's good to hear... everything's okay, so there's that, at least.
[Don't worry, it's not like some great disaster's going to take place in Unova while you're gone, Trip! Don't be so pessimistic.]

[He missed his region, okay, even just hearing of a Pokemon from there would be helpful... he wanted any little piece of Unova, right now.
A pokeball shifted and released a Pokemon on its own, a newly-caught Tepig released itself into Trip's arms to listen to the conversation! Well, he caught it immediately, both waiting to hear about Ash's adventures there.]

[Before Ash could even begin to explain, the sight of Trip's Tepig completely catches his attention.]
Woah, a Tepig! Is this little fella yours, Trip?

I think he's probably still pretty young... not much of a battler, but it seems he drifted here on his own. I didn't see a family and he doesn't have a trainer.
[The little Tepig sniffed curiously and looked at Ash again.]
Seems to have a very good sense of smell.

[He'll reach out to pet Tepig's head while Pikachu chirps as he greets the newcomer.]
Well Tepig, you're pretty lucky to have Trip as your partner!
2/2 oops hand slips and writes a brand new adventure for ash-
Oh right! So back in Unova, there was this wild Rufflet I met along the way. And you know how the Pokedex says that they tend to challenge anyone larger than them? Well for some reason, that little Rufflet didn't have the confidence to do that, and he doesn't have a strong crushing grip like the others. So he was picked on by the rest of the Rufflets in his flock. All the other wild Pokemon in the area made him a pushover at times. Like, even a teeny tiny Sewaddle was enough to spook him!
[He wears a pitying look as he thought about it.]
I felt sorry for the little guy, so I stuck around to help build its strength and courage! At first it was kind of troublesome admittingly, since Rufflet couldn't get himself to battle even one of my smallest Pokemon. So I tried other methods that might help, and over time I could see him growing stronger and a little more confident in his abilties.
Then one day, Rufflet suddenly disappeared. I tried to look for him, and soon I found out he was trying to protect a Petlil from a giant Scolipede. But before I could do anything to help, to my surprise Rufflet managed to take it down! When I saw his sharp, focused look in his eyes, I knew by then that all that training we did finally paid off, and I was so happy for him!
[this is so IC and so anipoke-like, I'll cry!! Ash is too sweet]
Tepig smiled happily, wagging its tail as Ash pet it, but didn't say a word.
It then curled up and listened to the story intently. It was a lot quieter and shier than Ash's Tepig, but seemed to really like the story.]
... you went out of your way for a random Rufflet, huh? That's so like you. [It's not really judgmental, even if the phrasing sounds that way—Trip's saying it fondly.]
Sounds like it grew up strong. You did a good job.
[Tepig finally spoke up, too, even if it only oinked once.]
... I think Tepig enjoyed it too, isn't that right?

Haha, thanks Tepig! Since I had a lot of fun adventures along the way, I've got plenty more stories to share to be honest.

[Tepig nodded happily, then, looking at Ash closely, decided to stretch out his forelegs, trying to reach for Ash. He wanted to give Ash a hug, it seemed. Maybe it'll feel like holding Pignite when it was a Tepig, Ash!]

[Tepig sniffed, trying to pick up Ash's scent, then, when he brought his arms a bit closer to Ash, Tepig wriggled loose and leapt into Ash's arms, oinking.]
Pokemon really seem to like you.
Ever trained a Pokemon that didn't care much for battling? This one seems to have more of a talent for sniffing out berries and things. Do you think there's truffles in Ultern?

[And at Trip's comment, Ash responds by looking a bit sheepish while rubbing the back of his head.]
I can't say that all of them easily warmed up to me though.
[He glances at his Pikachu before letting out a chuckle. And that got his partner to tilt his head slightly.]
Is that so? I think I remember Grandma Yui mentioning about truffles in the woods. [And then he lifts Tepig up.] And if that's the case, with your strong nose, I bet you can sniff them out in no time!

Really? Huh, well, no one's perfect.
[He smiled at hearing that and pet Tepig too, who absolutely melted in Ash's arms, happy to be getting so much affection.]
Hear that, Tepig? Looks like you're just the Tepig for the job!

I mean, it's not that easy sometimes, y'know! But... I guess that goes to show that I still have a long way to go if I wanted to become a Pokemon Master.
[He still thinks about that Latios sometimes...]

... I think, even if you got that strong or mastered every type, there'll always be Pokemon you can't get along with or who won't trust you right away, won't there be? They have their own personalities too, just like how I can't make a battler out of a Pokemon who really doesn't want to be. Pokemon have their own personalities and likes and dislikes, right?
[That's what he's taking away from this, anyway.]
... I'm aware that's big talk coming from me, but I'm still figuring things out too. Still looking for answers.

You're right about that. Getting better and stronger at battling is one thing, but trying to make friends with them is another. ...And that's why we gotta work hard to understand each other. That way we might find something in common with them that'll help us get along with them better!
[And then he grins.]
Heh heh, well I'm still trying to figure things out too, even if I'm the Champion. There's still so much to learn and see about the world, y'know! That's why I wanna keep continuing on my journey.
